  1. "toee did an okie dokie job with implementation of d&d wounding and dying rules... and we is just fine with 'em. would be tougher to pull off with real time" Meh. These rules worked well enough in NWN (not used in the OC) as well so it most defeinitely cna work in 'real time'... 6 seconds per round in real time gives you alot of time to patch up your teammates.
  2. Yup. And, BIO didn't redo that mistake. Even in HOTU, resurection (outside of the gift rez rod at the start) wasn't easily come by unless you were a cleric. And, it's one of the things SOU did well outside of ch1.... (though you techincally couldn't die in ch1 since you were ported back to base ). But, even in the OC, at least your companion *could* die. None of this 'he's just unconcious'. But, still, both the NWN OC and the KOTOR way are far from ideal in a D&D game. Acceptable in the KOTORs; but not here. Game over.
  3. lol Rez doesn't make death temporary. Death is permenant. Rez is not just soemthing you can flick your wrist , and have it done (well, it shouldn't be anyways). 99% of the time someone dies theya re dead even in the Realms. Rez is very costly in terms of gold, experience, and so on. Not to mention there are many ways to make ressuretcion IMPOSSIBLE to use. Both raise dead, and ressurection have time limits. They both need parts of the body (even a small part) so if a companion dies and you are forced to run, you'll likely never be able to raise them. And, npc clerics don't tend to cast it on other sjust because they pay money, and most definitely not on those who view things differently. Well.. games like Bg series don't count which makes that trivial. Real death, and real ressurection are awesome! (real in the sense of fantasy land, lol_ R00fles!
  4. No, no it doesn't.
  5. Whiney Internet Geeks = First game released since the coming of the internet whatever game that was. <>
  6. These are NOT books. These are games. You might as well cut out combat completely, have no reload button, and have the game control the PC's choices... afterall, don't want anything to intervere in the story, right? The whole point of writing a story for a game instead of a novel or a movie is that you should try to make the story work with the game. Period. "That was the most innane comment you have ever made." That post of yours is the most innane post you have ever made. Trying to a novel written instead of agame with a good story amde. If I wanna buy a book, I'll buy a book. Good stories in a agme are essential; but we shouldn't forget that it's a game. Game over.
  7. "Dying from an unlucky ratbite in some random sewer encounter isnt exactly going out in a blaze of glory" Thems the breaks. Sometimes the least heroic death is the most heroic death of all.
  8. "Is it even possible for Imoen or Yoshimo to die while they still have things to do in the plot? I thought Yoshimo always disappeared after X damage." Yoshimo, cna die. IIRC, it's one of the ways one can cheat to bring him back. I never tried it though. "And Imoen is taken away from you right away....what happens if she dies in the prologue?" Hmm.. Long time ago, but BIo did cheat with her. I believe she runs away when reaches 0hp, and you next see her as you leave Irenicus' hideout. Don't quote me on that, it's been a long while. Not the ideal situation; but meh. Still, I would prefer if BIO simply let her die, and find another reason for you to chase Irenicus: ie. He's trying to murder you and take your soul, lol. Good enough reason to go after someone, I think.

"Anybody that was following the free agency period when the announcement came that he rejected a 5 year, $25 million contract, as well as a 5 year, $32.5 million contract. A few days later, he signed a 3 year contract, the weekend before his qualifying offer expired (and essentially the deadline for signing for him). For a guy that really wanted to be in Boston, and a GM that really wanted Joe to play in Boston, it sure did take a heck of a long time to come to an agreement on a contract." Contracts - espicially in sports - almost always take a while to sign. It's never an overnight thing. There's too much red ink, and small print to mess. Anyyways, Tampa Bay went overboard with this contract. Silly, silly gooses. I think TB has been on crack since the lockout. Getting rid of their SC winning goalie, and overpaying a cpiple of players is beyond silly.
  10. "KOTOR deaths make more sense when characters are very intertwined with the story." Nah. Not if the writer makes effort to write. All the PST npcs, and some of the BG2 npcs (most noteably Imoen) were important to the story but dead was dead for them. Of course, they cheated in PST and gave your character auto raises. "Imagine K2 without Kreiah" A better game? :D Actually, in a character driven game, deaths hould be death espicially. Death would mean soemthing, and therefore characters would mean more. Life means nothing without the possibility of dying.
  11. "concept of death and immortality (not Godhood)" Picky, picky. So, so, picky. Almost as picky as me. I like it. "The bio boards are a bit sterile." No. This is silly talk that is also unrelated to the topic at hand. "So, if they make the rules fit the game then I'll be fine." Good. Then you agree that since NWN2 is using D&D rules it should continue to that trend and use D&D death rules. "I never really minded the way KotOR handled death." I didn't mind it all that much either even if it's ultimately a 'poor' way of handling death. It is fine ... in KOTOR... unacceptable in a D&D game.
  12. With the awesome trilogy that were the NW2 NWVault Interview we got a lot of information about NWN2 from Mr. Maximus. Most of the info was on the positive side; but since we are 'netters and we always seem to focus on the negative I decided for this thread at least focus on what may be considered a negative. Obsidian has decided to do a KOTOR series style 'death rule' where 'dead characters' are considered unconcious unless there's a total party wipe out (TPWO). The question for this poll is simple enough: What, amongst the choices, is your favorite death rule? ? This is so Obsidian can see what their TRUE fanboys (Obsidian board posters) think. I'd have done it on the BIO boards but they are evil and don't allow actual polls to easily keep track of stuff. Enjoy. :D

"Why would you sign a guy and then trade him?" Heh. Someone should have told Boston that. "
  15. Hmmm.. Silly me.. I never noticed this section. LOL :D Thought KOTOR2 boards were split on KOTOR2 GD, KOTOR2 Spoilers, and Bug Fixing Section. Cool beans.
  16. NWN (99% modding), and EQ2 stilll though EQ2 will likely be abolished at the end of the money due to funds needed for new PC rig. EQ2 is more fun than it has any right to be that's for sure.
  17. LOL I'll never be a mod. I just self appointed myself for this SEXY thread. :">
  18. www.bioware.com This spam deserves to be on the actual KOTOR boards; not the KOTOR2 boards. Thank you for you co-operation. Signed, The Board Police tm. P.S. *slobbers over pic*

  20. You son of a BLANK! You screwed up my hat trick!
  21. I can't remember them. It wans't long ago, I;d be asking<" There are different kinds of vbdieo cards? R00fles!"... I know that I used to have a GeForce Card. I currently have a Radeon 9200se... that will be destroyed come when I save money to prepare for NWN (end of August)...
  22. "Runaway, Syberia... It sucks... (Guess Fahrenheit with CD's too, but I have it on DVD so I can't tell of certain )" Then, thankfully, I haven't played those ones.
  23. Also, you don't have to swap to play games anymore once you've installed them... for the umpteenth time the 'swapping' argument is alreayd DEAD ON ARRIVAL.
  24. You got too close to her heart with your last post.
  25. Now, you are going to the other extreme.
