What? From that article it said he (Jerec) had no eyes. How did you "find out Miras' eye color" from those two links?

So if the kid consistently puts up 130 to 160 points per season, you'd still say he didn't live up to the hype? Maybe it's just me, but assuming he does something like that, I can't see how that still means he didn't live up to the hype all because he didn't get 200 points or 90 goals. If he ends his career with 3 or 4 scoring titles and 3 or 4 Hart trophies, would that be enough for you? Or does he have to win 10 scoring titles, score 200 points atleast once, and 9 Harts before he lives up to the hype? My point is you seem to expect him to BE Gretzky before he lives up to the hype. He can't just be a superstar and dominate his current generation. He's got to BE Gretzky. And I think that's ridiculous.

As a side note to expand on the quoted part of Volourn's post, I've never understood why it's such a big deal to have scandily clad women running around as advertising bait. I don't get upset or feel exploited if they have some muscular man with his shirt off advertising something. -

I think you read way more in to the hype than was supposed to be there, then. My expectations and what I read into the hype about him being "The Next One" was plain and simply that he'd be the next dominant player of his era, with the possibility of coming close to breaking some of Gretzky's records. Not that he was expected to do that, or be a bust.

I didn't know JE worked on K2 Please be certain of who worked on what before you label someone a hypocrite <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't think he was talking about Josh directly, but as "you guys" referring to the company Josh now represents. -

If it's announced at E3, does that necessarily mean it'll be out this year? That could mean an early 2007 release. Not to mention if it IS mentioned at E3 it likely indicates that K3 has been in development for atleast a half dozen months by now. In which case a 2007 release would give it about the same time as NWN2 is getting. -

On the other hand, couldn't it be reasoned that if someone would rather fawn over a booth babe than pay attention to a new game, that game obviously isn't very appealing? From my own perspective, I can say that I like women. A lot. But if I'm at a video game expo then I'm there for the video games. The only time I could see myself getting sidetracked is if the game is so boring or so unappealing that I might as well stare at the semi-nude babe. -
You know, you really do need to be a bit more consistent with your comments. You complain non stop about "easy" games are and it disappoints you. But then you immediately label something like the werewolf impossible, when by all accounts YOU are the only one that had trouble with it. Here's a thought: maybe game companies can never find a happy medium for gamers like you because your view of what is "easy" and what is "impossible" is so far out in left field.

They called Lindros "The Next One" when he was coming up, too. I think people lose sight of the fact "The Next One" means the next NHL superstar, not exactly the next Gretzky. Considering the point totals Yzerman put up over his career, if Crosby comes close to matching or surpassing that, I don't see how you can say he didn't live up to the hype. Does the kid literally have to duplicate Gretzky's astronomical numbers to "live up to the hype"? If so, then I think you misunderstood why they called him "The Next One". edit: for example, LeBron James is supposed to be the next Michael Jordan. Does that mean he's a bust if he doesn't average over 30 points a game each season and lead his team to 6 NBA championships? No. As long as he's the most dominant player in the CURRENT NBA, then he's live up to the hype. Same with Crosby. At the end of his career if he was considered the most dominant player during his era, then he lived up to the hype.

I don't know the exact break down of Mario's second season, but I can tell you from keeping a close watch on it that Sidney's second year numbers, while decent compared to his first, are misleading. He actually got off to a "slow" start by his standards. He had something like 74 points in 38 games. He then went to the World Juniors. When he returned in January, the Oceanic went on a 29 game unbeaten streak (yes, you read that correct) in the regular season and Crosby got something like 90 points in 26 games he played in when he returned. But that's besides the point. As I said the only reason I brought it up was as a guideline to see what other "superstar" players got in their rookie season. I could have just as easily said Eric Lindros got 75 points in his rookie year instead, or someone who I think Crosby's game will be more similar to, Steve Yzerman had 87 points in his rookie year.
-
Good news, good news. Unfortunately that means I don't have anything new to play until June.
-
Again, I repeat, I'm not comparing Crosby to Lemieux or suggesting Crosby is, or will be, better than Lemieux. I posted the stats, like before, comparing Lemieux and Crosby's junior careers ONLY because you said that Lemieux's stats in the "Q" blew Crosby's away, when in fact that was a GROSS mistake. And I follow all three CHL leagues (QMJHL, OHL, WHL) quite extensively, and have viewed many games live (including some "Q" games involving both Mario and Sid in their respective day). So I'm not making an uneducated comment about them.
-
You might want to double check that comment about their stats in the "Q" Again, you're taking my comment out of context. It all started with Volourn's "90 points aren't anything special". That's when I commented about they are special coming from a 18 year old rookie, and just mentioned as a comparison (since they're on the same team) what Lemieux got as a rookie. Lemieux: (at 16) 64 GP 30 G 66 A 96 P (at 17) 66 GP 84 G 100 A 184 P Crosby: (at 16) 59 GP 54 G 81 A 135 P (at 17) 62 GP 66 G 102 A 168 P Crosby's points per game was much better in his rookie season, and their points per game worked out to very similar thing in year two (Crosby was on pace for 179 points if he played 66 GP) Lemieux's next season is when he had his 144 goal season, but it's impossible to compare that to Crosby since Crosby is in the NHL now at 18. edit: corrected a stat calculation
-
Lemieux's not exactly the same player he was. He's been hurt most of the time, so I think it's unfair to say Crosby's benefited from him. Especially since even when Lemieux was healthy he wasn't on Crosby's line. btw, I'm not comparing Lemieux to Crosby. I was comparing the eras each played in. I'll be the first to say Lemieux is one of the, if not the, most dominant scorers in NHL history. The only reason I brought him up was to compare their stats, and then the only reason I further talked about it is because one poster (forget his usernam) suggested I was wrong about Lemieux's generation being higher scoring than this year.
-
Um? Have you looked at the stats? True, this year's NHL is higher scoring than the past decade, but when Lemieux came in to the league (mid 80's) it was the run and gun generation. Goals Per Game link As the above link shows, this year the offense is producing (league average) at a 3.16 goals per game pace, which would be Crosby's "generation". Lemieux's rookie season, which is what I was comparing, was in the mid 80's. The above shows that during the 1981-1990 era (Lemieux's generation), the goals scored per game, per team was 3.82, which is MUCH higher than the offense this year. So yeah, you might want to look at that link I provided to confirm that I was correct about Lemieux's generation being higher scoring than Crosby's.

I must have missed all these user made mods that supposedly add game play to the BG series. The only ones I've downloaded and played include stuff like skipping Irenicus' dungeon, and a more balanced end battle. I haven't seen (or tried) any that add extra content or actually change the game.

I could have sworn I already voted. Maybe it's the fact that the same polls keep popping up over and over. <_< -
Ovechkin was as highly touted as Crosby. In fact, most of the sports analysists I remember watching at the beginning of the year pegged him to have a better year than Crosby, mostly due to his age (he's 20, Crosby 18) and physical maturity. I think what's hurt Crosby has been the turmoil in Pittsburgh. That team was supposed to be quite offensively gifted, but with Gonchar playing like crap, Lemieux being hurt and never really 100%, LeClair and Recchi looking like they should retire, and Palffy losing his goal scoring touch (he had decent points, but only a lousy 11 goals), it took a lot out of Crosby's so called high powered linemates. Lundqvist has been a huge surprise. The only thing that I thought might go against him in Calder voting was sharing duty with Weekes. But now that he's the undisputed number one he's got a good shot at winning it. Other rookie notables include Prucha and Marek Svatos in Colorado, but I think it'll come down to Ovechkin and Crosby, with Lundqvist being the darkhorse.

Atton seemed to accept it the best. Atleast from what I remember his responses once he went DS were the most "in character" with what one who was corrupted would say. -
