I keep suggesting that the best thing for all parties is for Nintendo to stop putting out home consoles. They are a first-party development house with great franchises. They come out with innovative peripherals. They could have invented this controller, and released it for the 360 or PS3. Then we'd have great control, and great graphics as well. Sega releases games on other platforms, and if they had went that way earlier as opposed to losing boatloads on the Sega CD, 32X, Saturn and Dreamcube, they'd probably be a bigger company today. The Gamecube has horrid market share. Horrid. I'm not saying Nintendo is a bad company, or that their games aren't good. But do we really need a third console?

Ultima VII's combat might well have not existed for all I care. It was a complete non-factor. You entered combat mode, and it basically played itself out. However, the game was still incredible. Often I wonder if someone might take the Exult code (open source and all) and built a game upon it with improved combat.

Can someone please give me one reason to buy a Revolution aside from the gimmick which may or may not be supported by 3rd parties, let alone work? And for the record, Nintendo has gone out on a limb and failed many a time, such as the Virtual Boy, U-Force, Power Glove, Robo, SuperScope Six, the SNES mouse, Donkey Konga drums, etc. etc. I credit them for being ballsy, but not everything they release is gold.

Maybe I'm behind all the accounts again! Except I'm not. The mods already warned me.

How is EA really on topic for a conversation about Bioware and Jade Empire? Volourn's logic astounds me, as per usual.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/April_13th I was born on a Friday the 13th, and was named Thomas Jefferson Brumfield III, after my grandfather, but I was also born on the more famous Thomas Jefferson's birthday by pure coincidence. Also notable birthdays (that jump out to me): 1519 - Catherine de Medici, queen of Henry II of France (d. 1589) 1570 - Guy Fawkes, English conspirator (d. 1606) 1648 - Jeanne Marie Bouvier de la Motte Guyon, French mystic (d. 1717) 1729 - Thomas Percy, Bishop of Dromore and magazine editor (d. 1811) 1743 - Thomas Jefferson, 3rd President of the United States (d. 1826) 1866 - Butch Cassidy, American outlaw (d. 1908) 1906 - Samuel Beckett, Irish writer, Nobel Prize laureate (d. 1989) 1923 - Don Adams, American actor and comedian 1924 - Jack Chick, American evangelist 1946 - Al Green, American singer and pastor 1950 - Ron Perlman, American actor 1951 - Peabo Bryson, American singer 1951 - Max Weinberg, American drummer 1962 - Hillel Slovak, Israeli-born guitarist (Red Hot Chili Peppers) (d. 1988) 1963 - Garry Kasparov, Russian chess player 1970 - Rick Schroder, American actor Really, that was the short list. Click the link. My birthday is a regular murder's row. More on topic, Zoe is a super baby. She can hold her own head up and turn it around for a few seconds, which is extremely rare for a newborn only 5 days old. She can also roll on her side all by herself. She is extremely well behaved, and doesn't seem to cry an awful lot given the average is 1-4 hours of pure crying for a newborn. Seriously, she cries a couple minutes per day, and then we feed her, take her out of the microwave, etc. Today was Gameday, which is a bit of a religious sacrament here in Nebraska (land of college football) so she wore a Huskers hat, while mommy and daddy wore hats and jerseys. It was cute. I need to post more pictures.

There are a variety of supernatural shows this year trying to ride the coattails of the success Lost had. But Lost wasn't successful simply because of a supernatural element. It was successful because of good casting, good mysteries and good characters. I'll pass on the others.

I write quite a bit, and I have a variety of hobbies. I also have a few sports obsessions. I'm also quite a movie buff.

Dev thoughts on the Nin Revolution Controller
EnderAndrew replied to kumquatq3's topic in Developers' Corner
I have a flight-stick I bought AGES ago that already features sensors so that I can move it in air to "point" which direction I want to go. It uses ball bearings in the stick, rather than two sensors I have to put on my TV. Nintendo has already back-pedaled on their "free downloading of old games" to now say the Revolution will allow you to download games, but the service may cost you, and the games will most definately cost you, and not all the games will be available. No hi-def support, won't play DVDs without a seperate kit, weak hardware, and only a gimmick as a selling point? I'm really hard pressed to see any good reason to even discuss the Revolution. -
But the way, I have a flight stick that already does this, that I bought in like '95? I bought it for X-Wing vs Tie. If I move the flight stick around in the air, in senses the movement with internal ball bearings and moves my ship around. It also had throttle control, a POV hat, and 13 buttons. It's pretty nice. I got it at a computer show and have never seen it in a retail store.

Just for Jags.

Zoe's conception went a little like this: Edit: I just now that I am developing an ulcer for Eldar every time he reads the words "Zoe's conception went a little like this".

Especially given the Diablo 3 rumors, where they closed their Blizzard North studios down, fired off most of the staff, and brough production of Diablo 3 to their main studios because it wasn't up to snuff. They also canceled the Warcraft Adventure game because they refuse to release a sub-par project. So what is the story with Ghost? By most accounts I keep hearing it is sub-par and rapes the franchise.

Nope, just like this:

Consider me a bit unbiased. I really don't care for TV and it is very rare that I fall in love with a show. It isn't fair to compare Lost to various pantheon shows considering it has only had one season, but honestly I think we are experiencing the Twin Peaks/X-Files phenomenon all over again, but where as Twin Peaks blew its load after one season, and X-Files delayed its story over many years with monster of the week episodes, Lost has a mystery just as good, if not better. But there isn't just one mystery. And the more we learn about the series, the more questions we have. Even better yet, in addition to the island storylines, which are good enough on their own to sell this show, the creators put together a huge emsembe cast that is perhaps the strongest and most interesting group of characters on the whole that I have ever seen in a television show, period. I don't want to spoil anything. Download the 2 hour pilot off bitTorrent and be a bad boy. Then understand the show only gets exponentially better every single episode after that. I have little doubt you'll be throwing down cash for the DVD set after that. If I compared it to anything I've ever seen, I think the best comparison I can draw is to Neon Genesis Evangelion with its strong cast of characters, mysteries and layers of depth. Yet Lost has better characters than Evangelion, and I'm beginning to think the overall story arch is just as deep, subtle and wonderful. Yet the best thing I can say to sell this show is that it is perhaps one of the few shows I've ever seen that treats its viewers with respect. It is an intelligent show with hidden secrets, subtext and genuine depth. I've never felt the show catering to the lowest common denominator, perhaps save for the casting of a supposedly hot twig Paris Hilton-esque character to appeal to a younger demographic. Yet while I don't care for the actress or character, she is but one of 16 main characters in the first season, so she barely dilutes the greatness of the show.

Kirottu for the win. If the file is just locked for a random reason, that will fix it. If it is spyware or a virus, then reboot to safe mode, or even better thrown in a Windows XP install disc and boot to recovery mode. The Windows kernel will be running off your CD and won't load any of the Windows files off your HDD really, so the virus won't be in play. You should have no problems deleting anything you want.

I'm not a Starcraft fan overall. It's just not my forte. However fans of the genre still play it today for a good reason. Blizzard is still releasing patches for it, and it remains one of the best balanced games of its kind.

I'll try it in a kiosk, but I really don't intend to pick up the Revolution.
-
That game has stupid cover-art. I'd never play it. j/k

I've got bad news. I won't be able to make the game tomorow. I expect to continue playing despite the baby. Mom and I are sharing duties with her. However, I have been called into work tomorrow for a meeting, and late tomorrow night my father-in-law is coming in town to see the baby. People can still meet and soft-roleplay all day long if they want, and I encourage it. I know that the last session ended in a time-sensitive moment as combat was starting, but we can assume the soft-roleplay takes place earlier in that night then. I'm sorry this is last minute, but I just got the email from work.

Thank you everyone! She was born at 8:55 am, was 20 inches long, and weighed 6 lbs and 14 oz. She is also incredibly well behaved. She hasn't cried really all day long. She can also roll herself onto her side and she is only 2 days old.

Clearly I'm evil. Except, if I were evil I'd root for the Yankees. Damn conflicting corollaries.

I read in a TV Guide article who she runs into.
