  1. Debating playing Empire:Total War given it just got a MASSIVE update today.
  2. Actually I've found that after the first or second book this series goes downhill into cliche faster than Michael Bay's Explosions. The main character is actually the only guy in the world to have both types of magic, and he always has some fight of the month against an indescribably nasty person, and randomly pulls new powers out of his hat to save his friends and family from said nasty people. And did I mention he's also the superpowered seeker of truth that'll is given OTHER special powers and is viewed by the fates as friggin sweet? The first book is pretty interesting because most of this stuff doesn't happen (well except for the bad guy bit) and a lot is covered up (there's also a funny bit having to do with a wizard, a lynch mob, and the definition of the term witch).
  3. We do have to have the friggin awesome (or designed that way at least) person who does everything as cinematically perfect as possible, but only really shows up for one or two levels.
  4. I think the reason people like it so much is that it's so political and complicated that they can't wrap their minds around it. Also it's more like real life than anything (where things never go how they're supposed to) else in the genre. but it does take FOREVER to get started and doesn't really kick off until the wars of succession begin amongst the various noble houses. Which (I think) really starts in the second freaking book (and these are 7-800 page books!) Is it good? If you can stand the slow pace then yes, but if you're looking for something that you don't have to slog through (for the first bit) then pick up something else... Like Insturmentalities of the Night :D
  5. Tell me you're joking. Negatory there captain. It's all in Knaaks "war of the ancients" trilogy.
  6. I didn't get a single power... I think I basically escaped then got rescued by the "good" aliens then was running through a ship as it disintigrated when the thing crashed.
  7. Yeah... on advent rising I only got to the senate planet thing before it bugged out beyond repair, but I was unimpressed by the writing or the general game.
  8. ... if I were the defendant in this case I'd probably as for the judge to decide rather than a jury, then hammer home that overall you only owed the record company 48 bucks.
  9. World of Warcraft meets Elric of Melnibon
  10. Anansi Boys
  11. Black Company Dread Empire Insturmentalities of the Night third is arguably the best series by the author (Glenn Cook)
  12. Tried some madden... Learned I have a lot to learn... I'm guessing I'll be at "pro" level after a couple of serious hours with it.
  13. You need to have the hero be a peasant boy with a stick who is able to do all that... and then later he falls for and wins the heart of the head sun-maiden and god approves even if he doesn't like the idea of non virgins... then they have a jesus baby and live happily ever after.
  14. well... this is basic fantasy, that's Japan territory which is a WHOLE other ballgame.
  15. Actually... Jon Stewart admitted it was the Daily Shows secret spy. As to the shoe question, Obama could probably jump OVER the shoe that was tossed at him.
  16. Wende, you're missing the princess who secretly falls in love with the charming peasent boy and betrays daddy just to get a shot at being one of his candidates for bride... then is used by her daddy to lure the hero to his death (only to have him survive the trials which sets up for the final battle). And it's not the boy who becomes king... it's the guy who he met who helped him start on his way to becoming the "hero of the land" who becomes king, and the boy retires back to his simple farming existence with his ex-high society wife and has a happy 50's family with no complaints and the wife LOVES her new farming lifestyle rather than being waited on and clean at the castle.
  17. What about the prince who doesn't know he's a prince trying to save the princess (who can kick anyones ass) and her twin sister (who is the standard damsel in distress) from the evil count who is unequivocally evil but the population never knows it despite the fact that the count literally murders babies in the streets... Oh and the guy from the all evil race who isn't evil because he was born special. This is the guy who can kill anyone and everyone with a glance.
  18. Like all good things it is up to the DM to decide Or Admin I think it'd be nice if they implimented all of those ranks rather than just wizardry. Of course I think I'd like to be known as Superman but that's just me
  19. Yes, well, the Citadel and the UCW were the only ones where you could do any exploration and side quests, so not really like KOTOR. Ya-no... There were sidequests on the two first plot planets, you just had to look for em. Dagon, you should really stop thumping your chest about Kotor... nothing ever good comes out of it.
  20. Infamous does the city and it's environs a LOT better. Personally I'd take infamous over prototype anyday. As it stands right now Prototype is fun for a few hours then just gets boring. The biggest problems I had were the lack of a weapon that did range, and the seeming tunnel vision of your enemies (you can literally absorb one while he's blowing in his buddies ear and the other guy won't notice).
  21. Launchie? *sigh* I miss her
  22. it's western eastern (if you get that) I liked mirrors edge but it should have been much longer....
  23. went to class and found out that Supertankers actually have their own gravity field that actually is noticable (you can't park two of those next to each other because they'll attract and bump into one another). >.>
  24. Command was the only game I thought wasn't just a reskin overall... Eliteforce was a generic shooter with a star trek skin, and armada was the same thing but with RTS mechanics. They did have a few unique things but the most remarkable about them that I remember is the star trek decour, and (in Armada) a new resource. but Command actually had you running around as the captain of a ship doing missions and trying to save the universe etc. More combat than a season of trek in it, but it was overall pretty good (if complicated).
