http://kotaku.com/#!5790245/everything...of-space-marine A primer on the new game (space marine) and Warhammer 40k.

Then let's increase the soviet number by all those people who were shipped off into a mass grave or tossed into a non-USSR prison? And the airmen that they supposedly still have from Vietnam?

Did some Left 4 Dead 2 with Der and a few pals. Managed to get an achievement COMPLETELY by accident when I was hit with Boomer Bile and fighting off an army of zombies with a fire axe. One of the guys charged me and ran smack dab into my axe. I didn't even realize what happened until about 3 minutes after hearing everyone laughing and crying about it

you put the tripod mount on the neck of your horse and fire it between it's ears.

Just an M1? I'd think a Texan would go for something more like
-
I think that having it turn based would have significantly lessened it's overall appeal. And Dawn of War 2 did much to bring it more in line with the fluff (a single squad of marines just munching through everything on the map, slowly but surely for example).

Dawn of War Retribution. They just added new Last Stand achievments that come with wargear.

See, I always saw Canada as a sort of "Wot? We have a government?" type given how little is hears about it (of course part of that is living in the US, but even here we heard about the British PM elections). It seems like harper (or who ever he is) might be making a grab for a more... long term power given just how much manipulation he's pulling off. Honestly, that level of "mad power grab" makes me kinda happy right now the two biggest abuses in the US are the Union issues in Wisconsin and the budget.

Why doesn't Obsidian do THIS with their press releases? http://kotaku.com/5789756/please-let-this-...-press-releases

Well you go back to the first three books and even then it feels quite dull... at least on the second reading. I know it sounds strange, but some books hold up really well the second time you read them because they don't take forever to get it rolling and then when they have it rolling they don't seem to stop it so that there could be a commentary on this or that relationship. The first three books in Martins series feel like they take forever to slog from plot point to plot point. Feast of Crows was just.... urgh. Also, funny little note, Erikson wrote the foreward to the re-published compilations of the Dread Empire novels, and commented that "You could see the standard fantasy protagonist, hair luffing in the air, codpiece bulging in his pants, standing by the side of the road looking for the princess to rescue, only to be passed by Cooks characters as the grumble and bitch, splashing the nameless hero in muck and crap". Ok, I'm paraphrasing like hell there and Erikson said it better, but it's still a good sentiment.
-
To me the books are great the first time, but then you look back on them and say "Wait... exactly how much book did he use to move the plot three inches?" And Erikson is awesome... not only for his own books but also for the books he likes (He's a fan of Glenn Cook and vis versa)

I... am working at McD's again *sigh* Hopefully I can pick up the Gamestop job at the end of the month

http://kotaku.com/#!5789323/indie-dev-...mestop-takeover Apparently indie devs decided that they hated gamestop so much, anything associated won't be allowed to be sold via gamestop.

I got me my dynasty warriors. And then couldn't help but laugh to find that in one of the pre-level areas that they have for flavor text and such has one of the peons practicing for this scene Even though it's a totally different game and chonologically previous to where he was, he was still practicing it because it was the level where Lu Bu actually got killed and Xiahou Dun got shot in the eye by an arrow, and hten promptly ate the eye rather than let it fall out and rot.
-
I should probably get back to that but I'm waiting on it because I want me my dynasty warriors!

Aesthetically pleasing female character designs.

Played Dawn of War 2 Retribution. Picked up an Ork campaign... this is AWESOME! The Warboss is using the same accent as the others (that ****ney one) but he's also got the pirate inflection to it and he's wearing a big ol pirate hat.

Actually it'd work but it'd probably be more one way communication than anything between two very specific points. Basically you'd entangle your particles and then cause them to "read" a message on one end and that message would appear at the other end at the exact same time. But you couldn't do it like Shepard where you could order the other guy to shut up.
-
Actually Quantum Entanglement is a part of physics in the real world. We haven't figured out exactly how to use it but in theory if you designed a system that translated information by the movement of a particular set of particles a Qantum Entanglement communication system would work.

I think that the idea that there are more extremists in Islam than Christianity isn't really true. It's just that there are a few islamic nations that are under the control of the fanatical extremists, while the Christian extremists haven't really found a place for their works. Also the Christian extremists take a longer view of things (instead of blowing stuff up, they try to brainwash people) and have a perfect mouthpiece with Fox News:
-
True, it is mainly extremism, but part of the issue with Religion is that it happily promotes extremists. Well the highest rungs certainly don't but the language of the various holy books often contain very solid rules about what may or may not occur, which easily leads to an extremist using it to justify themselves This isn't to say that they won't find other justifications but it would remove the easiest one. I mean, these are the guys who use the specific holy books to commit Intellectual Vandalism because they take things literally (see Kitzmiller V Dover)

Doesn't everyone have a moony swelling above their knee?

BTW, _I_ 'remember' Christian lynch mobs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4ZyuULy9zs That's what I'm sayin'. 60 odd years ago. Sabra and Chatila? Kosovo/ Bosnia? Jos? Northern Ireland? There've been plenty of times where christianity has been used as an excuse for murder as well. Does any of that violence come out of interpretation of scripture, does anyone call for killing people in the name of god. Northern Ireland I suppose is a clear religious and sectarian divide, but was that what we were trying to find. No, and no. None of those examples compare well with Islamic extremism. You have to go back a while to find any, and that was my point. Mainly because in the scriptures, God does the slaughtering himself. See Jericho, the great flood, the tale of Daniel being harassed and god having two huge bears come and kill his harassers... I wonder if a Motel would get firebombed if they put Qua'ran's in their rooms instead of bibles? I also wonder how much money a motel would save by not doing the bible thing.
