  1. I like dungeons ... in moderation. Whether big castles, long caverns, old ruins. Wide open spaces are fun for roaming and exploring, but dungeons can give a sense of claustrophobia and "what's around the corner" too. Plus different combat tactics. Or more simply, I like variety. That said, stuff like Legends of Grimrock are fun in short bursts, but they're not something I want to play long term. Probably why I preferred Doom over Wolfenstein (the originals, I mean). Doom at least had some variety in looks/design vs. only those same-y corridors and doors.
  2. Our small bathroom is horribly laid out, just like our kitchen. Makes it difficult to consider how to give it a facelift. This whole house is bizarre. Still feeling "blah" ... watching hubby play one of his other chrs. in BL2, because I can't be arsed to play with him today. He found 2 Legendary assault rifles just now ... two. Crazy random luck.
  3. Where did I say that active lobbying to have it in P.E. would continue? It was just my semi-humorous guess that, if someone who hasn't seen such an announcement (that happens) were to post something, it might run into the general debate over whether romance in video games is good/bad additive/restrictive etc. That's a rather universal topic, not just about P.E.
  4. What an awesome pic of a jumping spider. I keep staring at the eyes and wondering what the reflection is from.
  5. Based on the way the internet/game forums tend to work ... not much would cease. The debate would probably just shift direction ... if/whenever the topic came up again. It's not a debate that is confined to a single game, really. Course, I'm a cynical old bat.
  6. I'm completely unskilled at math, but I'm very good at not sleeping and having nothing to show for it other than bleary, bloodshot eyes and the knowledge that there are exactly 11 white spackled spots on the far wall of this room. I think today I should plan/prepare for some house painting. The dark purple bathroom really needs to go.... I much prefer boring ol' beige or something.
  7. Bambie is eye-candy to me and not much more. He doesn't have a whole lot to do most of the time outside of a lot of reaction shots. The reporter woman definitely falls flat. The priest amuses me in that "King mini-series always has an over the top ranter role" type of way. For some reason he brought to mind Kareem Abdul-Jabbar hollering "Bring out your dead!" in The Stand.
  8. I feel like I should restate (since there's some new people in the debate, I think) that I'm neither anti nor pro romance. I'm not big on romance stories in general (film, books, whatever), but now and then there will be one that I do like. When it comes to games, generally speaking, it doesn't even cross my mind. I don't start a story-RPG thinking "I wonder if there will be any romance plots," and if there are none, I don't end the game thinking "I wish there had been romance plots." It just isn't part of my general thought process at all. But if there is one, and it resonated with me personally, I'll go "well that was nice." It's rare that I feel connected to game characters to the point where I want to romance one or play match-maker for some. And when I do feel that connected, often I eventually realize that what it was that attracted me to the chr./situation would make a romance plot (within the game) go against the nature of what appealed to me about that chr. in the first place. That's because of what personally attracts me, of course, but I use it as an example of why I'm fairly ambivalent about romance options in games. That all said, from what I've seen/known in their games, if anyone could make a romance plot resonate for me personally, it'd probably be Obsidian. I still don't expect to see it in P.E., tho.
  9. Every time I see that interview quote, I can hear Chris speaking it in my mind. And I chuckle. ...plus I like that he thinks unrequited/doomed relationships are more dramatic, because (obviously) I also think that way. More dramatic, more interesting, and more potentially resonant than "meet, bicker, misunderstanding, makeup, marry, house, kids." I tend to prefer ambiguous vs. well defined. I don't always want to know how it works out (my imagination can do that for me). ...but I'm really not expecting (main chr/companion) romance in P.E. I could be wrong of course, but eh ... even if there's something, I doubt it'd be very comprehensive. Hints and a few bylines maybe.
  10. Under the Dome - the crazy kidnapping man-child is a horrible character. Or the actor is a horrible actor. Or maybe both. He needs to die. Loved the very very end of this episode tho ... could see it coming a mile away, but Dean Norris made it fun.
  11. Finally upgraded my Firefox to version 20 (I was still on 12 ), which was the last one I downloaded. I'm not ready to try 22, from what I read around the 'net. 20 seems upgrade enough for now, "looks/feels" the same GUI wise and my addons all still work with it. Uses a bit less memory and makes the Neverwinter Gateway site smoother, which was the main thing I was hoping for. ...yeah, I'm slow about these things. Everyone does updates so fast now tho ... feels like as soon as you D/L a new version, they have another one. I can't keep up. If it ain't broke...
  12. I love that .gif. I wouldn't say I find him super attractive, but Ryan Reynolds can definitely be adorable/funny with some of his expressions. ...felt kinda grey-blah today. It's just going to be one of those blah weeks I guess. Blahblahblah.
  13. I resisted the sales...most didn't have any cats, so it wasn't too difficult. Yeah, it's annoying (the c+ stuff too) largely because it seems unnecessary most of the time ... or if they are doing any checks, that they take so long.
  14. You guys are so funny. And I mean that in the best way.
  15. The Bay (2011) First, it's directed by Barry Levinson, who also directed Rain Man, Wag the Dog, and a host of others. Which makes you go "huh?" Second, it's not really a horror movie so much as an ecological disaster/warning movie with horror elements. The found-footage aspect of the film doesn't annoy too much, however, because it's not teens running around with a camera shooting at their feet, but mostly pretend news footage, with occasional home video stuff. And it has a survivor chr. narrating missing info as the footage is shown. So has more of a documentary feel than a "Blair Witch" or "Chronicle" feel. But it's a weird movie, and I don't think it really succeeds at doing whatever it wanted to do. It's certainly not frightening.
  16. Only the Genesis device can make a garden large enough for an apocalypse.
  17. That's a nice garden. We have the yard space that could be used kinda like that (edged garden areas) but at the moment if we built some, they'd just get used as litter boxes (my cat and the 5zillion neighbor cats) so I have no interest in trying to grow anything at exposed ground level. But I'd love a small greenhouse for growing a few things almost year round. Cabbages, tomatoes, onions, strawberries, jalapeno's, long string beans etc.
  18. As long as you're both legal age I don't see any serious issue. That said, for me personally, I do tend to find it kinda weird when one is, oh say, 75 and the other is 25. And as Hurlshot said, even outside of how mature they may seem/behave, sometimes if the other is below 20ish, they may not really know what they want yet (compared to the one who is a fair bit older), either from life or from relationships, and thus the couple may find themselves growing apart rather fast. But that can also happen to any couple, so I don't see it as a reason to not try.
  19. Played games. Ate pizza. Took care of/coddled a sick cat (Mr. Grey, outside kitty, seems to have a bad cold or something ) Watched the Red Sox beat the Yankees after 11 innings. Now watching a bad movie. All in all, a pleasant Sunday.
  20. Currently watching "Metal Tornado." Where these people ... ...stand around in control room with dramatic expressions while in the outside world, people are terrified by tornadoes with magnetic properties. Pulling guns out of holsters, pulling cars off the ground etc. in awesome CGI scenes! ...mostly, between occasional guffaws, I keep thinking ... Greg Evigan? Lou Diamond Phillips? Grab that paycheck! Good for them.
  21. Not a MMO but online - Diablo2/Diablo3 releases, anyone? Hahahaha. They often do that ... underestimate the load. Either that or tech problems in general. Even NW:online has mild issues still, during peak times. Mostly with connecting to their servers or getting bumped off. Must be difficult because you don't want to spend more than really needed on servers/techs etc. but that likely sometimes means you end up with problems at peak times or during unexpected sudden surges. And you don't know if the increased load will remain long enough to be worth spending more.
  22. Was bored, so ordered Showtime, because they have a few original series I've been wanting to check out (not Dexter, seen that before on DVDs). First few episodes of Shameless (the US version). It wasn't quite what I was expecting ... I thought it was going to be broader comedy ... but it seems pretty decent. I love William H. Macy and the rest of the cast are mostly good, especially the two older sons. They have every episode available VoD so guess we'll be watching a couple a night for a while. The original (UK?) series has been on Netflix too, I might watch it later.
  23. Thanks for all the notes about the "cards." Much clearer. I don't think I'd be personally interested at all, but it's still interesting. For some reason, my Steam isn't doing this, but my husband's is. We both D/L the BL2 DLC at the same time, and Steam seemed to do some updating then. Later when we actually played the DLC, hub's PC/Steam downloaded something (offline mode). But mine hasn't. It does say "Downloads disabled" in the offline mode greet screen now, I don't think it did before. We can still play BL2 together so there doesn't seem to be any version conflict. It's odd that mine hasn't done anything tho...wonder why. I don't have Steam set to run on bootup (edit: nvm, thinking of something else disabled it in msconfig actually) and I have the "Enable Steam Community-In-Game" option unchecked...but I'm pretty sure I did the latter on hubby's Steam too (because it seemed to get around the issue of Steam not really wanting to allow offline mode at all that occurred to me recently). And all that's just to say ... I don't like it either. They really seem to be desirous of moving away from having offline mode be a ... viable? useful? ... option. Even if the games don't require being online just to run, eventually Steam itself might. Bah.
  24. At this point I just find it easier to take those hundreds of thousands of AD's I can make and sell them for Zen. One wonders, however, if there will come a point where hardly anyone is buying Zen for people to buy. Still probably some months away before that happens to a game-stopping point, I bet. Hopefully by then I'll have lots of Zen stocked up for whenever they push out new kitty things, haha. In 2-3 weeks I'll finally get to see what 8 chrs. all firmly concentrating on bringing in as much AD as possible can really do. Depends partially on markets and how dedicated I am. The last being the biggest factor.
