To those who have finished the Mad Max main story, can you access the garage afterward? The garage page is blanked out and inaccessible to me after finishing the main quest, so I can no longer upgrade the engine (haven't maxed out the V8 yet) and can't build any new Archangels.

Finished the Trespasser DLC already. That was incredibly quick. Unless I missed a bunch of optional content, it took me about two play sessions to finish it. What a rip off for $15. The actual content was ... okay. I'm not that big into the elven lore though; I preferred the dragons and the black city and the darkspawn lore more. Just not a fan of where they took the series. Out of the three DLCs, it had the most cutscenes/story, but I actually think it was the worst of the bunch.

Yeah. It eventually showed up, but only after I re-downloaded the DLC, and re-loaded the save game multiple times. Played a bit of it today. It's ... okay ... so far. Maybe the luster has just worn off on me for Dragon Age as a whole, which might be affecting my ability to sink into the experience. Traveling through the eluvians is just kind of boring to me. Reminds me way too much of the fade sequences in DAO in the mage tower.

BioWare's just getting worse as a developer. I went ahead and got the Trespasser DLC, but I can't access it. It doesn't show up anywhere on the war table even though in the quest journal it says to go to the war table to access it. So now I'm stuck unable to play it.

Finished the Mad Max story. It's laughable how easy the final boss "fight" was compared to that stupid death race at the end of chapter 3. It's like the person doing the first one got fired because of how over the top difficult he made that part, then was replaced by someone who didn't want to make it even the slightest bit difficult. There was no happy medium between the two: near impossible and finishing with your eyes closed. As much bitching as I've done about it lately, overall it was a solid game. It was fun driving around the wasteland doing the various missions/tasks, hijacking various enemy vehicles, and melee combat with hordes of psychos. The main story was kind of ... odd. And chapter 4 ended up being a real downer. Solid game that I enjoyed playing once, but doubt I'll touch a second time.

Eh, it's just the delivery of his actions. In the movies, I always saw him as a reluctant hero. He'd be gruff and tell people off at first, but if he saw someone in real danger he'd usually end up jumping into the fray. In this game, he pretty much takes a "not my concern, now bugger off" attitude even in situations where he'd reluctantly help out in the movies.

I tried a whole bunch of different setups. No matter what variations of armor/tires/etc. that I used, the thing handled like a car on ice. In any case, it's not much of an issue for 95% of the game since you don't need to be a great driver (or a precise driver) for the majority of the main missions, just that one. It was just enough to piss me off to no end. One thing I have to say playing through the main story. Max really is a jerk. Like, if this were a RPG (which I understand it is not), I'd be screaming at how much the devs made my character a complete jack off and how I had no way to not be such an unlikable character.

Finally, after something like 12 tries, I was able to beat that one racing level in Mad Max. And I only beat it because I fluked out with one shot of the thunderpoon that caused a huge pile up and didn't allow the bad guy to move, allowing me two free shots at him before he finally got around the pile up. I can't see myself replaying this game because of that one mission. You don't notice how badly the car handles when you're randomly driving around the wasteland and it doesn't matter if you spin or wipe out. But when you're in a race and every time you hit a wall you go spinning out of control, or every time you turn left and try to correct it you end up spinning out of control, it becomes obvious how bad the handling is in this game.

The car driving in Mad Max is absolute crap. It handles like an old lady driving her car in winter, on icy roads, with no snow tires. I can NOT beat this one "boss" because I can't even keep my damn car on the road. Even without anyone near me, a single turn and I start sliding the opposite way into a wall. I hate it when games emphasize driving, and even have quests that require you to do the races, but provide the player with one of the worst handling systems I've ever played in any game that involves driving a car. I'm frustrated enough that I'm close to giving up on this game without finishing it.

Ran into a bit of a WTF moment in Mad Max's main story.

Finished off all the convoys in Mad Max. So much easier to complete with the thunderpoon. What I'm finding (so far) is the main story is just kind of basic and meh, so what pulls you in and gets addictive is all the side content that's available to you. The downside to that is I likely will never replay the game since I usually only replay games which had a main story I enjoyed enough to want to see a second (or third) time.

I just wish you could use the harpoon on all vehicles. The tougher ones, I could understand first having to use the harpoon to remove a layer or two of armor, but then it should expose a weak point for your next shot. Some of the cars I've come across, though, my harpoon doesn't seem to lock on to anything.

I'm holding off until the expansion comes out. I know I've got a couple more play throughs in me, but I don't want to waste that excitement until there's something new to actually play.

It's just Triss with a shorter haircut.

Eh, do enough of the story missions to get access to the.. Thunderpoon! Already have access to it. It makes my attacks during vehicle combat lethal (I can pretty much blow up any enemy car I fire it at), but it takes time to reload it, and if I'm swarmed by 3 or 4 enemies, all it takes is for the ones I didn't shoot to smash into me to do a lot of damage. I'm trying to find the right balance of armor for my car, while not ruining my handling and acceleration. Maybe since I'm pretty good at driving it, I should up the defense at the expense of some handling.
-
Melee combat in Mad Max is so much easier than car combat. Max can easily fight his way through camps with 30+ enemies in them, barely ever taking damage, but my car seems to be only able to take two or three collisions before it's about to blow up.

Geralt's fighting Jabba the Hutt?

I think one of the things that hurt all those "side content maps" was a lack of cutscenes. I know, I know, games don't need cutscenes, yadda yadda. But considering THIS game, and how BioWare describes their games as "cinematic experiences", I think going from a huge number of cutscenes during the main quest to zero cutscenes and just text dialogue for receiving/completing texts made the two (main story and side content) seem like different games.

I'd completely forgotten that DAI DLC is out today. Reading reviews of the Descent one kind of soured me on replaying DAI, but since you need to have finished the main story to play Trespasser, maybe I'll just find an old save and just do that.

Maybe people who have read the books will recognize that guy at the end of the trailer? At first, I just thought it was Djikstra.

Making my way through the various territories in Mad Max. I'm finishing off regions first before advancing the main plot. I'm finding some regions quite difficult, though, because my harpoon is useless against a lot of their armored vehicles. Thank goodness I have that boomstick thing to compensate.

Still trucking through the wasteland in Mad Max. The vehicles with armor plating really ramp up the difficulty when trying to do car-based smash-ups. I went from one zone where the cars would explode after 1 or 2 solid hits, to my car turning into an inferno after being hit by these cars that look like porcupines with wheels. My harpoon used to be my saviour, as I'd just aim for the wheels. But with the armor, I've first got to get an angle on them where I can peel the armor off, then I can aim for the wheels or the driver. But that's while avoiding taking any damage at all from them.

It's got the same kind of open world appeal that games like Batman, Far Cry, etc. have. Plus, it's set in a post-apoc wasteland, which will inevitably spark nostalgia for the Fallout games.

I'm early on, but I've found I rarely use up any fuel at all even when I'm traversing huge sections of the map. I've only had to "top off" my gas tank, and that's only because I happened upon a tank of gas and figured why not. Not because I actually needed to at the risk of running out.

Technically, if you're driving the right faction, you're "disguised" from that faction and they won't randomly attack you. But yes, it's still no reason to drive them. Also, it opens up some extra options with the Death Races. On which note, some of the Death Races are quite...irritating to get right. They slap you in a car you aren't used to that always has worst handling characteristics then the Magnum Opus, and it seems all the moves you're used to doing as you drive around.. now send you spinning out, fishtailing, or some such which wastes huge chunks of time on your run. The story side of the game seems to push you on from region to region without really giving you any reason to stay in a reason to clear it up. I think they rely on gamer's OCD to wrap up all the assorted challenges and clear up the territories rather than story. The other thing that I've noticed, is that by (what I'm guessing the half way point), going to the scrap locations seems very...drawn out. You keep stumbling on this places that have 2 pieces of scrap to find, each one containing 2-6 items of scrap metal... SInce by that point all the upgrades tend to require 300-900 items of scrap metal, and the collection of Ally Camps will be sending you 300-500 items of scrap metal every x amount of game turn, it does seem more of a time waste to find the scrap locations in game. Note - this might sound like a lot of griping, but I'm still having fun driving around getting into bouts of fisticuffs with bizarre bdsm themed post-apocalypse bandits and jumping sand dunes in my custom car. Haven't attempted the Death Races yet. I'm usually not a fan of racing mini-games, so I don't know how I'd do.
