Suddenly started getting an extremely sore throat last night and now I'm full blown sick. This is my day so far:
-
The gold from garrisons has already been nerfed, I'm sure they'll nerf it again. I'm thinking professions will be the way to make gold again next expansion, which means I seriously hope they overhaul the profession system because grinding mats and making crafts is the most boring thing on the planet.

Your loss, was actually pretty fascinating this time.

It's the annoying "I'm being totally condescending but that's okay because I use a smiley face" thing that does it, right? Yeah, it's not like he was preaching to people about the systemic opression and objectification of women whilst perpetuating said horrid practices like some kind of hypocrite. Did I do it right? Seriously though Cheong is a jerk who jumped on the SJ bandwagon for clickbait money, realized he was alienating his audience and jumped back off and onto the pro-Gamer bandwagon for clickbait money. This guy's not your friend.

Of course since WoW fans are insane, like ten fake leaks have shown up in the last couple of days - the most interesting of which involved getting your own boat to explore islands. That sounded pretty fun to me.

I wouldn't mind something "like" the Garrisons as long as those problems are adressed and there's something else to do other than log in, play Facebook game, log out. Especially for someone like me who doesn't raid there's just not much else to do right now.

Malc's post showed up just as I was writing, but he's got the most of it. Essentially, with the exception of the new Hellfire Citadel raid, there isn't a piece of content in the game right now that wasn't originally planned for the expansion's launch and still some of the stuff planned for the launch isn't in it, let alone the patch content they promised which would have the Farahlon and Ogre Empire zones. They also showed much more customization options for your garrison that didn't make it in. There's also story threads they talked about at BlizzCon that just got dropped - if you play alliance, one of the lead NPCs is a Draenei named Yrel and at BlizzCon it was said throughout the expansion we would find out about her dark secret, yet she turned out to be essentially a pristine Paladin character. Metzen also confirmed Grom Hellscream was the end boss of the expansion and he's... not. That may have been a red herring, but it's pretty blatantly a lie. This combined with the fact that Warlords actually came out substantially later than Blizzard originally estimated (which isn't weird for Blizzard standards, but hasn't happened to their WoW expansions as much as their other titles) and having only two content patches, only one of which actually had any real content most of which was promised at launch - despite claiming they had doubled the size of their WoW content team - makes me think they had an internal problem with the game, cut a bunch of stuff out, and moved more manhours to the following expansion considering this one to be something of a lost cause. The fact that their general release timetable after an announcement means that this expansion will be able to capitalize on the big movie coming out next year also supports that idea - looks like they pushed all their manpower into the new expansion to make sure it'll be done in time for the movie. Either way, we'll see on the 6th at Gamescon. I'm hoping for a playable demo, since I'm going to Gamescon on the 8th.

I feel like WoD was a victim to some kind of internal struggle. There's no other reason why so much content actually shown and playable at conventions didn't make it into the game.
-
Dunno if anyone here still plays WoW, but Blizz just announced that they will announce a new expansion at Gamescon on August 6th.

Its kind of the same as the concept artist, where they just ask you to change things because either they changed their minds or the concept doesn't translate well into 3D. It could also be that I'm not that talented I doubt it, that's just clients being clients. The thing about clients is while they come to you to get the job done, they think they know how to do the job better.

Gets see through too? That's what mine do.

As someone who has filled two of those roles and knows people who fill the other three, that is the most truefact gaming strip ever written in the history of gaming strips. I kinda wish it had an entry for 3D Artists too.

I've tried to read that book several times. I stop everytime because it gets under my skin too much.

Sometimes I feel like you must be a shared account for multiple people, because you obviously didn't even read what you wrote. No, I do not want to turn it into a serious discussion. The post of mine that you quoted was an obvious joke, asking "do albinos have more or less white privilege" and you responded with MORE, because they get cut up in Africa. In other words, you utterly ****ed up your own post. My response for that was not turning it into a serious discussion, my response to that was me mocking you because you can't write things that make any kind of sense. Here's a tip, next time you accuse other people on this board of not being able to comprehend English properly, why don't you learn to write basic thoughts in that language first.
-
Um, how is that MORE white privilege? Unless you're saying getting cut to pieces is a white privilege?
-
What about black albinos?
-
Do albinos have more or less white privilege?

I don't like boards that are too rigid. We try to be as open as... well, the guidelines that Obs set for us allow, really. It helps that the guidelines are guidelines and they say "interpreted by moderators". Plus the annoying thing about banning is that even armed with just a browser you can set up a million vpns and get around it. Banning usually just means hunting down alts after. It's much easier to make sure we can catch bad material before you guys see it. Occassionally the wrong thing still slips through, though.

I don't see how it's a barb at a dead artist, he didn't write the script. At worst it's a barb at Nolan.

"Support your point of view with facts" is unreasonable criticism? Having the facts is a requirement for serious debate, otherwise you're just talking about nothing. You are not having an honest and serious debate. In any sense of those words. It's not a debate, you're obviously not willing to take it seriously and you're certainly not being any kind of honest.

Serrano's experience jives with mine. It'll just fall off by itself, and it takes a really long time to grow a new toenail.

I love "so bad its good" movies too. But for the life of me, I don't understand how Sharknado got to be on that list because that's just bad. It has literally two laughs in it - one scene, and the title. It's no The Room, or Birdemic, or Troll 2. Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus was fun with how terrible it is. Sharknado is just boring. It was painfully engineered for cult approval.

I have to be honest I would have thought you would be one of the people who understood my post and reasoning? I do understand it. I just think it's bull. I know white privilege is a thing. I just don't care because acknowledging it, or not acknowledging it, makes absolutely no difference. The questions you originally posed still weren't answered - what does it mean for him that you acknowledged it? He feels a little better because someone who was dealt a good hand in life acknowledged him while he was dealt a **** hand. He was already dealt that **** hand, however, so acknowledging doesn't change that. Playing your cards in a way to help people with **** hands dealt to them or to give new hands being dealt a better chance of being good, that's meaningful. The fact that the hand you were dealt was good due to no control of your own is pointless to dwell upon. You claim you're already doing a lot to try to make it a better place for less fortunate people, to educate people about racism, etc. so what does this change for you, going forward? Are you going to help more than you already did? What does this change for the man who got you to acknowedge it, going forward? Are you going to help him, specifically? Why and how does it matter? Why is your white advantage constantly under scrutiny while it's their black disadvantage we need to be taking a closer look at? The world would be a much better place if people pointing fingers and going "this person has an advantage I don't have, let's attack them" and started pointing fingers and going "this person has a disadvantage I don't have, let's help them" - more people would be helped, and less people would be polarized against those trying to help. Have you never stopped to wonder why so many people are now against those who talk about "social justice"? It's because they constantly focus on and attack people for **** that doesn't matter. So you've accepted your white privilege - so what? Here's a way to look at it - I've lived with mental disorders for my entire life. Products of my formative environment, who I was born to, how my bodychemistry works. People who don't have to deal with depression, chemical imbalance, social anxiety etc. have a massive advantage over me. I could spend my time bitching at people to acknowledge they have it better than me and their problems don't matter as much as mine, but how does that help anyone? Instead, I try to talk to people who deal with the same thing and help them and raise awareness by pointing out my disadvantage instead of their advantage. Because the fact that someone I talk to is healthy doesn't change anything.
