  1. One of the goals of art of writing is to be concise that is in fewer words impart as much information and atmosphere as possible as long as it doesn't overwhelm the reader, in my experience that is not the case with PoE, writing seems redundant at many places in this game, I don't think they took much time to refine the writing.......
  2. No.....not just companions........but any significant characters in the game........
  3. I believe Elryn's Jacket is not working as intended because I keep blinding and dazing my own party with it in most wierd ways...... This jacket triggers Eyestrike ability when the wearer gets hit by an enemy, this ability blinds and dazes the enemy who hits you and other enemies around him in a certain radius, now the spell description says its only enemies...so I put it on Grieving Mother but what's happening is that when she gets hit even with beneficial spells cast by my Priest or Paladin she blinds my Priest or Paladin whoever cast that heal or the buff and blinds the rest of my party around them as well. During a battle Pallegina got hit and she is wearing the consecrated ground boots so consecration went off and as soon as it hit GM she blinded Pallegina and my own party members who were near her and not the enemies, also happened when I tried to heal her with Durance, I ended up blinding my whole party who happened to be near by Durance...... This jacket should be named Suicide Jacket, I know its not cursed but it's definitely working like a cursed item, I believe its just not working as intended. Couldn't find bug submission section here on these forums so I am posting it here.........
  4. Yea had to retrain her, that refreshed it, although it should have been updated by itself.........thanks though
  5. OK figured it out, had to retrain her
  6. So no one has had this problem? Or has any idea what could be causing this?
  7. Only Durance.......he is probably the only memorable controllable character from this game and perhaps Pallegina but that's about it. Durance voice do have character and somewhat Pallegina's voice too but rest are just so so.......
  8. Ever since I installed WM2, Pallegina's Sworn Enemy keeps showing 0 uses available, i have tried resting many times but it doesn't refresh......... Is anyone else having this problem?
  9. One thing that made games like BG and PST so great and memorable and made players emotionally attach to the characters is the voice acting that was full of character and distinguished one character from another in a very precise and meaningful way.... the voice of characters in those old games distinguished each character same as their portraits did.........what portrait did for your eyes, the voice did for your ears..... PoE is a great game and a much larger part of the text in this game is voice acted in comparison to the above mentioned older game but one of the short comings of PoE is that the significant characters in the game, they don't SOUND 'SIGNIFICANT'.....if you get my meaning. Their voices and expressions don't have much character... E.g. Minsc from BG games, may be only 5% of his lines were voice acted or even less but I am pretty sure we all remember how he sounded like even today and we identify him with that voice and expressions he used, such as 'Go for the Eyes, Boo, Go for Eyes!', same way Jahiera, Yeslick, Valygar, Kagain, Jan Jansen etc. or Annah, Dakkon, Fall From Grace, Morte etc from PST, their voices and expression were remarkably different from each other or anything else we saw or heard in those game, so much that these voices and expression stood out to our ears and helped us form a unique and different attachments to each and every significant character..... Personally, I would happily trade-out extensive but character-less voice acting for little but full of character voice acting....also the click command lines of controllable characters could have been more striking.....at the moment controllable characters' expression are kind of 'meh whatever', I can play this game with character voice completely turned down and won't miss much..... I just hope that next game from Obsidian in this genre would carry more character in voice acting....voice and the expressions also identify a character not just the portrait and background text... Thanks
  10. OK so I restarted playing the game, after several months, after WM2 came out and I had forgotten how much text one has to go through to get the complete experience of the game world and then realise that much of it didn't mean anything........ I remember the old games like BG series, PST, IWD series etc, these games had texts but not in such large quantity and the worlds of those games left even a greater lasting impression....and that impression is one the reasons why we have games like PoE still coming out in this generation..... What I have found that the text in PoE could have been much more concised, which means it could have given the same amount of info or even more in fewer words.......... there are certain longer conversations where party members or even NPCs could have said the same thing in 5 lines instead of 15 and that happens because they keep repeating themselves in different words and some of the info that is given is entirely useless for questing and even environment / atmosphere building....... A lot of text (grey text) also just describes the environment or area you are in and behaviour and expressions of the character you are interacting with.....this is a good thing.......but this text could also be concised.......there is no need to write 3 paragraphs to describe a wall and every tiny nook and corner on it, they should leave some room for players imagination....... The reason I say this is that, in my first playthrough I read everything in the game, it was damn exhausting, I almost burnt out and was on the brink of moving on to another RPG but I persevered and was eventually able to beat the game, now after several months I restarted playing the game and I have forgotten much of what I read before because much of it was meaningless and I find myself reading it again and once again I am at the brink of abandoning the campaign..........its just simply too much to read, I mean if I want to read then I will go and read a book, I am playing this game because I want to 'play a game' and not read a novel..... Games like BG and PST got it right or may be they could have done with some more text but PoE has too much of it and people like me who don't want to miss out on anything find it way too exhausting to go through every word and in the end find out that much of what we read does not amount to anything....... Don't get me wrong this is a great game but I hope that Obsidian's next top down RPG uses more concised and refined text......
  11. How about some of the other unusual choices as tank? e.g. Rogues or Wizards etc ? Are Rogues viable as tanks or even tanky dps? I used Devil as a front line off tank and she was quite promising, so I thought may be I could create a rogue with better stats and build him up like a tanky dps, also there is a rogue talent that distracts enemies from attacking their current target, which may prove useful in distracting enemies who attack my squishies.........may be I can also incorporate retaliation in that build........ Has anyone had any experience with building a rogue along these lines?
  12. If you are not planning her to be your tank than I would go for Cons 10 and Per 12, because Per governs accuracy, i think your accuracy will be too low because of your Per score......
  13. Yea but there are certain attributes that can't be enchanted If I want to role play a barbarian with a morning star, I dont have any decent options. And I indeed want to play a morning star wielding juggernaut but there are no decent morning stars in this game. On the other hand there are far more rapiers, flails and stilletoes in the game, they are just sitting in my stach, even if I wanted to use those items, I won't even be able to try them all as there are too many of them. Have also found 4 or 5 unique flails they are all sitting in my stash, haven't even equipped half of them.....
  14. I haven't used Sagani in a long time and I haven't played a ranger yet myself so I don't rightly know this but does your pet kills and damage count towards you Ranger's overall kill and damage score or no? (I mean on Records page under Party and Personal tabs......)
  15. Does anyone else feel that the game offers a much larger variety for certain item categories and much smaller for others? I mean I have found far too many unique Rapiers, Flails and Stilletoes in comparison to any other weapon type......e.g I have found only one unique Battle Axe in the whole game and I believe only one unique Sword but quite a few unique sabres. Found only one unique Great Sword but multiple unique Estocs and no unique Morning Stars or Pole Axes etc etc. AFAIK the loot in this game is hand placed, at least the major items.......so that's it then I suppose.......or has anyone had a different experience? If not then, do you think that item variety could be balanced in a better way? Thanks
  16. Sorry I dont remember correctly, but I got it in WM2 , it was either .
  17. 1. Deflection is definitely a factor. Enemies will run to my wizard then run away from my wizard when he pops hardened arcane veil. 2. DR is definitely a factor. Shades will move towards than away from a wizard who pops bulwark of the elements (e.g. to ranger with low cold resist). 3. I believe low health is also a factor, but less sure than 1+2. Pretty sure I seen enemies switch targets to pile on a ally with low health. 4. Engagements make enemy significantly less likely to pursue its preferred target. I believe multiple engagements further reduce the chance. Not sure if threat posed by the melee's free swings is a factor, or just the engagement itself. 5. Distance is a factor. Not sure about medium vs. long range, but simply being in melee range already makes you significantly more likely to be attacked. 6. I'm not certain whether move speed slow effects whether they chase. Its possible to completely stop or reduce to a crawl many dangerous opponents with spells like blind though. Nice piece of info thanks......
  18. Yes I know and they do it from insane range too, i dont believe that a PC monk can do it from that far, they were basically dashing in from the other edge of my screen. And they also use Force of Anguish a lot......... Now there were about 12 of them and say if 6 of them use FP and 4 of them use FoA at the same time or in quick succession, it ****s up the whole game.......there ought to be some kind of threshold on this. I remember there were bouncing bodies on my screen every where, it was complete chaos....
  19. I was able to complete one of my WM1 quests after starting WM2......I left it for later because I was too low to complete it, the first I head to WM. Btw RP-wise there is an interval of 2 months between the event of WM1 and WM2.....
  20. What makes an enemy disengage a frontliner and go for a wizard or priest? Does anyone know the exact mechanics? Is it the deflection score? Or low endurance or DR? Or is it just a simple class check? I know its not the dealt damage because I have seen enemies break engagement with my tank or even run directly to my ranged party members when the ranged party members were not even focusing that enemy where as the tank was bashing the skull of that very same enemy, so its definitely not the damage that keeps the enemy engaged or make him disengage. Can anyone shed some light on this? Because if I know the mechanics then I will be able to control this....
  21. Hey guys I am planning to start a new PoTD campaign as a tanking class, either Paladin or a Fighter. As we know that tanking has changed a lot since the game came out and now the tanks have harder time to keep the enemies engaged. I would like some advise on stats, items and the type of abilities I should go for to successfully play the role of the main tank. This is for PoTD and what works on Normal may not work on PoTD so please be mindful of that..... All tips and advise will be greatly appreciated, thanks
  22. You obviously play the game on a lower difficulty.......btw you did tell me to avoid min/max'ing, very bluntly.
  23. Does anyone else find these monks insanely hard on PotD, in comparison to rest of the enemies in the game, they are super buffed and amazingly well placed even when they are sleeping and they can teleport even to out of range opponents. How come these monks are so hard to fight. On PotD they would just litterally port in your ranged group and stun and one shot everything in less than a sec, that Kraken or the Eyeless or everything else in the expansion or even in the whole game is not even remotely as challenging as these guys are..... I mean I had a terrible experience against these monks, everything else in the game seems fine but these guys just ruined my fun, they save against everything, even when I manage to debuff them with a bucket load of debuffs, also some how they keep healing like crazy even when nobody is casting heal spells...... Thankfully I have finished the expansion, dont know how I managed to beat them but I finally did........... but I like to know how do you guys find these monks and how do you deal with them on harder difficulties? P.S. I had them upscaled and they made everything else in the game look like a joke even the dragons and the main bosses.........at times I wondered may be there is something broken in the game because it literally felt like they were not designed to be beaten......specially that one group on top of that cliff in the northern part of Caryon's Scar at Ondrite Fanatic Camp or whatever its called, the group that had Master Doemetta or whatever his name was, he teleporting and one shotting the wizard
