  1. Maybe. The Bink player can resize to a smaller screen size, but: if your processor isn't up to resizing 30 frames a second then you will probably get some unpleasant sound stutters.
  2. The only force powers I use are Force Barrier and Force Speed. Force Barrier is much better than a melee shield as it is only time limited, rather than limited in the amount of damage it can absorb. Force speed is always useful. Remember that for the last four fights you can use a blade, and for the last three fights you can wear armour and use stimulants. Add a keen (mulline (sp)) edge to the blade and bludgeoning protection to your armour (ballistic shielding, etc) and you should be fine. Dueling and toughness feats are also good (especially if you try it with the Beancounters' Hardcore mod). Oh, and stick to standard attacks and critical strikes as they have a better chance of doing damage.
  3. Well, you should probably update your ATI display driver. I'm intrigued as to why the scan hardware found no virtual memory. If this is really the case then that will cause you a lot of problems.
  4. That is an obscure bug. Obscure meaning that, if you were to quit, reload an earlier savegame and try again, chances are it wouldn't happen again. If you have the PC version, there is a fix available from the TSL Restoration Project (look for Handmaiden Training->Cutscene Fix). Of course, you would still need to load an earlier savegame...
  5. And, if there is an option for "worse", what happened to "better"? I don't think that the patches made the game a lot better, as it is still one major patch below par (an official fix for the Telos Academy imprisonment cutscene fix introduced by the 1.0B patch would be a minimum for a responsible publisher). I don't think the patches left the game the same, as there were some annoying issues patched which didn't make their way into the change log (synchronisation on the dialogue for the HK-50s in the Telos Military Base, amongst others). So, I can't vote
  6. By normal means you can't level up much beyond 30. If you use the Hssiss exploit to level up too much beyond that, then you run into a bug with the loot system, whereby you stop getting lightsabers. Just ask BattleWookie, he knows all about this one.
  7. You can't; Handmaiden and Bao Dur are too much the boy scouts to get influence from bad deeds - that only works with Atton and Visas. You could keep Kreia in your party to prevent the influence loss, but it's better to ditch the goody-two shoes when you are going to be bad as you will just annoy Kreia instead...
  8. The alternative questions is: why the hell would you want to spend $50.00 or (
  9. Seems like a similar problem to this one I remember from a while back. I would presume that the exile's VP has dropped too low, rather than Atton's (as the game should be switching back to the exile and Zez Kai Ell for a cutscene at the point you describe). The Kotor Savegame Editor, KSE, should still ride to your rescue, though...
  10. It's whether or you said Revan was good or bad that matters here. If Revan was DS then Carth would have run away after Revan returned from the temple and would have been stranded on the unknown world when the Ebon Hawk left. So, no Carth as a Republic admiral... If Revan was LS female then Bastilla might not have been saved on the Star Forge... So: (highlight to view) Your own alignment doesn't really matter with any of this. * EDIT * Perhaps a move to spoilers would be in order?
  11. I thought there was supposed to be a good, fixed drop, lightsaber crystal in the palace? I can't swear to it being the Ultima Pearl, though. In the most northwesterly room (the one with the logic puzzle to open the door), on the left hand side of the bed is a locked container. You can't bash it open, and it needs a fearsome security skill to unlock, but it should contain the crystal... * EDIT * According to GameSpot:
  12. My understanding is that the game engine was modified between K1 and K2, specifically to make those full length robes possible. This would mean that the new models can't be shoe-horned into K1. Certainly no-one has been able to back-port the robes so far. A quick peruse of pcgamemods' robes shows that the only real full length robes are based on the darth Bandon robe. Sorry to be negative.
  13. Isn't that generally strange enough? For those of us with monitors/graphics cards that don't do 1600x1200 try this to resize them to 1024x768: (Why would you do this? To reclaim more than half of the disk space, to smooth playback and to get rid of sound stutters, that's why) Download the RadGame Bink Tools (if you haven't already) then just drop the attached batch file (you will have to unzip it, I can't attach a naked batch file) into the TSL movies folder (usually "C:\Program Files\LucasArts\SWKotOR2\Movies") and run it (double click on it windows explorer). Each of the 1600x1200 and 1600x680 movies will be scaled down with the Bink compressor. It will take a looooong while (depending upon your system, most files take approx. 20 minutes to convert and a couple take up to 2 hours) and you will have to click on done at the end of each file. (There may be a better way of doing this, but as the Bink tools don't come with any documentation....) Each converted movie will be placed in a subfolder of the movies folder, called - with stunning originallty - "Movies@1024x768". Once done, just use windows explorer to move them up one level into the movies folder to replace the originals. Enjoy. Feel free to use, abuse and modify. THIS IS SUPPLIED AS IS WITH NO WARRANTY, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED... MAY INSULT YOUR GRANNY.... AND TREAD ON YOUR CAT'S TAIL... PLEASE IGNORE IF YOU DON'T HAVE A CAT... movies.zip
  14. The Kho*, Kre* and Scn* movies are 1600x1200 with the widescreen "letterbox" black bars included, whereas the others are at 1600x680 without the bars. The downloadable bink movie player doesn't resize the movie for playback, unlike the ingame bink movie player. So, if your monitor doesn't do 1600x1200 then the bigger movies crash the player and the others just cause a little corruption and general strangeness (if you look closely). You are right x 2; it is Visas' introduction. My bad.
  15. Originally there were 65 movies, now there are 66. One of the Khoonda movies (mercenaries coming over the mined bridge) wasn't used in the original game. Three are the opening "movies" before the game menu appears (which never count as unlocked), and there are the LS/DS Khoonda and Malachor "alternatives". ScnMov01 is the arrival of the Harbinger at Peragus and the introduction of Scion. It appears that only MalMov06 is new (and as there are no code/script changes I can't see any way in which it could now be used. It would mean joining with Nihilus, which appears to have been originally designed to be possible, from dialogue shipped but not reachable ingame). Also, MalMov12 and MalMov14 were not included in the patch; presumably because as they both weigh in at 100Mb+ each originally, they would have added nearly a gigabyte to the patch by themselves if they had have been replaced...
  16. Chris Avellone, Lead Writer (posts now deleted, presumably at LAs behest) and John Morgan, Assistant Producer (brief reference in the 1.0B patch thread).
  17. Actually, I think it is quite amusing. Picture the scene: a meeting with a few LA "suits" who don't understand what is involved in getting things done, but don't let that interfere with them interfering... "What can we give the whiners - sorry, fans - to get them off our backs - sorry, keep them happy - that won't cost much - sorry, is what they really want but haven't asked for?" [ Sometime later ] "HOW BIG DID YOU SAY IT IS? What do you mean, we never asked? WHAT DO YOU MEAN, YOU'VE ALREADY SAID IT EXISTS?" [ Sometime much, much, much later (about four months, give or take) ] "Ok, we've found a sucker - sorry, strategic partner - to host it for us. It will all be roses from now on won't it? WHAT DO YOU MEAN, THEY WANT BUG FIXES AS WELL?"
  18. The music is definitely worth downloading, even if you are on dialup. The effect is very noticeable even if you aren't musically inclined. As for the movies, hmmm... They are the original movies at a higher resolution: 1600x1200 (and that was all that was promised). Issues like the "fog" surrounding Visas in her chamber looking poor, or the lightsaber disappearing from Sions' hand as he reaches for Kreia were never going to be resolved. In the plus column, "blurriness" - like that in Visas' introduction or Kreia's fall - is largely gone (although the light sources can be a bit weird). However, if your monitor/graphics card is not capable of that resolution then the bink player will have to scale the images down in real time at a rate of 30 frames a second. Given the now larger size of each frame this can overwhelm the playback, so that - depending upon your system - the bink player cannot scale the images fast enough. When this happens, it is most notable as sound stutters and "jams" as you have seen. So, if your monitor/graphics card/system isn't up to snuff, think twice. I also experience stutters - my monitor supports a resolution up to 1280x768 - so I am using the free RAD Tools to resize the movies to that. So far it looks good (and cuts the size of the movies in half), but it is very time consuming (two hours for Kreia's fall) and not exactly user-friendly. I would understand entirely if you didn't think the effort worth it.
  19. Not to sure what the problem is here (turning off the movies would be the next step, but you've already tried that). Do you use the Nero CD/DVD burning software? If so, there is a post about it causing this sort of crash on the lucasarts forums, here, together with an unpleasant workaround.
  20. There is actually a cutscene that plays between Atris and the Handmaidens whereby one of the Handmaidens mentions that you left with your four companions and Atris is non-plussed. They have to explain to her that with Atton, Bao-Dur and T3 there was an old woman. Atris' line is something along the lines of "sometimes I feel it is all falling apart.." I'm not sure if you need the TSL/RP's Telos Fuel Quest fix to get this scene, as it seems to play when you return to Telos after resolving it.
  21. The 1.0B patch is necessary for the i915 chipset, but you have that. Hmmm... How much memory do you have? Have you tried updating your graphics driver to the latest version?
  22. Putting aside questions as to whether or not that would make economic sense, it requires Obsidian to have Intellectual Property rights or permission from LucasArts. They certainly don't have IP rights (no developer retains those these days) and they are unlikely to get permission from a publisher whose stated position (in that infamous press release) is that the game is complete and the cut material was cut because it wasn't good enough and not for any other reason (however believable that position may be).
