"Except for Vol and others who have mastered the knowledge of the exact moment they'll need spells of a particular type. Common sense just doesn't make sense to me, but I'm happy that Vol has the common sense to foresee the future. " You didn't read my actual post therefore remain ignorant. Please read it again, and then respond to me instead of posting silliness about 'foreseeing the future'. Again, it should be a very rare case where you go soemwhere that you will have NO idea what you are up against. Tsk, tsk. "Yes, but the amount of spells you can memorize is ridiculous in lower levels. You

"And where exactly is the strategy in memorizing spells for an area you haven't seen yet?" Common sense, intelligence, foethought, research, and the list goes on. The same way you should plan holidays, trips, and even going to the theatre. This is how I do it: 50% general use spells that almost always have some sort of usefulness in almost all situations 25% utility spells (this can overlap somewhat in the above) that ar emore sued to boost the catser or/and their group. 25% for potentially journey/target specifc spells that you memorize based off what your mission/goal is. ie. If your goal is to go fight a Big Bad Dragon memorize spells for that, if you are targeting an Fire Giant Chief memorize spells to help you fight them AND do research (in character if in pnp) to prep, if you are gonna enter a wizard tower or an abandoned mage school then prepare spells that cna help counter magic or fight/oppose mage oriented stuff ie. magic traps, golems, and whathave you. COMMON SENSE. COMMON SENSE. COMMON SENSE.

"The fun comes from playing the game instead of pondering over which spells to choose every 10 minutes. " Selecting your spells, and doing so intelligently is part of playing the game and is fun.

Modern pnp games tend to suck. Espicially comapred to the better, original ones. I'm all for progress but it's not progress when you plainly suck. D&D style memorization make for a cooler, more logical, and intelligent style of mage and spellcasting. I mean, studying is the key and elarning. Not innate like with 'mana'. L A M E

"I declare Volo the longest-running and most successful troll ever." The only troll here is you with your constant attempts (successful as I don't mind getting into it with trolls like you) to get a reaction from me like a typical troll. I'd prefer to disucss the actual thread topics not posters. Unlike you, it seems. "Speaking of falsehoods... The old DnD system is in fact one of the worst. Having to constantly rest is bad enough for a PnP game, but in a cRPG it is just ridiculous." Nonsense. The DnD system is plain, old and new fashion fun. Everything else is simply lame in comparison. I mean mana? LAME

"Bioware finally realized that they have had the same ~5 characters from KotOR onwards?" Falsehood. "Maybe Volo is an alt of some other guy?" Maybe. Maybe "he" isn't even really a "guy". Just sayin'... P.S. D&D style memorization sia wesome, and the absolute best way to do magic. Any other way is half as good. Plus, the D&D style also has the added benefit of making it clear that mages have to study and it's not just lame innate ability like other medthods. P.S.S. D&D technically use multiple methods of magic as options including 'mana style'.

How are those any more 'new' than other characters? *shrug*

"Well don't forget people that DA is a heroic fantasy game, so making a choice to kill people deliberately is not in the spectrum of what the game has to offer." Eh? You should be allowed to make that choice. But, like always, there should be consequences - both world spanning and personal. ie. Choice to allow the town to be destroyed cna lead to one or a handful of villagers surviving. They blame you, and one of them starts to work at destroying you for letting their town being sacrificed. ie. Choice to NOT sacrifice the town can lead to being kicked out of your order, being branded by extremists, losing party members who think you are a coward for not making the 'tough' choice to sacrifice the few for the many. Etc., etc. Either choice can lead to lots of interesting consequences. The idea to 'force' the player down either path is weak, and cowardly and can only hurt a game's role-playing.Let the player CHOOSE and then let them face the CONSEQUENCES. Duh.
-
"So it's only an RPG if you get to be hero and every wave of your hand redeems a thousand souls and never have to do anything that has (negative) consequences for you?" Who said that? I certainly didn't. Don't make stuff, and stop being intellectually dishonest in your posts. I wrote: "And, it's a RPG, so you should be able to refuse.. and, there should eb cosnequences"
-
"The point would be not having a choice. The leaders come up with the plan and you have to execute it. You choose which people die, neither less deserving life than the other." That's illogical. The leaders make the chocie but you choose who lives and dies? You can't have it both ways. And, it's a RPG, so you should be able to refuse.. and, there should eb cosnequences... ie. getting thrown out of the order. (which won't happen).

Americans set to get standardised/universal healthcare
Volourn replied to Humodour's topic in Way Off-Topic
There should be both a public and private option. And, taxes involved should be reasonable. Of course, that's eaiser said than done. I'm not a big fan of government 'stealing' people's ahrd earned money but I'm also not a fan of allowing people to die when they could be saved, either... -
That be cool. I don't know if I'd choose the option. I don't like the idea of making the active chocie to allow people to die. probably why I couldn't be a ruler. R00fles!

"This thread is misleading. Bioware hasn't created a new character since KotOR. " Every character they created is new. No two characters are exactly the same. Period. Being similar does not mean same.

"The 360 is the loudest console I've ever heard." This is actually true for me too.. yet, it's still not that loud. When I'm playing the console, the sound of the tv easily drowns it out and it doesn't bother me. However, the PC is loud, and I can crank the speaker volume to drown it out. Thankfully, my computer isn't in my bedroom or I wouldn't get any sleep (unless I were to shut it off).
-
"Yeah, did you see all these people saying how quiet it is just a few posts ago?" Their experience isn't mind. the 360 isn't thyat loud for me. And, I'm sure that's true for many people. The PC, on the other hand, is loud.
-
Except, it's not loud.

"I'd say that he's 'wrong', lying requires that you know the truth and intentionally saying the opposite." Except he knows the truth as claims to believe I'ma fanboy and he says he knows this by reaidng my posts. if this is true, he has had to read at least one negative BIO post from me. They arne't that hard to find. " Of course, rating ONE game 75 % in a catalogue as comprehensive as theirs is, is hardly conclusive proof that he is, in fact, even 'wrong'. " Actually, it is. He claims I believe BIO is PERFECT. If I believed BIO was perfect, I would rate everything they do 100%? Right? Since anything less than 100% is, by defintion, not perfect. Therefore he is absolutely 100% wrong in his assessment that I believe BIO is perfect. GAME OVER.
-
360 isn't that loud. The PC, on the other hand, is annoyingly so. I haven't even tried the PS3 once so I can't compare.
-
You do sound like a lawyer. I like alwyers but don't be silly. You make it sound impossible for one to lie. That simply isn't true. In this case... he claims that I believe BIO is perfect. Yet, I have rated a previous game of theirs 75%. So... one of us is lying here. There is no inbetween.

If someone dislikes combat they probbaly shouldn't bother playing DA as it'll have lots of combat. Or at least play it on easy. ALL RPGs have lots of combat. Not one exception.

"Maybe it's just me, but the use of 'lying' and 'unfair' on a video game board tend to make me think that the author of that particular post is 12, if not younger. Could possibly be a professional bias most lawyers have against the two terms, we kind of dance around them, even if they are pretty central in our work. " Well.. when someone accuses another fo soemthing blatantly not true what else would you call it? "And that just killed the little of credibility your post had. I think everybody here knows who the troll is." You accuse me falsely of things blatantly untrue and I lack credibility? False accusations are often made to get negative reaction that is why youa re tolling. By claiming that am a BIO 'fanboy' who believes they are perfect you are obviously trolling for me to negatively reaction hence trolling. "If that is so, then sorry. " 'Apology' unaccepted as you didn't mean it as evidenced by your fruther insitigation. "I haven't seen a single one of those though." How convient. You notice all my pro BIO stuff but not my negative stuff? It's like you made up your mind what my stance is and only the 'evidence' that backs up your belief is what you retain. Come on, now. This is why I feel you are lying. There's no way that you cna read enough of someone's post to make a lie that they are a 'fanboy' yet never see even one post that counters that. Bottom line is I can post at least half a dozen things within seconds that i dslike about DA. And, i've posted them. I'm sure you read them, and ignored them. *shrug* BACK ON TOPIC: ME2 will be fun. 'Nough said.
