  1. Its not a MMO like World of Warcraft, the class mechanics will not change very often here and the number of available encounters is limited. Also, there are only so many ways you can play a class. So I don't think having separate forum for each class is an efficient idea. wow, I don't think I've ever read such a short post that I disagreed with more. the class mechanics will actually change CONSTANTLY, as there are entirely new classes here, as well as huge modifications to classic classes, and that can ONLY mean that there will indeed by many changes that come over the next few months. the number of available encounters is irrelevant, though hardly really limited, even in this game, let alone any sequels. the classes in this game have more ways you can play them than any other fantasy crpg of this type I have ever played, and I played every single infinity engine game ever made. most classes can be entirely changed in how they work; making them into back row ranged casters, or into damn near melee tanks. people have done just that with the cipher and rogue, for example. ....but I suppose you didn't notice... because there aren't class specific forums to browse through to see it. You don't need a separate class forum for that............a separate forum would be too much for each class there is just not enough stuff to talk about each class separately, in a single player game like this, with limited scope. Also in about a month or two 90% player base will move on to other games. You may be one of them. Specially with some excellent games coming out in next two months.
  2. Hmm....so switching from medium to heavy armor a melee rogue (with 20 Dex) suffers about 15% to 20% loss in recovery speed........how badly will this loss in recovery speed affect him.....I am trying to figure that out, can anyone shed some light on it? Thanks.

  4. Most people are telling me that I should wait till the enemy is engaged, to attack with my rogue..........but I have already mentioned it many times that I AM attacking only those enemies that are already engaged...... but still people keep giving me this advise like i am not doing it, its frustrating seriously. I don't mean to offend anyone, I apologise if anyone felt offended. Anyway, I am using two fast weapons, a flail and a stilleto both are heavily enchanted and as soon as I use them, the enemy even if he is engaged with my tanks, drops all aggro on them and turn towards me and then sticks to me like a chewing gum and I use blind (but we can only use once per encounter so......) as often as I can but I can't use it on every enemy and that's why I tried using heavy armor, so I can take those enemies on, who turn around to attack me.......but I can't decide that the 15% to 20% recovery that I am sacrificing to use heavy armor, does it really worth it or should I revert back to leather..... What I want to find out is to what degree recovery speed is crucial for a melee rogue? I have noticed a bit of delay in my action sequences since I equipped heavy armor (recovery speed down to -50% from -35%) its only a difference of 15%, but I am wondering if there is some hidden mechanic there that I am missing or may be the impact of this 15% is bigger than it seems. The game doesn't tell me my no. of attacks or my ability cast speed and that's what got me confused......if anyone has any insight on this please let me know thanks....
  5. I am level 5 now and that was my approach too when I started the game, but the enemies keep turning back to attack me as soon as I sneak attack them. Now I make sure that Eder has engaged them (and Eder has the talent that allows him to engage multiple enemies) but still every time I try to sneak attack an enemy who is engaged by Eder, the enemy leaves Eder and comes after my rogue and then I can't get him off, so thats why I tried the heavy armor........ So you mean when you sneak attack, a enemies who are already engaged by your tank, they don't turn back and attack you and then stick to you like hive bee? Sorry I am just trying to understand this.....
  6. Oh boo-hoo. So paladins aren't the best at something. For crying out loud, that does NOT mean that they're not ill-suited to being in a party. Everyone on a party doesn't have to be the best at something. Jeez. I have Pallegine in my party. Would I be better off with another Fighter instead of her to be a second tank? Maybe yes, maybe no. Would this supposed second fighter be a better pure tank, similar to Eder? Probably. OTOH, he wouldn't be giving the party the various bonuses that a padadin can constantly provide. Is that enough to justify using a paladin rather than a second fighter? Perhaps not to some people, but a second (particularly a custom made) fighter in a party that already has Eder would seem boring to me. Seems to me that if you want a second tank in the party, it should be of another class, whether that's a paladin, a barbarian, a monk, etc. And it's also about play style and role playing preferences. I happen to like paladins and like having them in my parties. They very well may not be the most powerful or efficient choice, but I still like having a paladin in my part regardless. Other people may love monks or barbs in this slot. And if so, good for them. Thats exactly the point that you are comparing usefulness of first paladin to second fighter, comparison to first fighter is totally out of question...... EDIT: Also read on my last post in this topic, you'll have better idea of what I am trying to say....
  7. Ok so I am playing a melee rogue, until yesterday I was using a fine medium armor which gave me 8 + 2 DR with -30% recovery but then I equipped a fine heavy armor on, which gave me 12 + 2 DR with -50% recovery............ With the heavy armor I am able to soak some incoming damage but I am wondering if loosing 20% recovery speed worth it? Does anyone know anything about this one, I mean about how this all works and if I should really keep heavy armor on or should I go back to medium or even try light for better recovery speed...... Any advice or insight will be greatly appreciated, thanks.
  8. I believe paladins do need a buff of some sort, I tried playing a Paladin but then I deleted the character because she seemed kind of week compared to fighters......and before you start yelling at me, please read on; Now I am NOT saying that Paladin and Fighter should be the same...........they are different classes and they must also play differently and they both should have their unique and specific advantages and disadvantages. But my point here is that, they both should be equally effective in handling situations in their own unique way. However, at the moment Fighter seems to manage different situations far better than a Paladin. The tools that a Fighter has at his disposal are far more effective than the ones a Paladin have. Just like Druids and Mages, they are different but their role is more or less the same and they both mop the floor with enemies butts IN THEIR OWN WAY and they are both more or less equally effective IN THEIR OWN WAY. And that is what I am talking about in regards to Paladins and Fighters. At the moment Fighters are noticeable more effective in handling front line challenges than a Paladin and this needs to change. Paladin should be more or less similarly effective in managing the enemies that are rushing in, in his own way.
  9. Is it possible to rest at Caed Nua without using camp fire? I mean once you control it. We should be able to since we control it but I can't seem to find a way to rest without using camp fire. Does anyone know how to do it? Thanks.
  10. What do you mean, you get different rep bonuses when you side with Kolsc, so how can he be a non-factor? What actually happens when i kill them both? What makes it different from when I kill only one of them, thats what I want to find out..............
  11. I know when we kill Raedric and leave Kolsc alive, our rep increases with GV and decreases with DB........and vice versa for opposite choice. But what happens when I kill both of them? I was thinking that may be our protagonist or Eder becomes the lord of the keep but that doesn't happen, so may be something else happens...... I have been looking on internet about what happens when you kill both Raedric and Kolsc, but I haven't been able to find anything definitive...... Is there any benefit of killing them both? Does anyone know? Thanks.
  12. Ok so main reason is min/max stats, i guess, after reading all these posts. But isn't that illogical, I mean even if a person can try he still can't have 3 intelligence or dexterity, unless he is brain addled or handicap (from RP perspective). (From practical perspective) If you have minimum ability score in two stats, doesn't that severely handicaps your character, like if you have minimum resolve and intelligence that will make your character extremely vulnerable against attacks that are repelled by saves associated resolve and intelligence..... and it cannot be compensated by other stats since other stats will not boost the defences that you are missing on account of low resolve and intelligence. So how does it work? Are min/max character ultra vulnerable against some enemies and super powerful against others?
  13. I am a fan of IWD but I am also the fan of BG and PS:T...... and I don't want to miss out on the companions stories and quests. Is PotD do-able with pre-made companions?
  14. lol with a priest no. its possible to clear everything but the bear with several classes, monk, ranger, chanter, barbarian, probably cipher. Its also juuuuuust about possible to clear the bear cave with a monk if you get really lucky. but to do so with a priest is uttely impossible i mean look at you level one spells lol. PS note that it becomes substantially easier to clear the bear cave once you hit 3/4. TBH i think you are playing PoTD wrong if you thought it was possible to solo the bear level two. PoTD becomes pretty tactical and part of that is realising when a monster is too hard for you, if it was possible to solo 3 bears, one of which hits like a truck then PoTD would be far too easy. Hmm....but shouldn't every class have different tools at their disposal to handle different situations and be equally effective in the game? So how come only some classes can do it and while others can't? So what you are saying is that, priests are generally weak on their own compared to these other classes? May be I should change my class then.....
  15. So whats up with all the custom created parties in PotD runs, that some people are talking about? I mean custom created party members don't have any dialogue or story going on the game or am I wrong? On the other hand the Pre-made companions have dialogue and quests, I don't understand why would anyone want to miss out on all these quests and dialogue by using custom created characters in their parties ......... isn't it just boring and makes you miss out on a major aspect of the game? Can someone please explain? Thanks.
  16. So in PotD, difficulty, after exiting the first tutorial dungeon when you enter the first area called Valenwood (the region with the Bear Cave and Nonton, the guy who killed his friend, and etc) before Guilded Vale. Has anyone cleared that area (Valenwood) before entering Guilded Vale in PotD difficulty? I mean you are on your own in that area without any party members......I am playing a Cleric or Priest, whatever its called, and I find it almost impossible to clear Valenwood at this point, on my own, specially the bear cave and get evidence against Nonton. Is it even possible to do it this early in the game? And if you have done it, can you share your strat. pls?.......so that I may know if I am missing or ignoring something. Thanks.
  17. Why would you get to choose which kind of weapon you'll get? Its a legendary spear.....so you get a spear. It doesn't have to be extraordinary, may be the guy who wielded it was extraordinary........ Its really stupid that you get your say what type of legendary weapon it was when the legend happened hundreds of years before you.
  18. Didn't you read I have already talked to the head priest? The combat is annoying thats why I am trying to skip it
  19. Well I am on top floor and I have the whole party wearing the robes but enemies are just attacking me on sight.......
  20. Another one who hasn't bothered to read the thread or understand the OP. Here's the abridged version: > Players complain about health/endurance system and spell uses/rest > These mechanics are related to the rest system > Game could have been balanced around a different system to avoid these issues > Original design meant you could only rest in specific locations and made more sense - why was this idea abandoned? Another one who doesn't bother to use his head. That is exactly what I am saying, why don't you do yourself what you are suggesting..... don't camp yourself or camp only a limited no. of times (which ever no. seems appropriate to you) and all these problems will be solved for you because this is exactly what you are suggesting. Why do you want everyone to suffer your opinions?
  21. So my journal tells me if I wear the robes the enemies will leave me alone on the floor where you meet Nemader or whatever his name is (the guy on the top floor, where you can rest), as long as I speak the right phrase. But the robes are not working, enemies are attacking me on sight.....its not giving me any option for dialogue except only on one reload the dialogue popped up but enemies attacked me even as I spoke the right phrase. So I reloaded the game now they are just attacking me on sight, no dialogue no nothing and I am wearing Berathian Robes...... Is it a bug or am I doing something wrong?
  22. This new Bioware is crap, its not the same company that brought us great games like BG and KOTOR, i hope we all know the that. Most of the Bioware team, these days is made up of people from the background of console games like Gears of War and Halo. Just look at .....DA:I its simply an action game with straight forward dialogue and character abilities per level, thats not an RPG. Its an action game in medieval fantasy skin. Also the lamest thing about that game is that they simply restricted players to 8 abilities because console game pads cannot support more than 8 abilities at a time, so PC gamers must suffer having access to fewer abilities as well. I just wish they change the company name. If my memory serves me right, none of the founders are there any more.
  23. Its a good game but its not quite in the league of BG or PST games. Its seems like devs held back on this one, but its definitely one of the better RPGs out there.
  24. Hmm.....so after all I wasn't alone who thought so, and like i said i don't really use double speed unless I am back-tracking my steps to get to somewhere I have already been before. This game is similar to older IE games like BG and PS:T but its not quite IN their league and IMO smaller maps are just one more thing that stops PoE from becoming a great title that it could have been. I remember in original BG maps specially (most) wilderness maps were huge and you could find two or three or even more different stories going on or events happening in a single map. There you could find bandits trying to loot you on one side of the middle of the map, a thief trying to scam you some ways off towards the north, a mad wizard with a messed up and blown experiment on the other side, a quest marker location in the south and couple of cave entrances in the west. But here, in PoE, most maps are just big enough to accommodate only a single event at the most. PoE is a good game, there is no denying that.....but it seems like it was created in a hurry and it feels like devs held back on this probably due to limited resources, as its mentioned in one of the posts above. But nonetheless it is a good game and one of the better RPGs out there.
