"Entry level contracts are capped in the 900k region." What's the NHL minimum salary? Is it 900k? If not, unproven rookies sure are getting a good deal.
-
It's not just the past; but the future. If we looked at just the past, then stars like Mesieer who mad elike 3-4 million (or even lower) in the last few years of his career instead of the 8-9 million he truly deserved if you go by past production of multiple 100 point seasons, multiple rings, the rep for being the best captain in sports history. Etc., etc. The past is important; but so is the future. Afterall, high picks in the draft get pretty good deals in their first season even thoguh they technically have done squat in the NHL. P.S. I'm not defending thd deal. I think the deal is bogus just based on the length not even counting the money. I think 15 years would eb bogus whether he was paid 1 mil per year or 8 mil per year. Like I said, too much can change in 15 years.

"So, US should attack some new country after Irak has been dealt with?" That's for them tod ecide. If they feel it's worth the risk, and they believe they have reason to feel threatened by said country enough to warrant an attack then they should so what they must. That goes for any country. I guarantee you if countries like Iran, or North Korea could attack the US and successfully beat them; they'd do it. In a heart beat. No questions asked. -

Don't be silly. You can't go attack every single enemey you have just because they may be a threat. You have to pick your targets intelloigently (of course, the US has made a lot of mistakes in their war's aftermath against Iraq; but that's another issue). Even as powerful as the US is, they aren't capable of successfully attacking a mass of countries like they did Iraq with a full ground war. Example: I have 20 people enemies I want to beat the crap out of them all. That doens't mean I'm gonna go start fights with all of them at the same time. That's just dumb. Now, one at a time, and I'm in a business to deal some hurt!!! -
15 years? That's way too long. A lot can happen in 15 years. Right now, DiPietreo is a good goalie. 5 years from now he may be the best and deserving of more money, or the worse deserving of less. Pooor deal by both other than it gives DiPietro some 'security' which means nothing when it comes to a sports contract.

Mononoke was a good movie. Not too preachy cosnideirng its subject matter either.

Bush uses 9/11 to Justify Iraq War
Volourn replied to 6 Foot Invisible Rabbit's topic in Way Off-Topic
"Al-Qaeda has never said they did it" Yes, they have. Multiple times. Heck, yesterday, they released a video where they were 'showing' Bin Laden interatcing with the 9/11 planners. Nice try though. As for Bush justifying the Iraq War through 9/11. Well... while Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 directly; it's more like 9/11 was a wake up call in that the US decided not to ignore their enemies any more. That's what happened to AQ. The US pretty much ignored them, and that's why they were able to make 9/11 happen. Now Saddam, an enemy of the US, will not have the power to ever orchastrate an attack on the US. Period. As far 'using 9/11' to justify stuff.. how about using 9/11 to try to justify attacking Bush or attacking the US for its 'evils'. LOLOLOLOLOLOLLIPOP -
Dorm Daze 2 - Whatever is all I gots to say.

Agreed. Ho was amusing at times; but he seemed to be overrated by more than a few JE fans. We get it. His wife, and him fight a lot. HAHAHA!

Hope for the future of KOTOR?
Volourn replied to KOTORFanactic's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
"Though saying that, if you go to Bioware's website today it says listed on it's games tab "new next gen game" which isn't Mass Effect or this multiplayer that is being mentioned." I would not be surprised if the unannounced next gen action RPG shown on the BIO site is atcually JE2. I seriously doubt it's KOTOR3. BIO simply doesn't want to make others' IPs, and if they do, I'm sure they're done with the KOTOR series. If they weren't, they'd have made KOTOR2. "Even so, I highly doubt it is, as they're working on Mass Effect, which is HUGE. Working on both that *and* Kotor III is... impossible. Well, unless you make both games mediocre." Why do people write this. BIO isn't your typical developer. FACT: Most devs are lucky to have 50 employees. FACT: BIO has around 300 employees; not to mention a partnership wih another deveoper, and financial backing from another group. FACT: Most devs can work on1-2 games just fine. FACT: BIO has worked, and continues to work on multiple games for a long while now. Afterall, they workd on BG2, NWN, and KOTOR (as well as expansions, and possibly even JE) at the same time (overlapped though). "Anyways what sort of combat is this "Jade Empire" JE has RT combat; but otherwise it's set up like KOTOR in terms of story, characters, and role-playing. I personally believe JE is even better than KOTOR; because it's combat is much more fun and challenging plus the characters are cooler, and choices aren't as black and white. KOTOR3 would be nice to have. I'd surely buy it; but it's nearly a given that BIO won't be developing it. It'll either be Obsidian, or someone entirely new. -
If you can get past some of the worst combat ever, and its inherent bugginess; you will find BL to be a great game. Fantastic dialogue (mostly), great characters, good role-playing, a decent story and an atmosphere second to none; BL is well worth playing.

"Good stuff and I hope that Elisha was over 18 when she made it or I am going to hell." Ms. Cuthbert is worth going to hell over. :">
-
"still have crap dialogue if I was Jamaican and couldn't read English. It's just bad." No. Anyone who thinks this doesn't know good dialogue. Sorry.
-
No. You are describing BG in comparison.
-
"This wasn't the case all across the game, but the dialogue quality frequently ranged between mediocre and unbearable crap." JE's dialogue is better than ANYTHING BIO has written before. Again, I point to the Orphanage Quest. Game over.
-
"There was nothing like that in Jade Empire." Maybe not. But, I'll take the Ghost Children In The Orphanage quest than some silly orc bestiality. I want quality mature stuff; not immature sheep screwing. Just a matter of taste. P.S. Plus, I thought we were discussing dialogue not over the top haha funny actions. OMG! That orc screwed a sheep! LOLOLOLOLLIPOP!! So deep!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Do you just find out what's the general opinion on a movie and then decide to go against it?" No. I believe it's just that I'm not a conformist. I like lots of movies that the 'majority' likes. V is NOT one of them for the reasons above. Perhaps, the problem is that you are too worried abouyt what others think and cna't make your own mind in what you like or dislike. I like what I like whether other people like it or not. Darth Moth: P.S. Just because I dislike a movie you personally love does not mean I personally attacked you, bub. Shocking, I know! P.S.S. And, it's not like I said the movie was completely horrible. I even wrote some things I liked about it. P.S.S. I didn't say I disliked it either. I said it was OVERRATED. HUGE difference.

FOBOS was a fun game. It was more challenging than either BGDA though the character system wasn't as good. Plus, it has b00bies which is always a plus in my book. FOBOS is severely undderated. People judge it wrong by comparing it to the FO RPG series which FOBOS is most certainly not trying to be. FO FOBOS GO! P.S. FOBOS is superior to FOT as FOT simply got boring, and uninteretsing. In essence, FOBOS was fun, FOT was not.

Really bad sign for games coming from Atari
Volourn replied to greylord's topic in Computer and Console
"I don't see why publishers even bother with copy protection. Its going to be broken by those who are determined to do so and it more often than not penalizes legitiment users. " As in everything, there is such thing as 'casual pirates'. These ar epeople who would only pirate if things were made so they were easy to steal. Afterall, we could argue, why use locks? if someone really wants to break into your house.. they will... lock, or no lock. They'll break a window, break the door down, etc., etc. This is the kinda behaviour Kanadians used to have. And, it explains why we had such a higher rate of 'break and enter' crimes than most coutnries including the US. Not sure now; the statistics may have changed.. ......... oo.. off topic.. kinda... P.S. On topic, Atari cna use anything they wnat. If potential customers don't like it they have two legit choices - suck it up, or don't buy it. -
Heh. True. The point was I never had to take to think of what my character would say. I knew 'instantly'. But, yeah, some dialogue lines do make you say 'what?", or 'no way', '....'!!!
-
"Its just that the Canadian Dollar has also increased in value." Hmm.. Good point about that. For soem reason, that fact slipped my mind. I think it's shock that anyone actually thinks the Kanadian Dollar has value outside of Kanada! L0LLERS! Still, I don't think prices are increasing all that much. P.S. Good point, again!

A lead designer on PNJ became a NWN2 forum mod.
Volourn replied to funcroc's topic in Obsidian General
"it fell short because of poor support and its unfinished form." I liked KOTOR2; but its biggest shortcomings were *not* poor support or it's 'unfinished form'. It sure felt finished to me. And, considering it had 2 patches, and KOTOR had 3; it's support (patch wise) wasn't bad. -
I've never tried the Dreamcast. I checked out the list of games it had, and I wasn't too impressed. Because, of that, I can't really say good or bad things about it except I heard a myth that it bombed big time.

I think not. In 2002, I bought NWN1 for about $90 Kanandian. In 2006, I bought NWN2 LE for about $75 Kanadian. This pattern holds true for the most part. Games, in my experience, are getting cheaper to buy. So, why is it the public perception, is that games ar egetting more expensive when on the whole it's actually the reverse? Espicially when inflation is taken into account. Is it because people automatically complain about price so they feel 'ripped off' and 'taken advantage of' by 'The Man tm'? And, then they add the 'games are more expensive now' to rub the salt on the wound. Anyways, NWN2 will rock!!!
