  1. That is a damn good point, if you don't mind my saying so. Worthy of Holmes himself. If the numbers were that high then where are the refugees? I might also observe that no one is disputing the 200,000 dead in the Darfur genocide. Where's their march?
  2. *Walsh lets his expression do the work*
  3. Yup, you got me there Wals. Okinawa was annexed by Japan in the late 1600's so it was Japanese soil. I was actually stationed there in 1991-1992. Pretty nice place, my favorite in Asia as a matter of fact. Anyway, to reiterate, I had no point to make there. I just thought it was funny. Man, I wish I could find some Okinawan style yaka-soba and Orion beer in the States! An honest mistake, sir! And you should drop in on NYC for good yaka-soba, if memory serves.
  4. Under control and contained? Then I suppose the thousands starving and denied medical care, not to mention the hundreds of thousands killed in genocidal acts are the UN's fault?
  5. using your reasoning we should invade ourselves for having *some* ties to al qaeda You can't deny the convenience of invading a country you are already in.
  6. Band: The Wailin Jennys Composer: Guiseppe Verdi . I think this says a lot about a man. Just like the man says in Leon. Movie: Star Wars IV TV Series: My Name is Earl Cartoon: The Simpsons Book: The Art of War Sun Tzu Comic Book: Preacher PC Video Game: Baldur's Gate! Console Video Game: No idea Games Console: Wii because it makes people break things ~~ FTR I've never read 4chan. Seems like the lair of the pedo bear judging by the pics I've seen repeated from it. I quit posting at one forum because they seemed far too fond of that sort of thing.
  7. Volo has a point here. The ceasefire had been broken on numerous occasions. Ask any pilot who was posted there during the 'peace'. The Italians also participated under the UN aegis. One more argument (not used) to support the legality of the invasion, since a break in the ceasefire terms merely reactivates the original conflict. GD, what about Okinawa? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Okinawa Somewhat remiss of you to forget one of the hardest fought battles in your history. Not to mention the battle that gives the lie to the notion that the Japanese would have surrendered without the H bomb.
  8. Took the day off and played Civ 4 Warlords. Made lemonade. Tidied house.
  9. You've got my vote, mate.
  10. I don't know how to multi-quote, so apologies. I think in most cases of ethnic or religious tension it's so crazy that trying to force it to make sense may be slightly wasted.
  11. Given the existing and ongoing drawn down of forces it strikes me that the attitude you express abandons the Iraqi people to civil war when we bug out courtesy of our apathetic and ill-informed electorate. I don't see how opposition to the UK fits into that. Unless you think that the grander the disaster the better?

I thank you. EDIT: the petrol can also be used to demonstrate objection to world aggression.
  13. To take Jesus' advocate for a moment, the man is Born Again, isn't he? That's all about taking Jesus in 100%.
  14. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/spl/hi/in_d...hdad_navigator/ Fascinating to look at and play around with. For me it scotches any suggestion these attacks are aimed at anything other than sectarian violence. Concentrations of attacks are occcuring far from government areas or military targets. It just reinforces my conviction that to pull out troops now would remove the last barrier to full out war, rather than calling an end to the violence. Thoughts? You really should have a look at the map in any case. It's a neat piece of flash.
  15. It's an old military gaming system. Devised for gaming hits on tanks. Or so I've been told. I don't know which country did it though.
  16. WFRP was how I started. A great game. See if you can find Shadows Over Bogenhafen
  17. It's true. That's why he leaves dirty socks all over the place.

    Lost at Sea

I should have been more clear by stressing the fac tthat no-one would come looking for us for weeks. If you expect an immediate search then staying put is certainly wise. Unless you crash at teh bottom of a ravine or something. Problem solving with limited resources is rarely a question of repeating some paper formula.
  19. *strikes commmissar pose and ratchets bolt pistol* We'd just better make sure it doesn't happen then, hadn't we?

The petrol can be used to signal an aircraft provided you have the strength to hoy it over the side and light it. I guess. I don't trust these any more since I participated in one where we had crashed in Northern Canada, fifteen people, five weeks before we were supposed to be coming back from our research station. The official solution was to spend five weeks in a snowdrift living on a gallon of maple syrup and whatever we could kill using a .44 magnum revolver containing six rounds. My objections to this orthodox solution of staying put were: 1) Bears 2) Hunger 3) Restlessness It being my observation that after the first week we would have certainly run out of food, have attracted a bear, and people would try to trek to safety (about 30km away). My alternative was to admit this was going to happen and to strike out on the 30 klicks while our strength was still good. I also observed that we had sufficient tools and raw materials to make a portage raft or two that would cut the distance considerably by allowing us to cross lakes. I got slated by the immediate exercise supervisor but passed the selection.
  21. I doubt it would make much difference, even if the evidence were more convincing. And besides which there are people out there whose faith in the Book (as opposed to God) was unshaken by several hundred years of dug up dinosaur fossils.
  22. Link doesn't work for me.
  23. Can someone explain to me what an epic level is?
  24. Better hope he packs silver bullets, then. But don't be surprised if later this year you hear news reports about a crazy Asian bisexual wearing a mask and night-vision goggles trying to assassinate the President. Which would be cool because we could turn the forum into an Eddo museum or something. We could sell tea-towels of the least successful presidential assassin. He'd fall out of the rafters at some charity dinner and drown in the fruit punch.
