  1. Speaking of the developments with the undead, did anyone else notice how much Blizzard is ripping themselves off with that? You've got the "good warrior girl", (Kerrigan, Sylvanas) and they get turned into a screwed up version of themselves by a faction which consists out of mindless monsters (Zerg, Undead) who are basically controlled by one all-knowing creature (The Overmind, The Lich King). But then their controller hits a snag, and suddenly they have free thought again, and decide to take a part of the faction for their own (Kerrigan's broods, The Forsaken). Also, both of them are very treacherous. I'm pretty sure both of them betrayed everyone they came into contact with. (Mengsk, Raynor, Fenix, Zeratul - Garithos, Arthas, The Dreadlords)
  2. Hah! 180. is my favorite. "It is my genetic imperative."
  3. Well, judging by the amount of profit some fantasy universes generate... I quite agree though, except I'm going to have to say that WarCraft III already destroyed it. I was liking my orcs bloodthirsty and savage, thank you very much. Now they've become second-rate Protoss.
  4. I don't know if someone has brought this up in this thread before because it is far too long to completely go through, but what is it with all the creating and beginning in this thread? Why does everything have to have a beginning? Why can't something just be there? Be eternal? Or is that too big a concept for way too many human minds to wrap themselves about?
  5. I'm replaying an old RTS Game that doesn't get enough love, WarWind II. I love how the unit system in this game works; you don't build units, you find civilians and hire them and proceed to train them to become better units. It's handled quite impressive, but sadly it still requires just a little bit too much resource-managing. Perhaps at some point someone will take this system and tweak it so it works.
  6. *John rolls a twenty! His head pops off like a bottlecap!*
  7. ::John the Berserker goes berserk and promptly attempts to remove his own head::
  8. That strikes me as a pretty nasty thing to say... Well, anyway, I'm a huge dinosaur nut, but they don't seem to be coming to Holland, so I guess I'm out of luck.
  9. Heh. That reminds me of a comic I read where the characters played DnD, and one of them played an Elven Barbarian named "Glorfinmad".
  10. I think the most interesting characters I write or play are the ones who I have the least in common with. Or even ones I don't really like. It makes me less afraid to throw everything I've got at them for the sake of storyline, drama and tension. That being said, I've done the occasional Mary Sue (Gary Stu?) and none of them ever turn out as bad as the ones the wikipedia entry describes. Mary Sues can be good characters, but sadly most of the people using them just suck at writing. The exception is the "Angsty Stu", which always sucks. I took it upon me to make an Angsty Stu which was not a bad character, but I failed and gave up after several attempts. It did leave me with some interesting character ideas that may end up in non-Sues though.
  11. This test fails because it left out vampire.
  12. Me neither, and I've watched it several times.
  13. I figure most of you have figured out the first four tests by now (they're not incredibly difficult). The last one, though, you have to spell out in the alien alphabet: "The Beginning Is The End"
  14. http://www.ethanhaaswasright.com/ BOW DOWN.
  15. That reminds me of the time my history and english teacher's brought in an actual neo-nazi to my school for educational purposes (I'll be damned if I can figure them out). The guy was completely convinced that the jew destruction camps and stuff didn't happen. When we asked him to explain, he said "have you ever seen one"? But we live quite near one of the transitional camps in Holland, and most of us answered "yes" in choir. We then proceeded to ask him if he ever saw "Scheveningen", a dutch city. He said no. "Well, that must mean it doesn't exist."
  16. Doubtful. Most vegetarians I know just can't stand the thought they're eating something that was once moving around. If someone is still a vegetarian to "save the animals" they are very misinformed, considering the trouble caused my growing and harvesting meat replacements.
  17. What exactly does Harry Potter represent? If he represents anything at all? I think you're giving it too much credit, Wals.
  18. Both have their merits, but at least randomized characters lead to more creativity while actually playing. Otherwise the creativity generally goes only into the character creation and nothing interesting gets done with the character. That seems like a waste of a good character to me. Of course, that may just be me. I have no interest in statistics and whatnot, after all.
  19. One word: Because. I watched "The Dark Crystal" again yesterday. That movie is so well-designed.
  20. Cows rule! In all seriousness, a lot of species were laying eggs before chickens ever appeared. So, the egg.
  21. Starship Troopers also had a lot of boobs. (If you haven't noticed by now, it was a joke...) Seriously, though, Paul Verhoeven doing Transformers would have been awesome, but it would also never happen because I'm pretty sure its impossible for Paul Verhoeven to make a non R-rated movie. Though Starship Troopers would NOT be the example I would have picked, because that movie doesn't ever know when to take itself seriously and when not to. NOT a sign of someone who knows what to do with cheesy material. Try RoboCop instead.
  22. Paul Verhoeven? So basically, what you're saying is... you wanted more boobs.
