Combat readability analysis - graphics
Quantics replied to Justinian's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
Josh Sawyer was playing with blue selection circles yesterday, so if he is colour-blind then I understand how he could be happy, yes -
I remember reading somewhere on these forums that JS is not a fan of swords in RPGs.

Combat readability analysis - graphics
Quantics replied to Justinian's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
I'm not asking for a complete overhaul. The graphics in general look amazing (IMO). For me the only thing that should be done is to make the characters more opaque/less saturated. I'm guessing that there is some kind of filter for this that could be easily tweaked with (hopefully). But since Obsidian is not communicating on this issue I guess we can't know for sure. -
Bear in mind that these changes are not necessarily final. Maybe Sawyer was just messing with stats his own build.

Also bumping this thread. I was watching the live stream tonight and (at least in the dungeon) both creatures and party member were looking so incredibly dull/pale/transparent. Don't get me wrong, the models looked great, but the colors are (still) completely washed out, and characters and creatures alike seem to almost blend in the environment. See the screenshots below: I and a few others have mentioned it several times on these boards but it appears OE has completely ignored this issue. It is a shame as it makes the game much less appealing to the eye, whereas it could be that it's only a matter of tweaking some filters (i may be wrong though?). Personally it's definitely one of my major pet peeves with the game so far. Here's to hoping it finally gets acknowledged by the devs, PS: for some reason the problem was much more apparent indoors than outdoors (?). -

Update #88: Final Sprint and... Release Date!
Quantics replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
I don't own the beta, but remember from old vids toggling between several varieties of the same portrait before a new popped up. Which would be extrememly annoying in the end looking for one you want.Is that still the case or is there a better system added of browsing through portraits, and the variations being a seperate step (or button or something) to make it flow just that much better? Especially good to have the more portraits get added. And unlike some I do prefer more unique than more variations... Yes scrolling over portraits has always been tedious. I know it's not the way IE games used to do it, BUT. Wouldn't it be easier if clicking the portrait would bring up a menu like this: Surely that could be coded in easily, no? -
GoG or Steam ?

Didn't know any of those. Thanks -
The PE IE Mod Thread - Draggable UI Now Available!
Quantics replied to Sensuki's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
Same thing happened to me. I also had to reload the game entirely to make the UI mod work. -
[333][OSX] Menu bar and dock still appear in full screen
Quantics replied to Quantics's question in Backer Beta Bugs and Support
I know, and I had reported it here first (hence the bump) I replied to AB saying that it seems Unity supports 'dockless' fullscreen mode on OSX. -

BUMP It's really difficult to play with the dock popping up every time I want to move the map. -

The PE IE Mod Thread - Draggable UI Now Available!
Quantics replied to Sensuki's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
Just so you know, Bester has patched the OSX dll file without going through any UNIX/WINDOWS code differences and see if it works out of the box. And it all seems to work fine ... except for the draggable UI. I could see the custom buttons using the console, but they did not do anything. I suggested to Bester that he doesn't try to fix it before the game is released though (not sure he intended to anyway ) as things might still change quite a bit UI-wise (hopefully). -

Amazing! Here is a link to my Assembly dll (OSX): https://www.dropbox.com/s/otdby7pil8ipv4a/Assembly-CSharp.dll?dl=0 It would be great if you could give it a try -
[392] Prio Issues for Obsidian to Fix
Quantics replied to IndiraLightfoot's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
Yeah I couldn't care less about a KS/backer update personally. Fix the game instead. Lots of good suggestions in this thread. -
*looks at calendar* Are we there yet? Josh Sawyer just posted this on twitter:
-
Hi devs, has the Unity update gone through smoothly?
-
Congratulations you have just won this thread.

Totally agree with you sensuki. Shared health pool makes absolutely no sense. I'm really not enjoying that class.

The game is definitely enjoyable on Normal. I couldn't play the previous build as it wasn't available on OSX, but with v392 for the first time I feel I have some control over combat. Medreth was reasonably easy, so were Lions and beetles. Beating the Feral druids, however was another story. Had to give them several tries. I haven't tried other difficulty settings though.

Yeah that would be nice indeed. Or: buy a frikkin mouse !
