  1. Does turning down sidequests actually impact the world? Or does turning it down simply mean something never gets resolved? For a random example, say a quest giver approaches you about killing a monster and you respond with the "Sorry, don't have time for this" option. Does anything actually happen to the world, like the monster ends up wiping out a village or appearing later on as a more powerful monster? Or do you just miss out on a quest and XP opportunity, but with no actual ramifications for the world? Because I always accept quests, whether it be sidequests or Witcher contracts because the option is always either yes or no, and I figure saying no yields no benefit or effect.
  2. Weren't the first couple of expansions for Destiny rather mediocre? I haven't played them yet, but just going on reviews/word of mouth from friends, they sound underwhelming.
  3. I'm surprised Obsidian didn't get a shot at the sequel. The first one seemed to be a hit and was well received. Usually you'd think they'd only lose the chance at making a sequel if the original bombed.
  4. Suddenly I'm addicted to gwent. Poor Ciri's lost in the wilderness somewhere and Geralt's spending his time trekking to various taverns/inns to play gwent.
  5. No Shepard's story is done and done... it will take place well in the future, but there might be references to our commander. It is perfect chance for a new opening with new stories and protagonists. The bolded is what worries me. What exactly will those references be about? I absolutely hated the Synthesis ending, but what if Bio decides that's the "canon" ending to explain how events in this new game begin? Or to explain how we end up in this new galaxy? I'm just worried about them muddying up already cloudy water. And I'm still worried they'll bring back Shepard. They've stated the Shepard's story is done, but they could always be smart asses about it by making it Shepard's clone or Shepard's grand kids. Technically they wouldn't have lied.
  6. I'm not sure how I feel about that Mass Effect trailer. Apparently it takes place a long time after the events of the original trilogy, but that makes me worried that means they'll choose their canon ending that likely goes against everything I chose in my game. I'm also worried they'll just clone Shepard for the PC.
  7. Phantom Pain, I had to turn the fan up, it was giving me the vapors. That thing sticking out of Snake's head is distracting, though.
  8. Even if it is, who cares? At least they're not charging for it. It's only an issue (to me) when companies release "DLC" that should have been in the core game, and have the audacity to charge $10-$15 for it. ----- On my second play-thru, this time I'm just going to be a jerk Geralt. Take as much money as I want, and be a general all around jerk when it comes to choosing options that are self-serving. I also intend to not be nice to any of my "friends". I played my first hand of gwent. Funny, now that I know what I'm doing I wiped the floor with the guy. I could have sworn he beat me my first time through.
  9. This is the reason I might end up getting a XBox One. I've got a pretty extensive library of XBox 360 games, so depending on which are going to be backward compatible, I might just have to splurge this fall.
  10. Kind of hard to play as Djikstra after my game.
  11. Looks like I'm going to have to buy a XBox One to cover all my bases.
  12. https://twitter.com/witchergame/status/610492082164097024 That's an interesting outfit for Triss. That's awesome. I hope it's high level though. It would kind of suck if the wolf school gear is made irrelevant by mid-game.
  13. I want to play as Dandelion. They can go back to just using those sex trading cards, since every quest of his will just be about bedding various women, then escaping from the situation when their angry husbands come calling.
  14. I hate when games that have absolutely horrible platforming mechanics/pathfinding in general, include activities that involve stuff like climbing. Some of these shards are on high ledges, and you're supposed to get to them with the most awkward jumping/climbing mechanic in gaming.
  15. Finished Jaws of Hakkon. On its own it's a solid DLC, but it didn't really add anything to the Inquisition story, other than adding lore to the history of the Inquisition. I'd also read before I'd played it about it having a "big reveal". Maybe I'm just not as into the lore as some folks, but the reveal wasn't anything of the "OMG seriously?!" variety that some folks who played it made it sound. I'll say this though. If the other "sidequest" maps were as detailed as this one was, the open world would have been much more fun.
  16. Jaws of Hakkon is ... okay. It doesn't seem any different than the sidequests you get in the main game in places like the Emerald Groves or Imprise du Lion.
  17. I figured it was just an "Easter egg" reference to our world, but you could be right about it hinting at the upcoming Cyberpunk game.
  18. It would be interesting to see what kind of conflict would be the central theme of any Witcher game without Geralt as the leading man. The Wild Hunt stuff was personal for Geralt, and the game makes it clear that Witchers usually don't get involved in politics or kingdoms fighting, so the stuff in TW2 and TW3 wouldn't fit with other Witchers. TW1's story could work with any Witcher, though, for the most part. Tracking down individuals who stole from their Witcher school's stronghold, etc.
  19. That's one of the reasons I don't want to play as Ciri going forward. By the end of the game, she's just too overpowered. Do those other Witcher schools still exist? Wasn't one of Letho's reasons for doing what he did in TW2 because Niilfgaard had promised to re-start his school, but likely went back on their word based on stuff in TW3?
  20. Other than Ciri, I can't see another possible Witcher character as the PC without moving the timeline way into the future or way in the past without risking contradicting lore from this series. All the talk in the game is how it's been a while since new Witchers were trained, and Kaer Moren (sp) isn't going to be training new ones anytime soon. So other than existing characters, who'd be a new protagonist without contradicting that?
  21. I'm one of the minority who seems to like the Geralt character. Or should I say, I don't mind him nor do I mind playing as him. I also don't think this particular game and story could be played with any random character. I think Geralt's past history with Ciri makes it a perfect fit for him being the protagonist. The majority of the sidequests, and even the stuff to do with the Niilfgaard/Redania conflict might have been okay with any other random character (though Geralt's the only Witcher that seems to go out of his way to get involved in politics despite saying he hates it), but the main quest, IMO, was a perfect fit for Geralt to be the leading man.
  22. How does the DLC work? Once you start it, can you go back to the main game or does it "lock you in" to the DLC once you begin? Because if you can always go back to main game stuff, why not try starting the DLC and if it's too hard, go back to main game areas to grind? You can travel back and forth from the map throughout. It does recommend at least level 20 before attempting, though. For reference, level 16-19 was recommended for the final boss fight. I finally made it over there. Decided to finish off a couple of the "optional" sidequests after finishing the final battle before making the trip. The enemies are definitely tougher than what you were up against in the "core" game. Luckily my party is level 21, so it's not been overwhelming or anything.
  23. Finished the main story in DA:I. I'm thinking of tackling the JoH DLC, but I'm not sure I'm high enough level yet. The final fight saw me earn enough XP to reach level 20, but I've seen/read that it's better to be in the level 22 or so range for the DLC.
  24. That was an awesome cutscene, though, when Lambert and Geralt (and that other guy that you only get if you made a specific decision) were fighting together. The teamwork and swordsmanship was fun to watch on display.
  25. Lambert's an angry little SOB, isn't he.
