  1. I know more than you apparently, if you want the government to spy on everybody. Can you explain what exactly do you mean by "islamists"?
  2. Dude even with your strange Netherlands view of politics you can't really think Trump would benefit the USA ? He will take the USA backwards Backwards? In what regard? From what i know of Trump, i'd say in every regard.
  3. Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety. One of your founding fathers said that, i believe?
  4. It's not that strage at all. He's an ex-KGB. A lot of other politicians started their careers back in USSR too. And they never really got the memo that USSR is gone. For all intents and purposes it still isn't for them. So from that point of view their behavior, that to a normal person seems bizzare, is comletely logical. For them Cold War is still on.
  5. Well, i don't know if the West wants him gone or not, but to me it seems most likely that what happened in Ukraine will happen in Russia. People are tired (or getting tired) of constant fear mongering and of corruption, especially the younger generation is not interested in opposing West at all. Quite the contrary really, people want to be a part of it. So in case of revolution, i don't really see any radicals coming to power. Just to give you an example, the biggest opposition leader, Navalny, who is very much pro-West, got 30% on mayoral election in Moscow in 2013. And that's without any access to TV or press or anything like that, with government actively trying to stop him, just through his own efforts and with the help of thousands of volunteers. So yeah, most people just want to live their lifes peacefully in a country they can be proud of.
  6. Most likely another war since he won't give his power away under any circumstance.
  7. One thing you have to understand about Russia, is that there's A LOT of propaganda here. TV and most papers at this point are nothing but brainwashing. People get told everyday how evil West is planning to destroy Russia, and that US is literally behind everything that is happening. So a lot of people, those who maybe don't use internet all that much, don't know much about the world outside their little circle, believe in at least some of that because they don't know any better and that's what they're used to. A lot of people still have USSR-like mentality, where you just keep your mouth shut. But the thing is, just like it happened with USSR, even if they say they support Putin, 99% of them would never defend him if there was a revolution.
  8. This is not true AT ALL. These numbers are 100% phoney. Not to say that there aren't people like this, but they're not that common at all. Like for example whenever they do a pro-government rally, they actually have to force people to come, like students and government workers. Most people, like everywhere else i imagine, don't care one way or another. And there's a pretty significant portion (around 30% i guess) that actually hate Putin and what he had done with Russia. In fact, with the way things are right now, i'd say revolution, just like it was in Ukraine, is very much a possibility in the next 5-10 years.
  9. Interesting. And how exactly the west is planning to remove him? Assassination? Nah, making life so hard for regular russians, due to various embargos, that they would remove him from power themselves. Well, as a russian, i can only thank the west for that. They're doing something useful for a change. Can't wait when he's finally gone.
  10. Interesting. And how exactly the west is planning to remove him? Assassination?
  11. I see. Though i absolutely can expect him, or anyone else, to be reasonable. For example i know very well what it's like to be afraid to be blown by a suicide bomber. Still, i would never blame ~15 million russian muslims for actions of extremists. Bad experiences are no excuse for hate and intolerance.
  12. Please tell me more what would happen in my own country, because i obviously don't know anything about it.
  13. I'm not sure if Meshugger was talking specifically about that, but that's certainly a valid point. And there's definitely no easy answer here. Whatever decision you make, someone's going to get hurt. So, i guess, it all really comes to what kind of people we want to be. Do we turn people in need away because they're different and that will cause us some problems? I guess you can't blame europians if they choose it, it's their home after all, but i'm a bit of an idealist and i want to think that we're better than that. I feel like there's gotta be a better way than just ignoring syrian/african refugees. Not exactly sure what you're trying to say here, but why would i be offended by it anyway? I'm not Putin, just because i live in Russia doesn't mean i'm not critical about it. So you can say whatever you want freely.
  14. And what you're talking about has nothing to do with Islam but Chechnya, and the fact that it's ruled pretty much by a bunch of bandits, by people who faught against Russia. But sure, f it. Let's oversimplify everything and blame Islam for the incredibly complex issues happening around the world right now. That will surely solve every problem.
  15. Lol. No, it's just that i don't equate people who practice Islam with "islamists". http://pressa.today/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/Miting_musulman_v_Moskve_25_janvarja.jpg This is what happenes every year in Moscow, and yet somehow the city is still standing.
  16. These are people are running away from exactly the thing those terrorists represent. If they were "Islamists", why would they run? No. https://twitter.com/YanniKouts/status/665555110467084289 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2958517/The-Mediterranean-sea-chaos-Gaddafi-s-chilling-prophecy-interview-ISIS-threatens-send-500-000-migrants-Europe-psychological-weapon-bombed.html Besides, Read again. So because of one syrian passport and an article in DailyMail you're willing to condemn millions of people?
  17. These are people are running away from exactly the thing those terrorists represent. If they were "Islamists", why would they run?
  18. Then explain to me why Islam is responsible for what happened in Chechnya, yet everywhere else in Russia muslims manage to live happily with everyone else without any problems. Surely if it was at least in some way the cause of what happened, something similar would've happened elsewhere? Or why Christianity hasn't been banned yet, since there was plenty of killing done in its name too. Also, this story is interesting. http://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-22356306 Almost like it doesn't matter what your religion is teaching you, hateful people will always find a way and some excuse to hate. And german example is very much relevant. Sure, religion wasn't the main part of their ideology, but then again where do you think hatred of jews came from exactly? Christianity, of course.
  19. And german soldiers had "Gott mit uns" on their belts during WW2. So what? Explain how muslims in Tatarstan are responsible for ramblings of some lunatics in Chechnya.
  20. And? What you said has nothing to do with my point. Which is that Chechnya is only one small region and what happened there had nothing to do with Islam per se, but other factors.
  21. Your point? Are you sure? Because i remember hearing that more people die in US from right-wing terrorism than from Islamic one...
  22. Chechnya what? Just as i said, it's a region, not a religion. Causes of that war were socio-economical, it had nothing to do with Islam per se. Just because some use it as a shield doesn't mean anything. You do realise that Chechnya is only one small Islamic region out of many in Russia?
  23. It has less to do with specific religion and more with the region from where it all comes from. I live in Russia and we have millions of muslims, and most of them don't cause any problems whatsoever.
