  1. crakkie, you are completely rigth. IMO this is the future of all games - dynamically generated random content. This is completely new universe compared with today's technology. We need much more time when it will be available. But even in today's games it is possible to add such - e.g. in KOTOR like games we may think about random placement of boxes/chests and their content, random placement of your opponents before fight, something like this. I also woulk like to ask software developers (hey, FrankK, where are you ) if they could provide links to some articles on this subject. I've found only on procedural texturing. Nik.
  2. hungry, May be you have missunderstood me. What I mean is that education is the least important factor - someone from MIT may be much worse programmer than a person who is self educated! (MIT, sorry for the example ) What you say is in fact continuation of my thought: of course nothing will happen without ambition/will. I assume these are present by default
  3. As all we know due to LucasArts requirements NO modding/editing tools will be available to the public, so this discussion is pointless.
  4. This lagging is due to bugs in path finding algorithm implemented in the engine. We shall see if Obsidian will change it - may be not, because it is not easy to program this, and that is why they only remove the annoying message at area transitions.

  6. Maria, if you want male/male romance, we, males, would like to see female/female romance The idea is interesting, but I doubt if Obsidian will make such relationships due to "political" reasons.
  7. Yes, in KOTOR there are 4-5 male faces and they are used all aver the game. Also look at the aliens, especially rodians - one and the same faces and dressing, only different colors. This is annoying and can be solved by only hiring additional artists and designers, which means additional costs. If Obsidian has budgeted this cost, we will see when the game is released Nik.
  8. Yes, the game was easy - there were only 3-4 more difficult fights. But don't forget that making hard-fight game is tricky - it is NOT making mechanically high vitality/damage opponents, because in this way the game will be infinite boring reload exercise. The trick is to make the fight difficult from tactical point of view. But this requires both clever AI and good design - I doubt if Obsidian will make it. Nik.
  9. As I notice nobody votes for Tools Programmer. This is as important as other positions and is an interesting mix of 3D programing and database-like structures. Writing level/object editors is not for everyone. Nik.

  14. I am a programmer, and what would like to say in general is that your eduation has almost nothing to do with your abilities as programmer. You are born as programmer or not born - and it is true for any profession. The education means nothing, there are milions of textbooks on any subject - the only important is your genes and brain abilities. What do you think? Nik.
  15. The next interesting question is: how do you play the games. Using the most easy settings and play ala arcade and finish the game in 2 hours, or using difficulty settings, playing more "seriosly" many hours.
  16. In general, the three games are very nice idea, but the actual implementation in KOTOR1 has some drawbacks. I am happy pazaak will be fixed.
  17. I think an important question was asked, and, not sure, but developers didn't answered: Will you rewrite this stupid and idiotic AI of NPCs? thanks one more: will there be an opportunity to define default "attack mode" for NPCs?
