I liked him in the first one. -
What's on the idiot box Part 4 (or something)

Maybe another channel will pick it up... but not likely. I also just heard they're turning Rush Hour, the Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker movie series, into a show (albeit with a different cast). My first instinct was to hate it, until I found it it's being run by Bill Lawrence (Scrubs). Now I'm mildly curious. -
I gotta say, the Solaris remake wasn't as good as the original but sometimes I watch just the first couple of minutes or so because the opening is gorgeous.
-
Because, we hate people who ask for equal treatment on instinct. God instilled that in us after Satan asked for equal rights. (Did that one fare better on the Poe's law front?)
-
Why Edgar Allen Poe? That's not the Poe that refers to.
-
I was trying to be sarcastic.

...Is now clickbait journalism also the fault of the SJW conspiracy? Obviously. (On a side note, SJW conspiracy implies SJWs are organized. The only thing SJWs hate more than non-SJWs is other SJWs.)

Hm, I felt that while the interviewee didn't protest reading to your kids, that is what the interviewer was trying to focus on.
-
Probably nothing. Every single example of an artistic director getting free reign and massive budgets has ended in disaster. Limitation breeds creativity.
-
It's the parents who don't read to their kids that are disadvantaging those kids.

So pretty much the entire canon is going to be in Civil War except for Hulk and Thor.

There's very little point to discussing such films if it's not for professional reasons anyway. Everything that has to be said about them has been said. It's an empty excercise. There's no fun or thrill in theorizing to find out where they're going to go next. But essentially saying "I love an intellectual novel but I can't go on a rollercoaster and enjoy it" doesn't make you superior, it makes you very clearly inferior. Hell, I'll one-up it - psh, why talk about hacks like Kurosawa? You can't tell a story in a 2 hours movie! Read a book, movies are for people without intellectual understanding! Read something by Danielewski instead otherwise you're dumb! Pretentious nonsense.
-
So liking popcorn entertainment and more highbrow fare is mutually exclusive now? That sounds utterly pretentious. People like different things for different reasons and being judgy about it is just revealing how insecure you really are about how nobody else seems to like what you like.

Nein nein. Thor is a crippled nerd named Donald Blake before he picks up the hammer.

Meet Zappa. There's a bunch of pictures of him behind the link. They make me smile. http://www.boredpanda.com/sid-lookalike-greyhound-tongue-dog-zappa/

Fem-Thor is not a concept I have an issue with. I actually think she's really cool. I just have an issue with it being used for anvilicious reasons. Like that aforementioned fight, and how people pretend it's a great leap forward when what the message it's really giving is "popular female superheroes can only exist by piggybacking on the mileage of male ones". That doesn't seem to be an image worth striving for.

Where's the Twitter storm? #malesexualdysfunction

Although Joss Whedon has plainly come out and said that the rumor he was chased off by abuse is nonsense, because radical feminists have always been harassing him and he's used to it. Not sure if that makes it better or worse. -
As long as it's not Milo.

Sawyer on vacation?

Yeah, if that stupid little flamewar didn't derail this topic already, I think that did. -
Glad I'm not the only one who doesn't do mobile gaming. It just doesn't appeal to me. It's not really photography if you do it with your mobile.

Now I feel bad because I have the same and I'm not that old.

Googling "Witcher SJW backlash" gets me nowhere.

I don't. He's rich. That's fair.

Yes, that's my view as well. A couple of years ago my girlfriend nearly died from an ectopic pregnancy and fell into depression for a long time after that partially due to the physical reaction of the hormones resetting and rebalancing themselves, so I am very aware of how fertility issues affect real women and I consider shaming women for naturally feeling that way to be much more offensive than anything on that list. In fact, if someone were to call my girlfriend sexist for having been depressed about it to my face, I'm not sure I would be able to stop myself from seriously hurting them.

Warning, this post goes into possible SPOILERS about a movie that's barely out. That is one of the reasons, yes - I feel Boogie hasn't looked into it very long, since I've heard more complaints. Here's the objections I've heard so far. - Black Widow refers to herself as a monster because she cannot have children, which exploits female emotional pain. - Black Widow refers to herself as a monster because she cannot have children, this demeans women by implying their worth is in childbearing. - Black Widow refers to herself as a monster because she cannot have children, this is transmisogynistic because transgender women cannot have children by default. - Black Widow falls for "a nice guy" with "anger issues" and says she loves him because at his core he is a nice guy, which is supposedly a representation of women abused by their significant others. - Black Widow gets captured and is rescued by a man. - Black Widow gets upset when a man she loves leaves her behind. - Black Widow black widow black widow. - Black Widow is portrayed as helping the men rather than being a hero in her own right. - Black Widow is called upon to be the caregiver that calms down the Hulk via maternal behaviour. - Black Widow sideboob, exploitation, duh. - Black Widow tight uncomfortable form fitting leather suit, exploitation, duh. - Scarlet Witch is portrayed as needing a man (her brother) to protect her in an "owning way". - The male characters (Iron Man and Thor in this case) brag about which trophy wife is superior. - Iron Man, at one point, jokes about bringing back Prima Nocta. This is, apparently, a rape joke. - Last but not least, the heroes engage in masculine conflict resolution reinforcing patriarchy. Writing the word Widow so often makes the word look odd, like I'm suddenly more aware of the shape of the word than the meaning. These are the complaints I read, 90% of which are deliberately negative interpretations or blatant lies and the rest is just nonsense or overreacting. I feel bad for the guy, nobody deserves this amount of online abuse. It's funny that some news sites report it as "bullied by feminists is just a narrative, these are just anonymous internet trolls" yet if it was anyone else they wouldn't have hesitated to label them a hate group (something Joss himself was guilty of, referring to GG as "KKK Daycare"). There's a little sense of poetry to it, not only because of his earlier stances, but also considering he recently dogpiled the creators of Jurassic World on twitter by bashing it for being "70's era sexist". But either way, it still sucks and just goes to prove that that they eat their own. Another thing Boogie tweeted about sums it up (paraphrased): If Joss Whedon wasn't enough of a feminist for you then your standards might very well be impossible for a man to achieve. By design.
