  1. A supposed Atari employee has been saying forever that BG:3 has been in production. I still don't see any annoucement, and I can't think of who could be developing it.
  2. Hades, combat in Diablo is stat based. There is dice rolling in the background. Combat is real-time, but you never said that an RPG can't be real time. Last time I checked, if you stand around and do nothing, enemies will just kill you in KOTOR. You have to queue up actions, or forfeit those rounds. The difference between KOTOR and Diablo is the ability to pause in combat.
  3. You like happy music, I take it?
  4. From a sales perspective, Coke always won the cola war.
  5. Did I mention that your clothing/gang colors/hair style/tattoo choices affect your stats in gang reputation and sex appeal?
  6. Hades doesn't know what he's missing. Nethack allows for more character freedom, and more variety than most RPGs I've ever played. BTW, Welcome to the forums Kelverin. Did you bring donuts?
  7. First off, welcome to the forums. Now, I'm going to try and not come across as a prick here. But your suggestion is in the wrong area. We have KOTOR forums, NWN forums, and general forums. KOTOR-specific suggestions should be in the KOTOR areas if you want to see more of a response. Personally, I'm not entirely clear on what you mean by a Grandmaster tree. My opinion is that I'm happy capping off around level 20. My only complaint with KOTOR:1 was how fast I hit level 20, and then couldn't progress. KOTOR:2 has a virtual cap in that there is a finite ammount of xp in the game, so you cap at something like a max of 28. Playing super-powerful Grandmasters doesn't sound too appealing to me. The journey of getting power is far more rewarding than starting with it simply to use said power. As far as personality, I think T3 is far more useful in KOTOR:2 than he ever was in KOTOR:1. He also has far more personality. I haven't gotten the floating droid yet, but I love the HK droids in KOTOR:2. I think they did well with the droids. And there is an option to display the dice rolls in KOTOR and KOTOR:2.
  8. Play some nethack. Go old-school.
  9. This is missing from GTA to an extent. You don't create your character right at the outset. But you do determine what clothes to wear, what hair style and tattoos to wear. You determine equipment, and style of play. And there are tons of styles of play in GTA. You gain maximum health, strength, stamina, etc. in game. You gain skills in weapons, cars, planes, boats and bikes. You gain sex appeal, reputation, etc. In GTA:SA, you can auto-lock onto a target. Twitchy combat is lessened. Your ability to shoot someone is as simple as making a check against your pistol skill. See above. You choose which gangs to alienate. You choose which optional missions to do, and for whom. GTA:SA is the first game in the GTA series where you get to choose positive/negative responses to NPC dialogue in the game. There is a plot, and serious voice actors behind it.
  10. I'd say both Diablo and GTA:SA make 4 out of those 5. Sad, but true.
  11. What's your checklist for what defines an RPG?
  12. What was the last challenging RPG you played?
  13. Or like becoming the Silent King in PS:T.
  14. And I recall all the posts of people begging that the release date be moved up. I kept saying I'd rather have a good, finished game. But December sounded so much better than February to most people.
  15. I think we need a thread to determine whether or not Volourn is a female Mandalorian.
  16. Nihilism makes me smile.
  17. Nuka-Cola is the nukiest!
  18. The Spideweb Software games are old-school RPGs, with basic isometric tile-based engines. But the stories are good, and the games are cheap. They're put out by a guy named Jeff Vogel, and he's a good guy. You may recall that he was once the Presidential Candidate of the Scorched Earth Party.
  19. I was being sarcastic with Halo 2. I think it's horridly overrated, and don't understand how it sells to well. If you're looking for an RPG on the PC, you can try Pirates, Bloodlines, The Fall, one of the Spiderweb Software RPGs, etc. You can also reinstall Morrowind and try out a total conversion, or an epic quest. Sea of Destiny is quite good.
  20. That's the funniest thing you've said in a while. Wow.
  21. Like a rimjob with a shot glass?
  22. The reason that we need 3D RPG engines is so that we can fling poo in first person mode. That's roleplaying.
  23. I'm buying Llyranor a copy of Barbie Fashion Rancher as a late RamaHanaKwanaSolistiMas present.
  24. There are plenty of shades of brown. Actually, the screenshots look pretty vibrant in their colors. Lots of green forests, and a very red Oblivion.
