I'm playing SC2 now and funnily enough I truly miss those long, arduous missions. All SC2 missions feel far too short and too easy, even on hard. And the cutscenes in SC were indeed a good reward imo. The SC campaign just satisfies me entirely overall, unlike the SC2 campaign. It's definitely great fun, but it's just too short and easy! That's my only problem with it. I think there needed to be one or two seiges in SC2. Not have every mission be an hour long war, but one or two missions where there wasn't an objective with a time limit, where you had to annihilate a massive well built, well fortified base without the help of a special unit. With an AI that actually has a brain/bonuses.

That whole show is made of awesome. DBZ? Cause that's Adolf Hitler going Super Sayin in a manga NOT with Goku.

A couple things. One is that I think the difficulty curve is low because in theory you can get the missions in about any order from the "hub" style. This is why in an RTS it's usually better to have the missions be linear, even if it's to a minor degree (have several story missions spread along the mission path to act as bottlenecks so that the story and difficulty can keep track of where you are). I don't think I'm supposed to be using Thor's before I get one of my lower tech air support units. Also, I felt that the difficulty on the very last mission all of a sudden jumped seven points because of how it works out. I won't spoil it. Ultimately I think they might have had to much variety in their missions. You don't need a new gimmick for each of the missions that you end up handing out. I mean there were more missions that had a forced gameplay style (where you have to use a certain offensive style) than those where you're in a slug match. I mean I can understand the need to vary gameplay but I don't want to have to save sam and frodo every time I start a mission. I mean 1/5th the missions are ones where you don't get much in the way of minerals and gas so you just have to scavenge it from the terrain. As to the mercs thing, I can understand why they wouldn't let you pull em out right off the bat. They just rock everyone that comes near them in the same tech area. Ship needed to be beefed up with either more little side things, or slimmed down so you didn't have to load any time you wanted to upgrade your machines or add new research. Also more characters of consequence would have been nice. It felt like they were trying to add in more characters, but ran out of time and money so they had to get rid of em. There's a scene near the end where Jim ends up looking like a badass and his crew says "Thats the commander I've been looking for". But we've never been introduced to these guys, we only really know Swan, Egon, Tychus, and Horner from our ship, and yet we're supposed to act like these extra characters are someone to care about. And like Tav said, there are a couple of characters that show up in the campaign who remove themselves (or are removed) fairly swiftly, basically they're a bit of a "Look who you have in your party" tease. And finally, SC2 is set up so that before the final acts there are several storylines going on. The propaganda war/rebellion, saving some colonists, helping out an enemy of Mengsk by playing pirate, and then hunting down artifacts for money. Problem is that they aren't well marked and the story segregates them from each other. So one minute you could be trying to sneak away with damaging sound bytes, the next you could be pulling colonists out of the fire and the characters on your ship say NOTHING about the other mission beyond your current story. So if you're playing this over a long period you would have 0 clue wtf was going on because there are so many plot lines that it'd become a tangled mess. It also doesn't help that two of the plot lines feel like they don't even tie into the story, but instead just are there to round out your missions so you have unit unlocks. And finally, why do I feel like I fought more Terrans than Zerg or Protoss in that game? Seriously one entire story is fighting terrans, and then in two of the others there are points where you have to fight a Terran military contingent. I'm playing as Terrans, and the story is about the Zerg. Why am I fighting more Terran bases and commands than I do fighting Zerg? Also, why did you shoehorn in Protoss as an opposing faction? I could understand that earlier mission where it's a race for the artifact but I don't think that you could get away with massacring an entire protoss clan and still be called "Friend Raynor"

Hah! I liked that one. How about the last Protoss mission? What was your high score on that one? 1962 I think... woulda gotten higher but I didn't build the full 200/200 pylons in the back of my base Heh, I managed 1966 myself. I uh... stopped producing units at one point and was just overwhelmed. I would have done better if I'd kept my pylons up. DAMN YOU CLIFFHANGER!

It'll drop when the Toss or Zerg part comes out

The links look official because of the battle and Blizzard and warcraft in the urls. But the thing is that it'd never be battle.warcraft.com or anything, it'd be either battle.net or worldofwarcraft.com Still, seems more legit than before.

*grumbles something about a mission where he constantly moves his base to get away from a wall of fire*

Okay, you don't like it... But why? Because it's out of place. Jokes and such are all well and good but when you make snide political commentary on the current situation of the news media it just gets pretentious. Also, in game, Mengsk is supposed to have a great grasp of publicity and the power of the media, but the "Cover ups" are done so obviously I think that the population that watches have to be drugged not to see it. I don't find it pretentious, I find it to be satirical. That appears to be the whole point. If they hadn't made it so direct who they were playing at, I'd be more ok with it.

The only thing that I don't like thus far in the game is the commentary on current networks. The UNN is a very obvious parody of Fox News (including the line "fair and balanced), and they have SOME news story that is very obviously twisted to paint their bosses (Mengsk et al) as the good guys.

Wut is gearscore? People said i had 5700 of it when i had to quit due to losing net in march, but i never really understand wat it mean is... Gearscore is a number assigned to your equipment to give people a baseline idea of your gear. Every item you have has a specific item level, then it adds in enchants, and gems and puts it through an algorithm that spits out a number 5700 is pretty dang good, Mine right now is 5977. Most people are sitting around 5500. It's an annoying addon because people assume that you have gear you're good at the game. Abuse is pretty common (requiring a gear level above the instance that people want you to go into) -
Having played the tutorial I gotta say, they're doing MUCH better at weaving a story than they did in War3. Although it was a little jarring to see the defense mission appear and at the end my air-tight (for the time) defenses all of a suddon have a skillion units inside the perimeter because the cutscene needed it.

Bendis' Elektra & Alias series are very good. I also like his Avengers - he did the Civil War + Secret Invasion + Dark Reign plotlines that were pretty earth-shattering for the Marvel Universe. I personally disagree. Bindis is to much of a worshiper of his favorite characters for me to enjoy him. Also he wasn't at the head of Civil War, that was Millar from Ultimates. He DID do the House of M, where nothing happened for two issues. Bindis, if left to his own devices for long enough, is Christ Claremont again, where he drops hints left and right and about the future and will bring them into being... a LONG time later. His story telling is also so decompressed that it's not fun to me, EVERYTHING taking 4-6 issues to be done, even if it's a simple story, he'll pad it out with an argument, or a silly little aside featuring his characters, just to fit that 6 issue arc he aims for. Trade Paperbacks. They usually have some of the older stories slapped together to give you basic review of the older stuff (Marvels ESSENTIAL line and DC's Classic line both are just reprints of old stories). Or pick up one of the Event series. HOnestly what really got me in was finding a Green Lantern TPB which lead me to JLA which led me to Superman. The GL stuff is some of the best currently in Comics. With the Return of Hal Jordan, Sinestro Corps War, and Blackest Night trio all tying together beautifully, PLUS the work in from Infinite Crisis, and Final Crisis (Ok, so Final Crisis: Legion of Three Worlds) has Geoff Johns at his best. For awesome Classic material, get Kingdom Come, Watchmen, and Marvels. Marvels gives you a basic view of the Marvel Universe up to a point. Kingdom Come gives you a basic introduction to the characters in DC, and Watchmen is... well... Watchmen. Have people died and come back to life? yes, but it's usually not this huge thing for people It's rarely mentioned after a while. -

That was great. They should just make a movie with that as the starting point. I don't read comic books, so just how much kryptonite is there? Luthor seems to find it in abundance without any problem whatsoever. Well there's the entire remnants of a planet, and a super villain made out of the stuff. the GLC has been murdered before, and from the sound of it braniac has managed to siphon power off from the heroes to weaken them. -
I lost the only FOB thingy to the security system my new car came with and spent probably 2 hrs hunting for it. Ended up finding it's owners manual and it gave me enough information that I can find somebody to uninstall the bloody thing. I'd do it myself if I had ANY tech savvy but I don't so

I haven't seen any of the mods that I run do this, but it looks like it's gearscore or something...
