Your RPG system sucks!
Brimsurfer replied to Halsy's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Except that the game can't be managed in real time, I agree with everything else OP has mentioned. Specially non-tank characters are horrible. -
I am not saying that I agree with OP and I am not a casual gamer, but combat and the difficulty does seem out of sorts in this game. I have played all the IE games and I have been playing RPGs for over 2 decades and in my experience difficulty of BG or IWD games or even PS:T was much more balanced than what I have seen in this game.

In BG, most characters were capped at level 7 or so and then the expansion TotSC raised the cap to 10 or so, if I remember correctly,..... I could be a bit off since its been well over a decade or so since i played it. I think allowing characters to level up to level 12 is very generous, seeing that PoE maps are considerably smaller than BG maps.

So at what level should I go to Caed Nua, I have a party of 4, three of them are level 4 and one of them is level 3 and the place is filled with shades and phantoms etc........s0 am I high enough to handle Caed Nua? Or should I roam around get some level and then go to Caed Nua? I mean what would be the appropriate level and party size for Caed Nua? Thanks.

Does anyone feel like the maps in Pillars of Eternity are much smaller than the maps in BG or IWD games or PS:T for that matter? If I remember correctly it took me almost twice as much time to explore a map in BG games as it does in PoE, and I don't speed up time normally, unless I am tracing back my footsteps to a place where I have already been. It could just be me, but I do have s strong feeling that these maps are kind of small in comparison to other IE games, how about you guys?

What may be an ideal stat set for a Paladin? I am creating a (Human) Paladin and I can't decide how should I distribute points among various stats, following is what I 've got; Mig 12 Dex 10 Con 10 Per 15 Int 12 Res 19 Now what should I do here? Having only 12 might is bothering me , but I dont wan't reduce Res or Perc as they are the two highly recommended stats of Pallys. Or having 12 might on Paladin is OK. Can anyone shed some light on it? Or share their experience if they are actually playing a Paladin and how different stats are playing out for them? Thanks

Yea but this temple was in the middle of the first town, entrance was just wide open, right in the middle of it. So it seemed like the place I was expected to go in.........like Copper Coronet, back corridors, or the Sewers in Slums District of Athkatla (BG2)...............wow just saying that brought back some sweet memories.

It does not disapear, im trying it level 3 solo on PoTD, with a full party i think it would easily be possible at level 3 or even 2 yea with full party may be or also depends on what attack type you are using......i dont have anything that works against high deflection at the moment. Also first level is easy it gets tough in the second level.

I can go elsewhere and do a few quests and come back at level 5 or so then clear the temple.........i can do that. Because I don't see any point in killing a couple of groups of shades and then resting and then keep repeating the same thing...... because I believe I can only rest twice in a dungeon then I have to leave it anyway to get camping supplies from the town (unless I find some in the dungeon) But the question I have now is that if I go to another map and do some quests there then come back by level 5, will I still be able to clear the temple and do the Witran quest? Or does it disappear? Also is there a way know the appropriate level range for an area, so that I don't stumble in there at lower level and get my ass handed to me through no fault of mine?

I have killed the skuldr pack , with their king........i didnt have any trouble there, just had to reload a couple of times. But its just the shades and phantoms....... their damage avoidance is ridiculous. I mean normally my rogue B'stabs for like 30 damage or so but on shades / phantoms he b'stabs for like 4 damage, not to mention he misses most of the times and the attacks my party actually manages to land on them, are usually grazes.

So what is the ideal level to enter that temple of Eothas in Gilded Vale? I am playing at Hard difficulty. I mean my main character is a rogue and I have a level 3 party, with Eder and Aloth. I completed the first level but downstairs in the second level I am getting my ass handed to me by all the shades and phantoms. I can kill couple of groups of shades but in the process I end up using up all my spells and loosing a ton of health.........because I can't seem to damage them with my weapons as much. I mean my rogue backstabs the shade for only 3 or 4 damage, most normal hits do only 1 damage also my party keeps missing abilities and spells as well, so now I am thinking may be I am too low to be wandering in this temple. Can someone please explain whats going on here, am I really too low to be in here?

Why does the whole party have to go in stealth every time and if one of them is detected then all of them are detected even the ones that are well hidden completely out of sight. My main character is a rogue, i go in, in stealth mode, position myself nicely behind enemies (I am still hidden), then I rush in with my warrior and mage and as soon as enemy sees them, my rogues stealth is also cancelled. why does this happen? Is it a glitch or is it working as intended?

Accuracy 1 and Accuracy?
Brimsurfer replied to Brimsurfer's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
OK I understand now, what you are saying...............but both Accuracy and Accuracy 1 are showing up as weapon properties. I mean when i hover my mouse over the spear in the description tooltip it says *Properties: Accuracy* and when I hover mouse over my Rapeir it says *Properties: Accuracy 1*, so they are both appearing as properties, it does not shows Accuracy 1 as enchantment. But I understand what you are trying to tell me, that is, Accuracy 1 is an enchantment and can be added or overwritten but Accuracy is the inherent quality in the make of the weapon and it cannot be added or overwritten. -
Accuracy 1 and Accuracy?
Brimsurfer replied to Brimsurfer's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I am not sure I understand? What does it means? Why is one called Accuracy and the other is called Accuracy 1, they both do the same thing? -
Fighters don't use might?
Brimsurfer replied to Brimsurfer's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Sorry I am just trying to understand this..............how can high fortitude saves, compensate for extremely low reflex and will saves, these three are entirely different from each other as I understand.............also what about very slow attack speed and ability cast speed? Or is there a hidden mechanics or an aspect of mechanics that I am ignoring here? -
Fighters don't use might?
Brimsurfer replied to Brimsurfer's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
But going so far below the score of 10 in dex and int will severely penalize the character in action speed, reflex saves, ability duration, area of effect (idk if it matters for fighter in this game) and Will saves. I dont think this approach is very wise, my character will be slow as snail and will be highly vulnerable to reflex and will attacks and my abilities will expire in very short duration, I mean that's what I get from the description...............unless I am wrong, can someone please clarify this? -
OMG what to play?!?!
Brimsurfer replied to Brimsurfer's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Hmm....well most people are saying 'Rogue' as there are no recruit-able rogues, also i dont think there are any recruit-able barbarians either but anyway I am normally a rogue in most RPGs, so I guess rogue it is........... Hmm....but that Druid class looks aweful nice, oh and look at that Paladin ............. oh **** I am trailing off again Sigh......I hate myself.
