Just to add though to your "you seem to forget point totals are down across the board", yes they are. But what is your point? If he was still "one of the better players in the league" his point totals would still put him in AT LEAST the Top 50 in scoring (I was being generous giving you 50 instead of 20), and he's not. He's ranked 118th, tied with a rookie from Pittsburgh (Ryan Malone) and a career 3rd line grinder (Trent Klatt). But hey, if you want to think he's still one of the better players in the league, be my guest. Just please invite me to join one of your hockey pools so that I can select good players while you're busy selecting Messier and Lindros.

I'd say that's more a glitch then than anything, since this is the first I've heard of it happening.

I never meant to imply he was useless or he didn't belong in the NHL anymore (although I do wish he'd retire because I want to remember him as a SUPERSTAR, not as just an average player). My main point was about Volourn saying he was still one of the better players in the league. That's just false.

I know stats aren't everything, but how else do you measure intangibles? Leadership? He's been the captain of a team that's missed the playoffs 4 years in a row. So one could argue that his leadership isn't quite what it used to be. Physical play? He's not a physical force at 40+ years old anymore. Sure he's no wimp, but his days of actually being physically intimidating are over. Fact is if NHL GM's were allowed to do a dispersal draft where every single player was put into the draft, Messier would NOT be selected in the Top 20.

I can understand the shorter length of games, but that doesn't necessarily explain the lack of emphasis on storytelling. JE and KOTOR (1 and 2) are good examples of games with short length (compared to oldschool cRPGs), but still having decent stories.

I think the problem with storyline suggestions, especially super long ones where someone puts a lot of effort in, is that they'll not be used. I can't see a designer making a game and then implementing someone else's story idea. I know I've made some storyline suggestions, but still seems a bit of a waste of effort.

That explains why I never played it then. Naboo=the place that Jar Jar was conceived.
