I have finished the quest about the battle of yenwood without problems. The quest is solved and the angry mob and the marshall are gone. Much later I get the message that the stronhold is attacked by bandits. I returned to the stronghold and chose to solve this manually. I chose to start the battle when I was in the grand hall. I was teleported outside and my party and my hirelings defeted the enemies. During this battle, the angry mob and the marshall stood before the castle entrance. When the fight was over, I stood outside and the mob and marshall are still there. When I talk to the marshall and tell him to start the battle, nothing happens, the dialogue field closes and when I talk to him again he says the same thing again. The marshall is outside with the mob, nobody is inside. I have made a save, but for some reasons I cannot make a link to dropbox from this computer. Tomorrow I can give you the link from another computer.

Thanks When people ask about builds, the answers assume usually that you have the best possible equipment. But somehow you have to survive until you get there. So if you have a char without special equipment who wears an armor, is it better to dual wield normal sabres or a normal greatsword? I think about paladins, fighters and barbariens who use auto attacks (you have only a few per encounter abilities). In my current game I failed the battle to start the white forge the first time (the golem army around the white forge), then I did the rest of act2 and the side quests in WM1 and now I will try again. As for rimecutter and some other things, Azurro did not appear in my game so far, even though I have build all buildings of the stronghold and I had several guests and quests.

I knew there was something. This thing from a stronghold quest boosts healing done. I did some thinking. Is dual wielding or 2h better for a damaging paladin? Especially if he wants as much finishing blows as possible. FoD is a full attack, so dual would be better here. This is a front liner so he needs some armor. You suggested the sanguine plate, that sounds good. I read somewhere that heavy armor gives a greater penalty for 1h or 2h than for dual wield (you do more % of the time attacking in a whole attack/recover cycle). Is this true? Any information about this game is outdated fast. I chose 2h sword mostly for role playing reasons (in memory of the good old holy avenger) I gave pallagine tidefall in my current game. I gave her st. waidwens redeemer, but for the next upgrade I have to revieve her 5 times in combat. It is almost impossible to die in most battles (I play on hard, not PotD), and in a hard battle I want to keep my party alive.

In der Dyrfurter Flusskreuzung, wenn man zum Drachenei klettert. Ich hatte das auf englisch gepostet und hinterher gespeichrt. Auf deutsch ist das "temp" aber auch da.

This happened to me too. I did quest in the basement of the sanitorium. When I came out somebody told me to meet Lady Hardret. I remembered reading this bug and went to the cliff before talking to lady Hardret. Sagani asked me about Thaos at the cliff. I think you get the name "Thaos" from Lady Hadret. I am not 100% sure, but I think I installed the game as 3.0. I am not sure if I started playing before or after installing 3.01.

I got the message that my stronghold has a visitor. I visited the stronghold, talked to that person and gained +1 reputation and some exp. The stronghold status tells me that the visitor has left the stronghold. The stronghold action screen looks like this image. If I look at this image I get the impression that the visitor is still there. It looked like this for every visitor I had so far. Is this intended? PS: It is the same in german. This was the reason why I changed the language and I found out that the status screen is still german, as posted in the other thread.
-
I play in german. Then I switched the language to english. The stronghold status screen (the list where you can see what happened each day or round) is still in german. Everything else is in english. I use the german translation mod (it is another language you can select in the menu), but I did not change anything else in the game.

I fight those fish people on the bride near durgans battery. After killing one of them a ghost appeared (pink circle, a bit hard to see because it is transparent). The ghost was rotating all the time and it moved slowly downward. This had no influence on the actual battle. Something similar happened in lv4 of the endless path when fighting beetles. That time the ghost of the beetle was rotating and moved to the right. I was too slow to press pause and make a screenshot then.

Thanks some things: - I thought there was an item that increases healing done. Maybe it has been changed or I read something wrong. - Healing is calculated this way and not in the same way as damage? final = base * ( 1 + sum of all mods) In your example the healing would be 150, not 156. - FoD is a full attack, so dual wielding triggers the effect (in this case healing) twice? If this is true, then dual wielding vent pick with another weapon would also trigger the effect twice? Weapon focus ruffian and a sabre in the other hand would be nice. Pistol as ranged weapon. - strange mercy and sword and shepard heal only others, not the paladin himself?
-
Sorry, but what is "vent pick"? This is from another thread: "Back in 2.03 I thought Strange Mercies was good at level 2 and was still better than nothing at high levels. That was when it did not scale with level. Now at level 14 my Kind Wayfarer heals like 170 endurance with LoH and like 105 endurance in an AoE with Strange Mercies. It is really strong now." So it looks like this is really useful. One more question: - things that boost "healing done" increases all healing you do on others and on yourself. It only works with your talents and abilities. (This would be very good for this char) - things that boost "healing received" increase the endurance gain from all sources for this char (his own abilities, abilities from others on him, drinking potions). This would be good for a tank. Do I understand this correctly?

I was in durgans battery, in the area where you can find the bounty (Meztla?) My group was south of there. I send Zahua up and as soon as combat started, he ran south. One of the enemies came to me and I killed her. From now on combat started and stopped every few seconds and I saw in the combat log that those bandits fight trolls and ice bugs. I could lure some human enemies to me, one or 2 at a time (which was very annoying because combat started and stopped all the time) Finally all enemies that were standing around were dead and my group went north. The remaining human bandits were fighting trolls and bugs. I killed them all which was easy because they attacked each other, not me. I was in combat all the time while I was fighting enemies and combat ended after all bandits, trolls and bugs were dead. I play on hard difficulty.

I have found this item: GM had Kanas turban (int +1) equipped. Then I equipped this item. I was out of combat, so I had full endurance. The int of GM did not change. Then I unequipped the turban and her int went up. I did not have any other int boosting things. steps to reproduce: - GM has a base int of 17 - Equip Kanas turban -> int = 18 - Equip this amulet while Kanas turban is equipped -> int = 18 - remove Kanas Turban and keep the talisman equipped -> int = 19 - equip Kanas turban again while she wears the amulett -> int = 19 expected behaviour: The item with the strongest bonus should always be active and suppress items with lower bonusses.

Same you can say about Edwin. Liked both dwarfs in 1 and 2 part. But well, my party was always evil.. so no place for Minsc I ended up always with max reputation, so there was no place for edwin, korgan or Viconia . Even my evil thief was only evil so he could use some equipment. Randomly killing and stealing to lose reputation is not something I like. BG2 more or less forced you to be a hero. This is one of many things where PoE is better then BG2. Class balance is also better in PoE. Some builds are still better than others, but (for example) there is no kensai -> mage (also called god mode )
-
I read the chrono trigger party and I thought about doing the same for BG2 My standard group was: - Me (best thing was a fighter -> thief, because there was no pure thief in the game who was there for the entire game) - Imoen (human thief -> mage) - Minsc (human ranger) - Jaheira (half elf fighter/druid) - Keldorn (human paladin) - (Sir) Anomen (human fighter -> cleric) for PoE this means: - Imoen is a human mage. You were limited to thief weapons in BG2, so she gets hunting bow and quarterstaff. To show that she was once a thief, she gets the mechanics skill. She gets high dex, int and per, which fits well to a CC mage - Minsc is a human ranger. Now he has an animal companion that does the thinking for him. Unfortuanatly you cannot select a hamster. He fights was a warbow and has dump int and max might. - Jaheira is a wood elf druid (sorry, she was not pale enough for a pale elf, though it would be better talent wise). In Bg2 she used weapon and shield. I have read that druids can be tanks in PoE. - Keldorn is a human paladin. He is a front liner with heavy armor and greatsword. - Anomen is a priest. since he was a fighter in his past, he is a priest of Magram. - And finally there is me. I hope Keldorn, Jaheira and Minscs pet are enough for the front line, so I take a rogue. In Bg2 my thief fought with the draining sword (In hell, you have the choice to give it away or to kill somebody with it, name forgotten) in the main hand and chrom fayr (Hammer that gave max strengh) in the off hand. In PoE I will dual wield sabres (Though I have heard that there is a soulbound hammer too) and take steath for max damage with sneak attacks. note: This is just an idea. It is unlikely that I play with them because I prefer the story companions over self made ones.

The weapon switching on charm is in this game since it was released. I have a theory: Charmed characters select the weapon with the highest damage. This is to prevent that the player simply selects fists as weapon when a char is about to be charmed, and then the charmed char does no damage. In version 1.06, charmed chars always switched to a ranged weapon, because most ranged weapons have high damage. They also have a long reload time, but the game does not care about that. Monks have the talent transcendent suffering. It increases the damage and accurancy of the fist, but it does not replace the "default fist" with a "fist+1". So the game thinks the char is equiped with the "default fist" and switches to another weapon, because any weapon does more damage than the "default fist". note: This theory combines effects from 1.06 and 3.01 (I did not play in between). I do not know what was changed in the meantime regarding this issue. PS: Later Durance was charmed and he kept his weapon. It was a bow that had a higher damage than any other weapon he had equipped.

3.01 bug?: ghost attacks ghost
Madscientist replied to Madscientist's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
I play on hard. Until now this was the only time where enemies attacked something they should not. I guess only watchers can see such ghosts so nobody would attack them. -
This is the northern part of the endless path lv7. Zahua (my tank) moved forward alone. A ghost of a human became visible. Zahua moved further and ghosts (enemies) became visible. Combat started and Zahua ran away to the south. The combat log shows that the enemies killed the human ghost. Combat music continued and I moved back there. An earth blight was retreating, but I killed it before it went back. The other enemies are still there. I do not know if it is intended that the human ghost is killed by the enemy ghosts, so I report it.

I was fighting Xaurips in the 5th level of the endless path. My char kills a xaurip high priest with tall grass. This is the last enemy of this group, after that I loot them (green text below) Blutbad = carnage, there is no target at all. It is the first time I see this error and I have no idea how to reproduce it.

Paladin Order
Madscientist replied to Brimsurfer's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Thanks I do not use the AI for abilities, they do only auto attacks when enemies are near. The only exception was Zahua, I don´t like to select torments reach for everyattack, even though this means he wastes stunning fist on enemies that are already stunned. I use sworn enemy only for really strong enemies. Pallagina uses it as first stike because of her wrath of the 5 suns. FoD with a strong ranged weapon (and maybe sneak attack) will be enough to destroy many targets, like some nasty casters. The best battles are those where you do not need healing because enemies die very fast or because you can keep strong enemies CCed. Killing as much as possible with the initial strike sounds better than waiting to use strong abilities until you really need healing. This does not work always, but when it works it should be done.
