Not quite what I was expecting/hoping for. But anything CDPR or Witcher, I'll get. -
RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS - CON SEASON
GhostofAnakin replied to Blarghagh's topic in Computer and Console
The Witcher Tales? Thronebreaker? What the eff? Is this an actual game, or is it like a collection of random DLC missions from past games or what? -
Now that you're nearing the end, what do you think of it? How does it stack up to the Arkham games for you, personally? And would you buy the/a sequel? I like the parkour elements better in this game. I could never get a hang of gliding around Gotham with Batman. I think the side quests are better in Batman, though. More fleshing out of the secondary villains. Overall, I've enjoyed it and would definitely get the sequel or even the DLC expansions (assuming they add additional story missions).
-
I'm nearing the end of Spider-Man. Probably one or two main missions left, plus whatever leftover camps and crimes to solve.
-
Insomniac decided to ramp up the difficulty out of the blue. The previous crime side tasks were simple and the enemies easy. Now I'm facing a bunch of Sable enemies who all have rifles, most have jetpacks, and they all shoot at the same time, so dodging one means moving into the line of fire of the next four guys.
-
I can only get the bronze one for the drone challenges. Largely because I get so distracted by trying to hit those big blue spheres that I lose track of the launching points and Spidey ends up getting hung up on buildings or falling with nothing to swing from.
-
More Spider-Man. Playing through some of the Taskmaster's challenges. I like the stealth and combat ones, am iffy on the bomb ones, but dislike the drone ones.
-
Winner winner chicken dinner.
-
I really must not know much Spider-Man lore. Until I played this game, I'd never heard of one of the main bad guys.
-
Okay, screw off with this stupid pigeon mission.
-
The one (big) edge the Arkham games have over Spider-Man is the side content. I'm noticing that it's basically main story missions that focus on the "name" characters Spidey faces, with the occasional side quest, and some random crime fighting things. Batman seemed to have to take on more of his "name" enemies within the game.
-
A couple of these challenges in Spider-Man confuse me how to pull off. The one where you run along the wall, then use a slignshot around the corner only works like 10% of the time.
-
I think I enjoy traversing the open world city in Spider-Man more than I did in the Batman games. Spidey being able to swing from buildings is fun traveling. Still getting used to the controls. I still can't get the knack of melee combat, so I find myself using the web shooter a lot to tie enemies up before hitting them.
-
I gave up on that series because, despite the commercials and hype to the contrary, I actually found stickhandling and making highlight reel dekes even more difficult than in older versions. I still kind of prefer the old buttons for shots, and the stick for stickhandling because often times with the new setup, I find myself taking a weak shot on net when what I'm trying to do is deke the goalie out.
-
Yeah, I finally saw my first side mission. The characters are taking me a while to get used to because I've always been more of a Batman comic fan, so I'm not all that familiar with the various Spider-Man lore (I know who Kingpin is, though).
-
Spider-Man got delivered today, so I've just been messing around with it. Very early in. A couple of things: 1-Where are the side missions to do in the open world? Only missions that seem to show up are the yellow-dot main missions. 2-In combat, I can't seem to find the button/control to focus on a single enemy. So I'm constantly swinging the right stick around trying to locate new enemies. One of the things I found made the Batman combat easier was you could select to target one enemy and the camera would focus on that one.

How is it my orders always seem to be the ones shipped on couriers that break down? A couple of weeks ago, my book order was late a day because of some "courier delay". Today, my Spiderman game was supposed to arrive but is delayed because of a courier issue. Fix your damn trucks!

Walmart in my city sucks. Their selection of games went from great to poor over the last year. I don't know if the owner of this specific store decided to get lax or what, but I've found a lot of times they're out of stock of items I want. In this case, clearly I'm talking about the Spiderman game.
-
Doesn't help me much if even easy difficulty ends up kicking my rear end.
-
I think I'm going to buy the new Spiderman game. I'll probably be swearing when I get my butt handed to me by random thugs, but I've got nothing else on the go right now.
-
I think you lost me at "easier to die". I suck at twitch gaming. The Arkham combat (on the easier levels) was about on par for what I can handle in these action games.
-
Leave a review of your early impressions. I'm curious to see if it's a game I'm even going to bother with or not. If it's close-ish to the Batman Arkham games, I probably would be interested.
-
I actually preferred the base campaign of the first Destiny. I couldn't even tell you why now, as it's been a while since I played it, but I just remember enjoying it more.
-
Yeah, it's incredibly annoying when the response options you're shown don't accurately reflect what the character ends up saying. Option shown: "I'm unsure I can trust you." Dialogue spoken after choosing this: "You're an untrustworthy lout who deserves his entire race killed in an instant! Give me one reason why I shouldn't end your bloodline right now, heathen?" Uh, what? I went from assuming my character was just going to be skeptical of him to basically laying down an insulting challenge to his entire species?! And I'm supposed to be on a diplomatic mission!

How in the heck was he allowed to carry firearms into the building? I mean, I know it's America and they're allowed to carry guns, but shouldn't security have prevented that from going into the actual building?
