Hello! I'm doing my first playthrough of PoE1 and want to import a character to do PoE2 soon after. I was planning on selling Whispers of Yenwood but now I see its listed as a reagent for Whispers of the Endless Paths in PoE2. Do I need to keep it in my inventory the entire game in order to import it? Thanks!

Hey Everyone! Been having a lot of fun tearing things up as a monk; I just hit level 5 and I'm torn on what my talent choices should be. So far I've picked The cone aoe double attack which is awesome and the 10 second knockback stun and I'm happy with those choices. I'm leaning on getting the stunning blow encounter power next but not sure if I should look into the attack speed buff or turning wheel. In my mind both of those seem not as good since holding onto wounds is way less dps then spending them on CC or DPS depending on the situation. My monk already attacks fast as it is so is 1.25 for ten seconds really worth it when I could spend that wound for two instant strikes with potential for massive aoe? I feel like spending wounds is the way to go so far, not sure if this is going to change too much with a larger HP pool. So is stunning blows the way to go? Should I go for the movement speed boost? Thanks!

Hi Guys! I'm currently looking for as much clothing and robes I can find for my monk to see if I can find a style that fits for my character, I'm finding a lot of a certain type of clothing but I see a lot of NPC's wearing stuff that I want. Is there a way I can find them without evilly murdering everyone I just want to look like? lol What about those stupid immersion breaking backers with yellow nameplates, can I kill them without penalty or will that count as an evil action? Thanks!

The Ranger's Animal Companion should receive an Athletics bonus tied to the Ranger's own skill level. As most of us have already discovered - Athletics is the most useful skill in the game and every character benefits from at least one or two points so you can finish a dungeon without resting. The Ranger's Animal companion is fatigued from only a few hours however and I feel this should be looked at.

Hey Guys! I've started playing a ranger and I'm struggling with my level 2 Talent choice. While I dont mind using the pet I feel like I should avoid the pet-buffing talents, and I'm unsure if +6 accuracy to my chosen weapon is worth it since Ranger's already have so much Accuracy. Are there any other worthwhile level 2 Ranger talents? What do you guys think? I'm leaning on getting +6 Solider Weapon focus. Cheers,

Exiting Raedric Hold Dungeon, Game Crash
Junkermanz replied to Alupinu's question in Backer Beta Bugs and Support
I crash trying to get back into the Hold. Tried all exits and entrances. -
@Voss If you double click items instead of drag and dropping them it permanently disables several passive traits and abilities for that character... it depends on the type of character and race if you are impacted by it or not. I'd wager almost everyone is impacted to some degree unless you ALWAYS drag and drop. For NPC's removing them from the party and adding them again will fix it, for the PC there is no known solution as of yet.

Hi guys! I took the biting whip talent at level 2, when I check my character sheet in combat it shows: "Biting Whip Damage x2.4" In combat however I do not see anything added to the damage calculation. Is it hidden? Is it affected by the double click bug most of us are plagued with? If anyone knows I'd appreciate it! Cheers,

From my tests Pet damage most definitely does not show up as Ranger damage in the party/personal information section.

Hey guys! I just hit level 4 on my Cipher, so far I'm having a tonne of fun with the game, but now I'm terribly torn as to what my level 4 talent choice should be. At level 2 I selected the cipher class ability that causes increased damage from your soul whip. I feel like that was a good choice. Next I'm unsure how to proceed. I'd ideally like to take a talent that increases my accuracy but I'm unsure which weapon I should be sticking with. So far I have been using a Warbow and have been enjoying it in combat and its aesthetics RP-wise, I recently picked up a pistol - and while the damage is good, it is pretty slow and inaccurate and doesnt look as cool as the bow does. I'm interested in using a rifle but I'm unsure where to get one or how far into the game they become available. As I wasnt able to find on in the BB I'm not sure if I'll like using it or not. So should I take the warbow accuracy or the rifle accuracy talents? Also, is penetrating shot worth it the talent as well down the road? Thanks!

Ranger Build?

Thanks, Sock! Good read. I'm having a hard time choosing between the Ranger and Cipher. I'm a sucker for being a woodsman! -
Wizard vs Cipher

Is a ranged Cipher the way to go? Which abilities and talents would compliment this? Is the Cipher better with the CC debuff abilities or straight DPS? -
Player character clinic.
Junkermanz replied to Karranthain's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Hey everyone! After playing through the opening sequences of the Beta with a number of different classes I found the Ranger to be the most effective and most enjoyable for me to playthrough. I made a ranged ranger using a Warbow with the Wolf pet and focused on Might and fairly distributed the rest of the attributes. I feel like I need more information when building my main character and I've read on the forums here that there are viable Melee builds for the Ranger class as well. Not being especially tied to the idea of a ranged character or a melee one I'd be interested in learning more. So! If any competent ranger players wish to educate me on the do's and dont's of the class I would apprecite it! What kind of attributes are useful? Which talents should I play close attention to? Are the pet specific talents useful? I've seen a lot of pet hate on the forums here, and while I'm not especially impressed by its usefullness as a damage dealer on the field, I found the Wolf to be especially powerful as a flanker and for kiting mobs around the encounters on harder difficulties; functioning more like a high micro CC rather then DPS. I'm not sure they'd benifit from the pet talents at all though over taking the ones that make the Ranger more powerful. Regarding attribute spread, is dex actually useful at all? I've played both high dex and no dex characters and havent really been able to notice much of a difference compared to playing with armor or without armor. For RP purposes I'd like to use DEX as a dump stat in favor of resolve and perception which seem to fit more with the quiet observer Ranger conept I see in my head for the character.- 48 replies

Looks good! Do you think the +1 to X Spell Level are worth it at all or do Druids have enough between rests to not need it? I guess that a lot of those feats you took instead go a long way in making the druid more potent when its not needing to pull out those spells.

Is ranged combat the way to go then when you're not slinging spells? I wouldnt mind giving him a gun just because its a novelty of this new setting but a crossbow or bow would be fine too. Is one a clear winner over the others? Is dex a big deal for casting speed? I feel like I'm leaning towards resolve as well for RP as well as interrupt resist. I've experimented with dex a little bit with some of the other characters but never really noticed that big of a difference.

Thanks for the great response Hermit! This is exactly what I needed/was looking for. I'm a little torn on skills still, I think I'll be going Lore, Athletics, Survival for RP reasons. I gather the beta isnt the best place to test these things but is there any word on what the skill checks are going to look like? IE: Will I need to max min to be able to use them or can I safely spread it between three? Is a weapon focus feat worth it at all? 6 accuracy doesnt seem like very much in the grand scheme of things. The Druid just better off hanging back and slinging spells as needed? I'm pretty bumed out to see how poorly the shape shifting was handled; I feel like it'd be pretty easy and balanced to just make it super strong and one use per day or something you can spec into but all the wildshape feats seem like total garbage from my paltry experience with the game so far. I remember reading a long time ago that low level spells would eventually be unlimited uses per day; any word on that or was that scrapped through development?

Hey folks! After checking in with the Beta on and off since its release I've been struggling with some of the mechanics of this game and I truly have no idea where to even begin with building my character. I'd like to play a druid as I'm a fan of spellcasters and the themes of the class but I'm confused as to which stats I should be selecting for and which ones can safely be dumped. I'm a veteran of RPG's so I have a pretty strong understanding of how to build good characters in 2ed through 3.5ed dnd and I think what I'm lacking right now is detailed information on how things are running under the hood. I find the current stat descriptions to be pretty vague and many of the talens are just written descriptions without any actual numbers; which I find makes it very confusing to pick and choose and see what works without having to make two douzen characters which I dont have the time or interest at present to do. So my question for those who have taken the time to delve deeper then I have: How do I build a good druid? What stats should be focused on? What skills? Which weapons to use? Which talents to select? Which spells are worth using? My thanks for your time everyone! Excited for the final release!
