  1. You have routinely stated that you are comfortable creating house rules for 2E and accepting the flaws in that system, but you wouldn't be comfortable with 1 or 2 house rules in 3E. You stated that you shouldn't have to create a house rule to fix a problem. I think the reality of the situation is that you have already invested time fixing one broken system to the point where you are comfortable with it, and you don't want to attempt to spend the same effort elsewhere. That doesn't make 2E a better system. I have found 1 system I can run without house rules and be completely comfortable with out of the box, and that's the D6 system.
  2. Sure you can have fun with bad rulesets, but certain rules are better or worse than others. I don't accept mediocrity as a standard with a glib disposition.
  3. The four noble truths clearly state that desire is the source of suffering, and that the 8-fold path is the means to discard suffering.
  4. I wish the news were true, but I don't buy it. Your inside source should know better if they really know anything at all. EA doesn't come up with ideas and then hand them to specialty developers who care about projects. EA buys out developers with existing ideas, and is seen as the worst publishing house in the industry. They are currently being sued for not paying their employees.
  5. Sure, an inferior system can be ran well. That doesn't make it a superior system.
  6. You could search through a peer-to-peer file sharing network.
  7. I have sources as well, and they say that we can safely assume a sequel might be announced in the future even though we don't have any developers lined up...
  8. Except we don't have levels in life. If I am a level 20 character, and you are a level 1 character, overall I am 20 times the character you are? That's just ridiculous and silly. With point-based systems, I think it actually works more towards party roles than a class based system. With a level based system everyone seems to get hit points, saves, and base attack bonuses with every level. But in a point-based system, you only get better in what you dedicate yourself to improving, and thusly the roles in the party get more specialized.
  9. Chess < Go < Strip Chess < Strip Go < Full Contact Strip Go, Australian Rules
  10. It seems most reviews are made by people only a few hours into a game. Anyone remember how every review on the planet said Doom 3 was the greatest game ever, and then plenty of reviewers wanted to recant said reviews once they had played more than 5 hours?
  11. Definition: Mistress - n. Something between a Mister and a Matress.
  12. I played and beat Jade Empire. It was fun for a couple hours, but it was very short. There are basically two towns in the game.
  13. No, I am not on crack. It has been scientifically shown that martial artists with far less muscle mass can better harness and channel their strength though efficient movements. Maybe Chi is a factor, or not. You see those guys breaking 15 bricks with their fist? Most heavyweights couldn't do that, and the bulk of Jeet Kun Do is about harnessing such power. It is said Bruce Lee could put his fist perfectly at rest one inch from a target, and in that one inch achieve more power than most people's best punches.
  14. It's my standard rule for lengthy threads. I read the first two pages, and the last page. Edit: This thread needs some love.
  15. How about openly telling women you don't want much of a relationship right now, or cruise the college-girl/party ranks.
  16. I am flat-out in awe. Have sex with me.....RIGHT NOW!
  17. Last time I checked, Tyson was getting knocked around like a child in his last 5 or 6 fights. The only fights he won were in the opening two rounds if he suprised people with both speed and power. Most boxing experts say he had little skill. Tyson's only advantage in this fight is his ability to withstand a punch. Lee is faster, and possiby stronger, with more skill to boot. I don't know how well Lee could take a punch, but I'm largely unconvinced Tyson would land one.
  18. The thread (I read 3 pages of it) consisted solely of "LOL, Fable sucks."
  19. Jade Empire, with all 10 hours of it's playability, poor dialogue, and cliche plot was surely the best game of the year.
  20. Read: Having very small launch lineups, not releasing many games, putting out inferior hardware for similiar price points, etc. I loved how at E3 the new Gameboy turned out to be the exact same Gameboy we've had since the GBA. Let me get this straight. Sega released a full portable Genesis something like 14 years ago, and yet Nintendo can't beat that technology 14 years later? Nintendo is only focused on profit, not pushing envelopes. GB titles require far less to develop, and have a higher profit margin. Why actually support their consoles? There are throngs of Nintendo fans who will buy a console for 3 must-have titles per generation. Personally, I don't think the PSP and DS compete with each other. Last time I checked the PSP is routinely sold out at most places, and most independent reviewers think the PSP is 5 times the device that the DS is. The DS launch lineup also blew in comparison to the PSP launch lineup. The DS is just now starting to get promising games. The DS is a $150 gaming handheld that does nothing else. The PSP is a $200 portable movie player, MP3 player and gaming handheld. It is a better gaming system to boot, that throws in the functionality of being a portable movie player and MP3 player for $50 and has the most beautiful portable screen I've ever seen. Can you give me one good reason to look forward to the Revolution? Will it be horribly underpowered in the next generation? Yes. Are there any launch titles we know about other than Super Smash Brothers? No. Have they announced a single unique feature? No. They will have a free online service, just like Microsoft and Sony will have a free online service. Nintendo also clarified that you will pay to download and play old games. So their biggest feature is old games that I get to pay a second time for? Did you notice how Nintendo sells classic NES games for $30 on the GBA? Or how they relrelease all the SNES titles on the GBA? Or how they are rereleasing N64 titles on the DS? And how they are going to keep milking the same titles over and over again, and fans think this is great! I'll stick to emulators and stop giving money to a company that isn't giving me anything new to actually play. I bought the N64 specifically for Mario 64, and then watched the N64 fester largely unsupported for 5 years. I bought the GC hoping for a sequel that was promised to me for Mario 64, only to hear now that it might someday come out on another console. No thanks, I'll pass.
  21. If something else is writing to the hard drive while you are installing, then possibly. A spyware and virus check couldn't hurt. LucasArts however put out lots of bad discs unfortunately.
  22. Totally. Look at the Boston Red Sox for 86 years. Really, I think just as much as positive visualization helps achieve better results, the self-fufilling prophecy can allow you to jinx yourself.
  23. Either I have a very active imagination, or they share my padded cell.
