  1. That mission with Quiet ... man, the story behind it was pretty solid, but the actual gameplay made me want to punch things. Wave after wave after wave after wave of tanks/armored vehicles. Kind of disappointed they didn't design the combat to reflect Quiet's ability somehow (maybe some stealth-type mission or at least enemies she could actually do damage to).
  2. I like the sound of that.
  3. Finally triggered the next main story mission in MGSV. Finishing off random SideOps did the trick. Looks like I've got two (yellow) main missions to go in the game.
  4. Man, Metal Gear Solid V really does fall apart in Chapter 2. Not even specifically talking about story or whatever, but the structure of how new missions are given. Twice now I'm stuck with no new story mission, for reasons I'm unsure of. Did the development team get cut in half or something after Chapter 1? All the 'A' team developers get moved to another project and they let the interns finish the game (ie. Chapter 2)? It's frustrating because I can't progress the story and there's no clear way to do it (I don't want to play the "extreme" versions of missions I already completed, and I'm bored of doing SideOps).
  5. This one did. I finished off one of those "eliminate tank unit" things by the Zaire airport and immediately after I finished, the game cut right to the cutscene with the second epidemic. Now I've got to do it again because no new main story mission popped up after I finished that one.
  6. I'm sort of stuck right now in Metal Gear Solid V. I have no main story missions available to me (I have some of those replay ones with harder restrictions, but none that advance the story), just a bunch of SideOps. I guess I'll play those and hope they trigger another main story mission at some point.
  7. That's out now? Damn, I lost track of time. Was looking forward to playing it.
  8. I should just finish off the remaining main story missions in MGSV. I'm starting to lose steam after a pretty damn good Chapter 1 is being followed up by a bare and a bit lackluster Chapter 2.
  9. Some of the tapes are interesting, but some are rather boring. I also can't find the blueprint for Quiet's strongest sniper rifle. It was probably one of the items I should have picked up during a main story mission, but didn't and now can't find it.
  10. Am I missing out on a lot of story references in MGSV because I've never played previous MGS games?
  11. Possibly. I've done a couple of the main missions and some of the replay missions in Chapter 2. One thing that's kind of making it boring now is every single enemy seems to be heavy infantry. So it makes for boring strategy since you can no longer snipe enemies from afar and use those kind of stealth infiltration. Everything either has to be noisy (missile/rocket launchers/grenades) or sneaking right up to each and every one of them and using hand-to-hand to take them down. I know there was a note about the enemy "getting used to my tactics", but come on. That's not getting used to it. That's basically just making sure my tactics never, ever work. It's like a D&D game where the enemy adapts to your sword-wielding fighter which you've put every single point into his sword fighting ability by becoming immune to any sort of melee damage.
  12. Oh, I didn't mean do those missions as SideOps. I meant I could understand re-doing SideOps missions, but with different restrictions. It just doesn't seem to work when re-doing main missions because of how jarring it is for the story. Did the game run out of time? Or did they cut a lot of content? Chapter 2 doesn't seem anywhere as fleshed out or in depth as Chapter 1. Ironically, however, I've come across way more cutscenes when returning to Mother Base in Chapter 2 than I ever got in Chapter 1.
  13. Speaking of immersion breaking, why did they decide to have you re-do the exact same missions from Chapter 1, in Chapter 2? Did they run out of original content to flesh out Chapter 2? When you do the missions, not only are they exact replications (except for the "restrictions" added on), but even the post-mission summary/report is exactly the same. Would have been a better idea to either use these restrictions when you play New Game+, or make them as part of a "hardcore" difficulty. Just seems to kind of ruin the flow when you're replaying missions that happened already for no apparent reason. I could understand it for SideOps, but as part of the main mission chain?
  14. Ah. It was just a jarring couple of scenes. One minute Snake's all playful and friendly, the next he's all menacing and watching the torture take place. Almost immersion ruining, in how disconnected the two scenes were (in the order they happened for me, that is).
  15. I wonder if certain cutscenes are tied directly to completing certain missions, while other cutscenes are simply dependent on you returning to MB. In my case, maybe I haven't been returning to MB enough to trigger the "optional" ones, so they play out of sync with the ones that automatically play when returning after finishing a main quest.
  16. I think these cutscenes in MGSV are all over the place, either because I didn't return to MB enough and missed them when they're supposed to play in the proper place in the story, or because the writers like jumping from one random scene to the next. For instance, the last two cutscenes I got were:
  17. MGSV. Weird. Seems like every time I return to Mother Base now, I see a cutscene play out. This is a stark contrast to Chapter 1, where I can only recall 3 or 4 total over the course of dozens of missions and tasks. I also came across a certain character in the Medical wing of MB. I got no indication that they were there; no journal updates or Ocelot speaking in my ear about it. I just happened to be running around the different levels of the Medical wing and noticed a door that was accessible. I'm probably missing out on a bunch of these encounters because I find it tedious running around Mother Base for no reason other than to explore.
  18. These type of missions are optional. Chapter 2 is full of that crap. In order to progress with the main story you don't have to do them- you can as well repeat any other mission. Also keep in mind you'll have to listen to all the yellow audio logs (just start them and go to the next works as well if you don't want to bother with going through all of them). Until chapter 2 I loved the game. Then it went downhill fast. That's disappointing. So I take it a lot of the "main missions" will be just repeats of Chapter 1 missions, but with various restrictions tacked on?
  19. For anyone who has played and finished MGSV, am I missing out on a lot of cutscenes/content by not visiting Mother Base after every mission? I'll only visit like once a play session, which usually means I'll do 3 or 4 missions in the field before returning to MB for a shower. The reason I ask is because I had two cutscenes start up the past couple of times I returned to MB, and wasn't sure if those were scripted to pop up at that point in the game regardless, or whether I triggered it by returning after a specific amount of completed missions.
  20. Played through one of the more frustrating missions in MGSV. Had to knock out a communications center (again, for some reason, since I did this already), but this time I wasn't given any weapons and the encampment was full of heavy infantry so you couldn't even just shoot these guys (too thick of armor). Add to that, you can't pick the time of day so by the time you infiltrate it's sunny out. As soon as you're spotted, they never fail to see where you go. And they've got snipers, heavy infantry, and rocket launchers firing at you from all sides. Not a fan at all of that mission. I know they were attempting to do a "difficult" version of a mission you take on earlier in the game, but from a story perspective it makes no sense why you have to do the mission with zero starting gear and can't bring a buddy along. Absolutely zero sense.
  21. Finally finished Chapter 1 in Metal Gear Solid V. At the end of it, when all the cutscenes were playing and then the credits rolled, I was like, "Huh? Game's done?". Then "Chapter 2" showed up and I'm like, "Oh, okay then". And yes, I do talk to myself when I'm alone playing video games. Nothing wrong with that. Yes there is. Shut up!
  22. For the most part I'm loving Metal Gear Solid V. But, man, some levels the designers make it almost impossible to do any sneaking. Three guards walking right next to each other, with two or three more guards following them a few seconds later, etc. And on top of that, you have to carry someone on your back and not let them get killed. Also, I hate those parasite Skulls with a passion.
  23. One thing I'm noticing about Metal Gear Solid V is just how much there is to do. I'd almost say it's too much. I'm starting to feel a bit overwhelmed between managing my hundreds of base employees, to the FOBs, to the Side Ops that never end. I'm starting to forget key points about what the main story is even about because I'm spending each session catching up on everything else going on around me.
  24. More MGSV for me. I hate facing enemies like the Man on Fire. I mean, they're challenging and sort of fun in a way because you have to use certain tactics (ie. water). I just don't like fights where you have to survive rather than defeat the enemy.
  25. That game alone convinced me to pick up a PS4. Such a good game, great voice acting, and a deep story. Even the combat was pretty damn good, considering it wasn't really supposed to be its focal feature.
