Hades - Who are they to talk about afterlife? They haven't come back from the dead, have they? If anyone's getting tortured in the afterlife, it's those child-molesting priests who say they follow Christ or the Crusaders who raped their way across the Byzantines (who happen to be Christians) into the Middle East.

Hades - Heaven and hell are only symbolic terms. I am no Christian, so I wonder are there people who actually believe you will be burning in hell? I mean you are dead. Your body is gone, so what is burning?

Okay. Btw, if the Supreme Court denies students the right to speak 'under God' or 'religiously' during the pledge in schools, you can still pledge in private. But I agree the issue of the separation of church and state should be decided by the court. The build-in check on the court would be to pass a constitutional amendment which the congress and the states' legislatures can vote on.

I don't understand why people complain when it's not enforced. Is it that they cannot stand the peer pressure? The situation must vary by school then since I have seen a pledge comes on TV while the teacher is reading newspaper and all the students keep on talking merrily among themselves.

While I was in high school, it's never required. Most teachers preferred if you at least stand up to show some respect.
