Neverwinter Nights Premium Modules Pulled Down
Volourn replied to ramza's topic in Computer and Console
Atari having a tantrum that BIO decided to make DA instead of NWN2, and passed on BG3. R00fles! -
Interplay *was* BIS. Interplay developed them. All BIS was was the finally named RPG division of Interplay. But, same company. At least in EA BIO's case, at least there's the argument they were a seperate company and were simply. And, at least for now, for the most part, they are still largely their own beast. But, with major EA taint.
-
"1) EA are the publisher, not the developer. Who cares who the publisher is?" The pubisher, and developer are basiclaly the same. EA *is* BIO. They didn't simply hire BIO like many pub-dev relationships; but they are the, in essence, the same company. You should be blaming (or praising) both.

"Clearly you are going to defend this design choice until you are blue in the face, even in the face of a superior stance as usual when in comes to the all knowing bioware. Typical." Is that the best you got? A flat out lie? Typical. There are plenty of things to criticize DA for. And, I have. *shrug* The tatics is fine. Just deal with it or play another game.
-
There already is a happy middle ground. Just use the 'tatics' for 'heal self if you have less than x health', attack enemy, and that gives you two extra slots ot get fancy with just the basic tatics set up. *shrug* More than enough. Also, use one of those extra slots to quick spam at least one stun attack, and maybe 1 mass damage spell for mages.

Ahh... Accoridng to those charts linked to, I should have some enchantable weapons...
-
Meant tier 4. I'm getting solid loot so that's not the problem. Just no enchantable ones. BOOO!

"Art: the quality, production, expression, or realm, according to aesthetic principles, of what is beautiful, appealing, or of more than ordinary significance. Anything creative is art. " That definition is lame, and the wussie's way out. I prefer the TRUE defintion of art as the one above is so fake, and this short line explains why: 'Anything creative is art' If you can use a word to basically describe 99% of the world, it's 100% useless. The meaning is meaningless. By thatd efintion my crap can be 'art'. LMAO
-
"I had a whole bunch of them by then. Now (at level 12) I'm just tossing them left and right, it's multiple enchantment slots or bust." Meh. I'm gettings crewed for some reason. Hope it's not some sort of lame bug.
-
Not if it worked. Nope. The overreaction to it by a vocal few? Yup.

"So far, the marketing have blatantly misrepresented the game." No, it isn't.The marketing was right on. The issue is that the marketing and the game can come across differently to different people. The marketing was a multiple angle blitz. And, it was presumably fantastic (guess we will find out for sure how successful it is when the sales numbers come in, though). The worse thing one can say about the marketing for DA is that it was all over the place; but for the most part, it's pretty accurate.

I'm level 8, and deep in the SPOILER SPOILER. Got tons of stuff including fancy tier 8 crapola + runes. Enchantable equipment must be very rare.
-
That's true. Sometimes the AI does things better than me. L0L
-
Well.. what type of weapons and stuff then? I have all sorts and yet nothing available to enchant on his enchanting screen? I'm not talking about crafting stuff as that's eaisly done by you. I'm talking enchantments.
-
"AI but unlike other CRPG games labled it as a 'feature' of being 'tactical' and the sheep bought it." L0LZ WAAA! 'Everyone who is positive must be a sheep'. There are thinsg to complain about DA, and this isn't one of them. Anyone who tries to use the AI tatics thing is missing teh point. It's the same as those who used AI tatics in BG. The game is meant to be played by the player NOT the AI. Control your characters, all of them. Those tatics are for the lazy. Why do you want the AI to do all the work, anyways? On top of this, the AI is fine. It does EXACTLY what YOu tell it to do.
-
I don't get why someone who has absolutely no interetsing in buying or playing a game would waste time in threads dedicated to it. It's illogical, and just waste a time. Better off going to experience something you 'enjoy'.
-
How does one get enchantments? I try to get the goof in camp to do it; but all i Get is a 'you have no items that cna be enchanted' screen... I got weapons, armours, and enchantment stuff as well as moolah...

"Other notables include Men of War, Company of Heroes, Uncharted 2, Battlefield 2 & 2142, Operation Darkness, Valkyria Chronicles, Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway, OFP: Dragon Rising, God Hand, Kane & Lynch, the Devil May Cry series, and Mount & Blade." Man. What a crappy list of games. L0L

"Having the option to buy it, after you've heard the salesmans -ahem- the npc's pitch is trickery," What you call trickery. Is called effective marketing. World of gaming is competitive so you you gotta come up with creative ways to market your product. Calling it trickery eludes to some sneaky, unethical underhandedness to get money for no reason. Like always, you pay x dollars you get y in return. Seems fair to me. "2) What happens like 5 or 10 years from now, when EA decided to shut down the servers for this game? (they'd done it before, I think?" This is an issue, of course. It's also why I personally avoid online purchases - espicially DLC - as much as possible. I like to 'own' what I buy. It's why I NEVER use steam.
-
Meh. Art is art. I don't remember ever being taught movies, or games in Art Class.
-
Sure, I can. But, those are likely the same people who are freaking out, anyways. And, it's basically them wanting more content but not having to pay for it. btw, I have not bought Warden's Keep. Therefore, I do not deserve, nor expect to get the things you bought. ie. We are both apartment searching. Stuff is being advertised as just rent, inclusive of hydro, and inclusive of everything (hydro, phone,c able, and internet). The last will cost extra, but in the long run likely save you money. I get the apartment with just rent. You get the one with inclusive of everything. It costs you, say, $75 more. But, you get more. I have no right to complain.

"And in BG2 I didn't have to micromanage my party as I do in DA I could macromanage it and be fine. " I don't believe you. And, since you are making stuff up now, I cna't take your posts seriously anymore. "I'd love to hear where/who Ron Moore 'ripped off' klingons from? Please post specifics." No. YOU be speciifc. All you claimed that DA dwarves are ripped off from klingons even thoguh, they are more likely to be 'ripped off' from other stuff like D&D dwarves, D&D drow (though not neccessarily as evil), or heck any race/culture/group ever created that has heavy cutthroat level of politics. Heck, that's any thing dealing with politics INCLUDING HUMANS. On top of this, time and time again, klingons are often referred to the SCI FI/STAR TREK version of dwarves - espciially when TNG starting making them more well rounded instead of just villains like they were originally. So, this mythical myth that you spout that DA dwarves are just klingons is absed on nothing - asevidenced by you giving no evidence that they are based off klingons instead of any other war like race with violent politics but with a streak of honour. Heck, that's a stereotypically used racisl trope in both fantasy and sci fi.
-
Well.. You pay for soemthing, you should get something... right? If you got nothing wortwhile from purchasing DLC why would you buy it in the first place?
-
Becuase BIO is not intimidated by some crybabies on the internetz, because their fanbase is more than just the couple of epople who spam non stop. Losing a handful of customers over small things or incosnequential things is simply irrelevant to BIO - espicially since most of the complainers are 'hardcore' punks whoa re gonna buy the BIO games releaased anyways. Quite frnakly, he was too polite.
-
"You really should know your facts before you go into your default 'bioware can do no wrong' mode. You really sound totally ignorant when you say something like this. Call me timeline challenged but... I am pretty sure when Ron Moore wrote in depth how the klingon society works for ST:TNG in the early 90s that predates DA by almost 20 years. Just saying. Read the ST lore of klingons then read the DA dwarfs... pretty much a carbon copy minus the race hight and starships." And, DA's dwarves (and klingons) ar e'rip offs of other races includingversions of fantasy dwarves. there is NOTHJING original about klingons 9I still love them, thoguh). to claim that DA dwarves are ripped off from klingons is nonsense. If anything DA dwarves are basically your typical fantasy dwarf with harsh politics. Not original, and not based off klingons. And, the one with tunnel vision here is you since your way is the 'right' way. "Bioware in effect, by design, FORCES players to micromanage. Thats the issue and point of contention. Some of us use want to macro manage the party, not micro. " Tough. DA is supposed to be 'spirtual successor' to BG2 which was all about micromanaging your party. And, just like DA, it gave a limited way of aiding the AI but ultimiately micromanaging is always the better option. And, it always will be.
