NWN2's official fact sheet and some new artworks
Volourn replied to funcroc's topic in Computer and Console
Initial sales were helped by the BG series, but I would guess that initial sales were less than a third of total sales of NWN." Um. I would not go that far. I'm sure it's at least half the initial sales if not more came early. That's true for the majority of games. Though; Drakron forgets that lots of people who bought NWN either in spite of BG series 9afterall, some people do hate BIO's previous works) or simply because they wanted a D&D game and didn't care who made it. As for familiairs, yeah, NWN's were not more pwoerful than pnp fmailairs. PnP familairs have some very good advantages that NWN familiars don't have - all pnp familiars have evasion/improved invasion, SR, have the possibility of great hp depending on the owner, and lots of other uses. The only thing that NWN familiars had on their pnp versions is that they did make better striaght up tanks. My desire is for them to have the basic pnp familairs and then also have access to the Improved Familair feat. That would rock. I still wants my beholder eye. <> -
"It's EASY for you to say all these things after you have played the game. Let me leave it at that." It was easy for me to say it even while playing the game. Very easy. I'll leave it at THAT. "KOTOR II requires you to think." No, it doesn't. PST requires you to think. KOTOR2 doesn't. If yout hink in KOTOR2 all you gonna do is realize the game is, while decently fun after Peragus, is a hack game. Too much effort was put in to rip off of PST, and not enough effort was to pull it off successfully. "KOTOR I is best played with your brain switched off because if you do think you will see right through it long before the game decides to tell you about it. It was the whole having to play along thing that I hated most about it , aside from the cheese of Malak. It was clear you were being played but you couldnt confront Bastila about it, or even return to Dantooine and demand an explanation. Thats Biowares greatest failingas writers. They put in these twists and then make them completely obvious by putting in tons of clues. Like the letters in NwN. Or what about the bless spell which is obviously not bless, yet the character dosnt get an option to act on that evidence." KOTOR2 has *exactly* th same problems. "Well, I'm done reading your opinions. Better luck next time." That's right. Read soemthing you don't like; close your eyes and pretend it doens't exist and write the person off as a retard. It makes it easy to pretend your delusions of grandeur is perfect. As for posting on this baord; you can't stop posting on this baord, and crying about anti Obsidian/KOTOR2 remarks like a baby and demanding that people leave is the hight of immaturity. The thread starter, while negative was (mostly) mature in sharing his opinion. There are definitely other anti and some pro KOTOR2 peeps who are the depths of immaturity - you being one of 'em - so don't throw stones.

NWN2's official fact sheet and some new artworks

"NWN that sold a lot due to BioWare reputation from the BG series with the other being substandart products." Only partyl. It may have sold evry well based on the success of BG; but it continued and continues to sale and has led to a sequel because enough people seem to have liked it enough to reccommend it to their friends to buy who, of course, eventually did. NWN did not get expansions, a telephone version, and now a sequel on the basis of BG's success; but on the basis of NWN's success. I do agree that 3.5 is overrated with some very dumb rules, and is simply not needed. But, since it's basically a 3.0 version remixed; it liveable. -
"The story of all the companions, EVERY DETAIL the first time through by maxing out the influence system." And? That doens't make it deep. "- How you got to Peragus mining facility and why" You should know that before the game start sicne your character supposedly doesn't have amnesia yet thd devs play games with you just for kicks. Anywayds, the reason is because the game starts there. "- You must have predicted all to well that the jedi masters would try and strip the force from the exile again" Sure did. It was obvious to anyone since the Jedi Council banished you once; of coutse they'll do it again espicially when you tell them what's up. I was hoping for an out; but alas; no go. "- that you were going to end up on malachor v halfway through the game" From the first time it was mentioned pretty much., malaichor V was too important to not have the PC go there. Afterall, that's where the PC has his big broo haa and where the Big Secret tm. took place. "-Kreia manipulating you during the whole game for her own ends." You joking right? I knew Kreia was the moment she pretended to be dead the first time you saw her "dead". Hahah. Talk about obvious manipulation. Hades: "Every Bioware game that has come out has been a predictable piece and very shallow and poor writing, very much unlike Obsidian and former BIS games." yet, you rate BIo agmes rather highly including 75% for the OC and nearly 90% for KOTOR1 and you are someone who claims that story is the only thing that matter. Haha. Not to mention, have you played the IWD series? Those are BIS games and are more shallow than *any* of BIO's RPG's this side of TOSC and SOU.

KOTOR2 tries too ahrd to be like PST and it fails miserably doing so. KOTOR2 is still a solid game; but it is not a really memorable one. Though; KOTOR1 isn't much better, imo. I ahven't replayed either one as neither one makes me wnat to replay it. They're simply not good enough. And, neither one is as deep as people claim. KOTOR2'S main villain is as shallow as they come. And, don't try arguing it here as I don't waant to spoil things; but this being only feels one emotion - you can't get more shallow than that. Period.

NWN2's official fact sheet and some new artworks
Volourn replied to funcroc's topic in Computer and Console
Extremely short article; but informative nontheless... "Unbeknownst to the denizens of the North, deep in the Mere of Dead Men, dark forces from across the Realms have been rallied under the banner of a legendary evil" Sounds like IWD2.... That's not a good thing... Still, in the grand scheme of things, the approach to this old hat story could be good which is very possible with the Cool Dudes at Obsidian... " -
Only if it's paid work.

The above post was sponsored by Bioware Fanboy Incorported tm. " P.S. Yes, BIO is so big now that even their Fanboys have a corportation! (w00t)

"Not unless you enjoy button mashing gameplay, predictable stories, formulaic endings, and cookie-cutter characters." Huh? If this is your list of your reasons for hating the Ffs eries; i find your logic lacking. 1. Button smashing? What? FF games are TB for the most aprt so if youa re button smashing you ar elosing your grip on reality. 2. Predictable stories? That's right. You knew every FF story from the get go. I seriously find that ahrd to believe. 3. Formulaic endings? True for the most aprt though some FFs are noticable exemptions to this. Just look at FFX. And, certainly FF isn't the only RPG guilty of this sin - look at your preicous KOTOR series on this. 4. Cookie cutter character? Like every single RPG I have ever played. WOWSERS! With the kind of criticism you gave, it paints FF is having some of the problems that ALL rpgs have; but it hides it better. And, it proves you are on crack. Button smashing in FF. R00fles!

I loved the Ultima series; but to be honest I can barely remember the stuf in them so it wouldn't be fair to judge them. That's why other than me saying I like Ultima; you won't find the Ultima series in my top 10 other than as a series. I also worry about replaying them now as for some reason even grpahics aside, I doubt they'll hold up all that well. No other older game does.

"halo fable jade empire kotor kotor 2 splinter cell (i think)" Don't care one bit of poo for Halo, Fable, and Splinter Cell. I have KOTOR series on PC. Fable cna eb found on PC if need be. JE is the only exlusive X-box title on that list that makes it wortwhile. In fatc, I was *this* close to buying one then changed my mind. "and the controllers are too small on ps2 and the buttons are everywhere and you cant use both the thumbsticks and top right buttons at the same time whereas on xbox you can." Better small thana wkward. PS2 controllers are perfect in comaprison to x-box one. Absolutely atrocious those. "and the graphics....judging by what i've seen the ps2 graphics are as bad as runescape." This proves that you aren't even trying to make sense. "*obvious cough* PWNED!!! *obvious cough*" You believe in slavery therefore you should be banned as that's immoral and against the forum rules to mistreat fellow humans like that. In essence, you lose.
-
PS2. Grahics are pretty much on par with the x-box in most games I've seen as far as I'm concerned though I guess x-box technically has better graphics. The controllers are wayyyyy better. And, the most important thing, it's game library is beyond being superior to the x-box one.

"yeah what he said quit complaing and just play the game" No. I stopped playing it a good month ago.

Ahh.. Another trolling thread. Where's a mod when you need one? The only reason this thread exists is to to attack and flame other posts which is the very definition of trolling. Next.

Yet Another Week and No Patch
Volourn replied to Lemurmania's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
"I blame Lucas, not Obsidian, for the condition of this game." Great! Then you praise LA for the great characetr known as Kreia as well as the other cool npcs, as well as nice the role-playing, the solid influence system (which needs improvement), and all the other good stuff too. LA did a wonderful job with the writing too! Not perfect; but good. -
Do you guys belive they actually started to work
Volourn replied to poolofpoo's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
"You guys have some pretty high standards for the completion time of a patch, or maybe I'm somewhat ignorant to how patches are handled these days. Regardless, patience is a virtue. " It's nearing 2 months since the game has been released without patch. Sorry, unless this patch is gonn abe huge or if LA has found soime major bugs within the patch; it is obvious both companies are dragging their feet on it. Chances are that by the time the patch is released, most people would have simply moved on. Heck, KOTOR2 is now officially off my computer. And, for some reason, I doubt I'm alone in that. -
If only the demo would actually work.
-
Yet you didn't ignore it as evidenced by your post in this thread.
-
It's ok. It could be MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH better.
-
Bah. What a waste. Four tried, and each time the download ing of the dmeo is corrputed yet I only find out after I try to install it. LOL If this is a smaple of the bugs to expected; I'll pass. LOL

Who's the new tragic heroine?
Volourn replied to Jedi Valius's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
"What's tragic about Handmaiden? Whatever it is, I think Visas got her beaten..." Umm.. That her Mistress set her up. The way her sisters treated her like trash, and tried to slaughter her. Etc., etc. -
Another week gone by and no Patch in sight.
Volourn replied to By Design's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
"The game itself symbolizes the downfall of Baldur's Gate franchise." No. The game is awesome. It also STRENGTHENED the BG franchise. The engine is awesome. The combat is awesome. The characetrs are awesome. The story was okay. The game could be longer though. 10 hours does not equal worthy of a new game pruchase which is why I waited and bought it for $30 instead of the original $60+. Still, great action game. -
Who's the new tragic heroine?
Volourn replied to Jedi Valius's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
"The only tragic heroine in Kotor 2 would be Kreia." Kreia is no heroine - she is a villainess. Afterall, she murders and allows innocents to be murdered by the planet. How the hell is that heroic? She is a hateful villain who hates everything. Anyways, Visas is probably the most tragic. -

"Consider that his punishment for playing BG:DA!" BGDA was awesome! -
True, no hard numbers, but it just takles a bit to figure out - just look at the number of people who post regularly here. Even on the BIO boards in spite of their millions of members, only a relatively small number actually posts. I'm sure my "100" estimate could very be low as I was just being exaggertaive to point out the fallacy that just because people are still playing IE mods that it would somehow mean the IE is still popular; let alone popular enough to be amrketabll in 2005 or beyond. Would I buy a new IE engine game? Sure; but I'm one of those hardcore goofs who'd buy anything that has RPG or D&D on it pretty much. LOL Most people won't. If they did; I'm sure BIo would still be using the IE. And, oh, hi Sermon.
