You haven't been here in so long that all your posts have been swallowed up by the internet, apparently. They no longer show up in the system. I was but a lowly noob when you were last here but I do remember you. Your name, your avatar and most of all your signature. Don't remember anything of what you were like, though.

According to TFYC spokesperson, the requirement was that a transgendered woman should have identified as a woman for a significant amount of time (I don't remember the exact amount, I believe it was 5 years). Not sure how that is objectionable as it was a safety measure to keep men in drag from claiming they identified as a woman to join the Game Jam. It sucks for the few trans women who didn't start identifying earlier, but it seems pretty logical to me. It's not even relevant as a defense for those against GamerGate anyway as they have consistently proved themselves to be extremely transphobic. Ben Kuchera snubbed transgendered game developer Devi Ever when he found out she was supporting GamerGate and later that same developer became a victim of serious doxxing including passwords and bank and credit data.

Wow, that was quick. Didn't the last season end last month? Last time we had to wait over a year and a half. It's either feast or famine.

Daniel Vavra lived there too and he made the same comparison.

In Berlin though? I assume it's gonna be somewhere between 700-1k.

I'm having a pretty massive anxiety attack right now. : / Guess I've been lagging behind on my anti-anxiety excercises.

I made a pun out of it being the number one thread for TToN talk! I did what I could!

Your new number one thread to talk about inXile's spiritual successor to Planescape: Torment! Last time we were talking about the differences in kickstarter and development approach between Obsidian and inXile regarding to how well TToN and PoE are working out.

Hey everyone, This topic has been locked due to forum post limit. Many thanks to everyone who voted, with almost 1700 votes I'm sure Obsidian has the information they need. I'm not going to make a "part 2" of this thread because I assume the decisions regarding localisations have been made at this point. Thanks for your input everyone, and carry on. -
I don't want him to be harassed out of the industry at all. I want him resign or be fired for the overwhelming amount of legitimate reasons that have been uncovered. Gaming journalism will not be able to regain credibility or legitimacy as long as he and Leigh Alexander are still in it.
-
Yeah, lets condone harassment against someone you disagree with therefore legitimizing his argument.

Wow this thread grew quickly. I gotta catch up on it later. Regarding inclusivity: I would love to see more female characters in games, but even moreso I would like to see more non-stereotyped minorities and especially I would like to see a trans character that is not a joke. I'm going to agree, though, that every game offering the option to play any type of character is detrimental. For it to be true inclusivity and not superficial fluff these traits are going to have to matter. I feel that complete inclusivity, as in "all games must have inclusivity options", isn't viable and would ruin artistic freedom. I mean, inclusivity options for open world games and roleplaying games where you create your own character? Great! But I'm going to steal from Yahtzee's Extra Punctuation here and make the point of James Sunderland. Any of you guys played Silent Hill 2, pretty much one of the best story driven games ever made? This game would not work with a female protagonist, because of story and theme. At its heart, this is a story about male frustration and (deconstructed) themes of masculinity. Forcing an inclusivity option onto a game like that is seriously detrimental. That would be taking a movie like Disclosure - that requires a male protagonist for the story, themes and drama - and forcing the writer to rewrite him as a woman. What I'm trying to say here is that inclusivity is a noble goal, but complete inclusivity isn't even viable but even moreso not productive. What we should strive for is more diversity. The problem is not that some games don't offer the option to play a woman or a black man or lesbian and only let you be a white man. The problem is that there aren't enough games that do offer those options. If there were more games available where you could play the other options, the games where you can only play a white man wouldn't be an issue. This doesn't mean that some games couldn't have had more inclusivity options - and some of the excuses given by companies are ridiculous. Princess Peach's dress would have been too much work for New Super Mario Bros? That's dumb, you're goddamn Nintendo, you have practically infinite resources. Not all criticisms are valid, but some are. Currently, most game developers are white men. They don't possess minority perspectives and they cannot (nor should be expected to) accurately present them. Of course, like I've said before, with more and more women (and other minorities) going into the game industry and more of them playing video games, their voices and visions will appear more. The problem is going to solve itself.

Yeah, I'm not going to lie, it's depressing. The misrepresentation doesn't even bother me anymore, it's the fact that any legitimate grievances and concerns - serious concerns regarding censorship, media corruption and artistic freedom - are now taboo by association because "nuh uh, this is an argument misogynists made, if you make it too you're misogynist!" And what bothers me most is that the white men who make these claims gave ****ing GTA 10/10. Hell, even on the other side. Discussions of actual women's issues are being ignored because "nuh uh, this argument is made by SJWs, if you make it too you're an SJW!". Important things are being ignored across the board and really there is no way forward until this dies down. EDIT: To add something more productive to this conversation, here's the perspective of Ryan Smith, the one person in the GameJournoPros convos who spoke out and questioned the others in how far they were willing to go to censor other viewpoints: https://medium.com/@ryansmithwriter/a-weird-insider-culture-d1c3cc644c29

Yes this is much better than Twitter comments, well done young grasshopper But I'll be honest I am missing the reason for all this attention on this issue, I'm not sure what you are saying this proves or means. This is how I understand the chain of events the 4chan forums leaked photos of nude celebrities the celebs are now hurt, embarrassed and angry ensure there publicists start doing anything to close down or harm 4chan This includes hiring a company to create this viral marketing which they admit to, so no conspiracy there Where is the issues? They admitted to it after the fact and that they admitted to it is irrelevant when compared to the fact that they intentionally created a false harassment campaign to create controversy and spread misinformation (if you don't consider that to be wrong I don't know what to tell you). I find it relevant because it demonstrates how easy it is as well as how willing the nebulous "they" (meaning the cultural marxists and third wave feminists who wish to control media messages who I am assuming are responsible for this) are to create falsify information and spread it which is wrong regardless of what their intentions are. The end justifies the means to these people and that is an objectively awful way to conduct yourself. Also, it is relevant in the way that it demonstrates that the people creating the false narratives still don't do the research as they continue to pretend that 4chan is some kind of single entity rather than a random place for people with all kinds of opinions to gather anonymously. I also find it relevant because before they admitted it, the only sources reporting on the truth were social media posts while journalists and other media picked it up as the truth which goes again to prove that what is posted on social media should not be dismissed out of hand rather than looked at on a case by case basis. So essentially, it's very relevant as it lends credibility to a lot of the claims of conspiracy and collusion by GamerGaters. Kazerad sums up most of my current feelings on GamerGate pretty well and reinforces to me why it is important: http://kazerad.tumblr.com/post/98113646063/gamergate-primer-finale Especially this section:

Double post, but Rantic confirms they faked the threat against Emma Watson. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-09-24/emma-watson-threats-actually-stunt-to-shut-down-4chan/5766882 Look, an actual source! EDIT: I found this when someone answered this link to the question of Wikipedia Bias. Respected college educations offering extra credit to people for adding "feminist principles of social justice" to Wikipedia (their words, not mine). http://www.campusreform.org/?ID=5028 Does that seem somewhat problematic to anyone else or is it just me? I'm all for closing the gender gap but this isn't adding a female perspective but an idealogy's perspective.

Oh hell, the TYFC situation is also linked to Silverstring Media? I'm getting very concerned about this. I wrote it off as being a little too high on the conspiracy theory ladder before but it's sounding more and more likely.
-
Fair enough. At the time I posted that, however, emmayournext.com actually redirected to rantic.com. No longer.
-
Haha, that's pretty damning. I felt my posts regarding people getting doxxed and media companies pulling strings were fairly relevant to the topic of censorship.

http://theralphretort.com/exclusive-milo-boogie-baldwin-apparently-doxxed/ Several key GamerGate people have been reportedly doxxed, including Adam Baldwin. I wouldn't report it because it's a biased source with biased people but Boogie2988 cut ties with GamerGate over two weeks ago and denounced it and he confirmed that he was actually doxxed, which gives it more credibility to me. https://twitter.com/Boogie2988/status/514624753756536834
