You won't get Ossus robes everytime you get there, you get random Jedi items depending on your current level. It's good to get them later on in the game.

You don't do that after the battle, you do it during the battle, before you get to the queens chamber. It's an actual room in the palace that you can walk into and loot.

You can loot it during the battle. You could always except the credits and still get the contents of the musuem.

I think that they decided to name the military campaign portion of the war something along the lines of the "Sith and Republic war" and the war between the jedi and the sith "The Jedi Civil War.". The JCW may have continued long after the battle for the starforge as people act as though it had effected them more specifically then the military campaign style part of the war.
