  1. I don't know that education would necessarily provoke convergence, tho. I mean we're all pretty well educated, but we hardly ever agree.
  2. You mean the chap I can see with the red bloomers is Cant?
  3. Or spinning wheels.
  4. Monsieur Sawyer has good suggestions. However, you may have more fun by making a target template and acetate overlay. The player puts the point of aim where they want it and then depending on skill the shot deviates in the X and Y dimensions. This makes it feel more real, and allows for more impromptu rationalising of damage. "OK you've just been hit in the... left nut by a 30mm cannon round."
  5. I have to say I've always plumbed the skill points into killin' skills. The kit eventually turns up anyway.
  6. Uni was where I got into it. I had no money to buy Microsoft office. I think Microsoft would lose a lot of its market if it could enforce anti-piracy the way it wants to. Because then we'd use alternatives.
  7. I call dibs on the underground bunker. Meta, you bring the nachos.
  8. You could dial by writing out the number ... *bounces* That would be awesome.
  9. I'm reading with interest, but I don't really know enough to comment.
  10. Well I agree there, taks, but I would also suggest that there are convergences in what people think of as optimal. A degree of predictability, the rule of common law, etc. Fostering these things will win more approval and 'optimality' than fostering other things. But I also think this is what democracy is about.
  11. I'm more annoyed by someone putting on airs of eco-sainthood and failing, than someone more honest who makes an equal effort. But I'll confess I have a thing right now against hypocritical hippies. In fact I'd suggest that's why they're called hippies.
  12. fwiiw I think it looks great.
  13. Can't believe you're siding with the hippies. It's precisely about the fact that no one's perfect. These people are pretending that they are when they are manifestly liars and hypocrites.
  14. My point, but far better made.
  15. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/devon/6380821.stm I've just read all the attached stories on this issue on the BBC website, and I can confidently pronounce these people contemptible fools. They lie to the locals about their planning permission and intentions then claim they didn't lie but 'kept things secret'. Then they claim to be whole earth but use gas bottles when their stoves won't light and chainsaws when chopping wood looks boring. I'd have little affection for them if they were doing it properly, but at least I might respect their commitment. I encourage you to read through the articles and enjoy.
  16. You are not allowed to buy NVGs. You have quite enough toys for the time being.
  17. I'm not saying you're daft. I'm saying that you're advocating the biggest most disruptive approach. We need a more slow 'elbow grease' approach. Education, culture change etc.
  18. I went into a 'Game' store here in the Uk a few years ago, and picked up one of those dubious looking five pound specials. I forget the name of the game but it was supposed to be about taking countries as they were in 1999 and running into the future. It said the stats were collected from reality. This sounded like a concept that if nothing else would leave me better informed about regional economies and geography, so I bought it. However, it was so unbelievably buggy, and disconnected from the real world I gave up after a few attempts. In fact it was so bad that I trekked back to the store. "I know I can't get a refund just because I don't like something but for the love of humanity please don't sell this game to anyone else." The manager was so pleased to be given some useful feedback he let me have a full refund, without presenting the disc, and an apology.
  19. Moved to less daft forum.

Millar has written for the Authority, and they're about as Neocon as you can get, or Neolib or something. Basically they say "We're superheroes. why are we busting muggers when genocide is going down?" So it would make sense for him to be at least in favour of some Bush tactics.
  21. I think it's a great idea. And distance learning notes are not the same as regular notes.
  22. Hey hey hey! I never said there weren't chicks in the car with me.
  23. Azarkon, I think the field borne peasant was correct to think about changing the system, but now the system has changed it us the people who need to improve. How can we even talk about improving the system when only half of us bother to use the system?
  24. man's got a point. Long periods in office almost always come with corruption and indifference.
