TSL Restoration Project: Work in Progress
w666tvr replied to Aurora's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I don't think so; I'm pretty sure that one or two got longer. However, I think a new module just got added to the list, but it is difficult to be sure without an earlier copy of the page... * EDIT * Google's cached version is the post-last edit broken version, so that doesn't help... -
The elusive Jay (LucasArts moderator) has just re-appeared to post this on the LA forums:

Better than me behind a 56kbps modem "

From the readme. If this is to be believed, then not so much leaked as sneaked out via the back door. Also note: Note the date: QA (presumably) complete end june; sneaked out now. Downloading music now... (w00t) * doing my happy dance * (w00t)

Come on guys, get a grip. The solution is in BattleWookies' sticky at the top of this forum! Who cares that the solution doesn't come from either LucasArts or Obsidian, when it works?

Have a look at BattleWookie's sticky in the Technical Support forum, here.

Confirmed Performance Tweak - Download Now!
w666tvr replied to Master Dahvernas's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Yes, they broke some time ago... I posted a version I had downloaded earlier in this thread. -
Go to the Militia second in command, Berrun (sp), and get him to tell you his suspicions about the commander, Zherron. Go to Zherron and tell him the Berrun has asked you to investigate him. Persuade Zherron that you think Berrun is wrong. Zherron will give you a message to take to Dopak. Deliver it (he is at the mercenary camp, east of the salvager camp). When the appropriate moment arrives in the Battle for Khoonda, Dopak and some of the mercenaries will switch sides. Of course, you have to do this before the battle sequence starts, and before you go to adminstrator Adare with any evidence you have collected against Zherron (if that is what you decide to do).

KOTOR I's Jedi Robes & KOTOR II's Jedi Robes
w666tvr replied to a topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I always understood that robes in K1 look the way they do because of the limitations of the engine; it was never intended to give the impression that the Jedi robes "evolved" between KotOR and the OT. With K2 the engine was given a lick of paint: weather effects, movie-style robes and a few new ATi problems... -
The Hurrikaine crystal was meant to be a fixed (i.e. non random) drop in the prison area of Malachor V. As this area was cut from the finished game (and the crystal was never meant to appear in a random drop) then so was the crystal. It is possible to get this crystal, but only by cheating (look here for info). Alternatively, you could wait for the restoration project to finish, as this is one of the areas being restored (info here).

High difficulty level bug on Peragus
w666tvr replied to Claw's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Playing the game on the higher difficulty level increases the skill requirement to plant a mine with the effect you have noticed. You can get around it by using the console overlooking the hanger bay to blow up the damaged droid. It will open the door, but will also destroy the contents of the nearby cylinder. Alternatively, you could try an exploit (haven't tried this but it should work): after you have collected the mines from the outside of the Hawk during the prologue, return to the c0ckpit and quit the prologue. Normally you lose any equipment when the game proper begins, but not if you quit it in this way. So, it should now be possible to use one of these mines to blow open the door. -
Bonuses do stack (although you have to have made mastery before switching to a prestige class for this to work), but the character screen only shows that last bonus in effect. However, if you follow a progression to the logical prestige class (Consular to Lord/Master, Sentinel to Assassin/Watchman or Guardian to Weaponmaster/Maurauder) then others have reported that the bonuses do not double up. Thread here. If this is true, then it would be advantagous to switch classes when you make prestige class.

Average FPS possible with this system?
w666tvr replied to fireage's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
My system is only broadly comparible (AMD XP 2600, Nvidia FX5900XT, 1GB PC2700), but I would anticipate somewhere in the vicinity of 30-35 FPS with reasonable settings, dipping to low 20s in the busier areas (Dantooine Khoonda plains) or places with lots of smoke (Peragus Fuel Storage, Malachor). Smoke would certainly be a problem with your friends' system, as it involves the CPU heavily. Have you seen this thread? That mod is good for an additional 10 FPS. Hmmm... I think the links in that post are dead now. OK, I'll add it as an attachment to this post. texpacks.zip -
The lab station only appears in the Hawk during the Red Eclipse attack. If you have the PC version you can put the lab station back with envida's mod from pcgamemods.

The problem is that Atton was near to death when he defeated the Twin Suns. In the mean time, you have taken Mira into the Jek Jek Tar, followed with the exile, fought and defeated Hanharr (or maybe the other way around), cleaned out the base and seen Mira escape and the Exile captured. Now when the next cutscene plays, Atton collapses and dies and it's game stopping. The only way out is to reload and replay the battle with the Twin Suns (if you had the PC version you could use the KotOR II Savegame Editor, KSE, to fix Attons health instead).

Anyone seen this party selection bug before?
w666tvr replied to Cactus's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
That's a broken savegame. Kotor I had the same problem/message I believe. -
Which install CD are you having a problem with? If it is anything but the first CD, you might have a crack at the workaround sticked on the LucasArts forum, here.
-
Save the game before you speak to a vendor. Then, after you examined their inventory, if they have crystals but not the one you want, just reload and try again. Their inventory isn't fixed until you speek to them for the first time, which is after your savegame. In the earlier stages of the game you may have to make quite a few reloads, but it usually works. Note that Bronze and Cyan crystals are very rare (a lot of reloads).

OK. I've got to ask. Which one of you lot has kidnapped/killed (delete as inapplicable) the moderators?

Problem I get with Handmadien
w666tvr replied to The Elite_elite's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Sorry. Hmmm, looks like you're stuck with quitting and replaying in the hope that you can get past it. I've never seen anyone come up with a reproducible chain of events to cause the bug; even the guys who created the fix said they weren't sure what caused it. -
Problem I get with Handmadien
w666tvr replied to The Elite_elite's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Bug alert. Fix available from the TSL Restoration Project: downloads page here, just look for the heading "Handmaiden Training->Cutscene Fix" You will have to reload a save from before you triggered the cutscene, and play through again. -
So, the statement that something didn't happen, but that something else did, doesn't preclude the possibility of something that didn't happen, happening? What? I was just repeating the canon, here, and it says no. Who knows what it would have said if the storyline was fully explored? I didn't agree that at all. Kavar assumes she went to Malachor with Revan, but only says he thought she died on Malachor. He doesn't know where she went or with whom, and as such his assumption isn't evidence. However, by chance, she did go to Malachor by herself, so replies to the statement he voiced, not the assumption that he didn't. No inconsistency there at all. Nothing in the conversation quoted demonstrates that Kreia fought at Malachor. There is one interpretation that can be read as such, but you would need supporting evidence (not to mention a different canon) before you could hang an argument off of it. Two lines out of context are not an argument; no mind reading required. I don't need to know the intent to argue that there are different interpretations; you do need to know the intent to argue only one interpretation applies, in the absence of evidence. When I said "in order to believe Kreia's version of events", I wasn't referring to her reply to Kavar, but her conversation with the Exile about Revan, where she claims (in support of the canon) that after Revan came to see her before leaving the Jedi order she hadn't had any further contact with him. Isn't that just a gloriously unhelpful line? What does it mean? Remember Disciples' comments about his own master to be dying at Malachor? Are we to assume that that was Kae? But Kae was exiled before the war, so that makes Disciples' line contradictory whatever he meant. She simply wasn't a master anymore. He lists three masters, but three is not many. Two are significant because they were members of the Jedi Council which makes the exile of Kreia as being solely responsible for the corruption of Revan somewhat unreasonable. Kae is significant as Handmaidens mother. None of these require any other reason to be mentioned. The fact that no other woman is listed doesn't mean that there wasn't another. The use of the word many implies that there were others. Indeed, there is a line that wasn't used in the game where Disciple can't remember Revans first master (which we know was Kreia) but still remembers Kae. The assumption here is that Kreia is putting the whammy on him to cloud his memory, yet he still remembers Kreia as Kae which is how he would have known her at the academy? I read this as evidence that the first master isn't Kae, but I have seen it presented the other way, too. Vive la difference. Hmmm. My original post was my view that the Kreia is Kae storyline was a possible cut, but the state of the game as released offers too many contradictions to support the idea now. My second post was just to offer the canon view of Kreia's involvement with Malachor. I have no real interest in getting into a p*ssing contest over this. You think one thing, I think another. Like I said, vive la difference. Until a dev confirms it one way or another, we'll never know. All I do know now, is that the TSL Restoration Project has turned up no other cut material to support it.
-
The official version of events, is that Kreia followed in Revan's footsteps after her exile. She never caught up with him, arriving on the surface of Malachor long after the final battle had been fought. There she found the old academy and fell to the darkside. So yes, she has been there, but no she didn't fight there. Which is, of course, the basic requirement for her being Kae. Agreed. E_Motion's post is consistant with so many of the Kae is Kreia posts. Lines taken out of context, and laden with more meaning than they were ever intended to convey. Kae's history is in the game because she is Brianna's mother, and history needs to be given. There is no requirement for some deep, dark reason for this.

Especially as G0-T0 had put the 'fluence on him in the earlier cutscene in the Hawk's engine room. The remote was - as G0-T0 says - unable to move, much less beat him.

I nominate a waterpistol for really lightside players. Let the spamming begin.
