  1. Tomato paste and strong sweet doesn't work for me. I don't even like basil that much (a little, but not a lot). I remember once, as a teen, making some spaghetti for this bf of mine. He took some bites and his lip started to curl. I was all "what?" His mom came home and she laughed...said she'd always made spaghetti for him with canned tomato soup as a base or something, and I was "oh.....gross."
  2. it's been cool and rainy. Not cold, mind you. Just coolish because of the rain, enough to make (wimpy) Mr. Black sit hopefully by the wall heater all day long. In our current house Springtime is nice because all the trees get their leaves again and I can better fantasize that we have no neighbors. I really prefer evergreen trees. Dinner and curl up to watch Walking Dead ... then, uh ... I don't know. Feels like an early-bedtime day.
  3. The only thing that sounds weird on that pizza is the banana. Well, and anchovies, but that's just because I hate those things - being salty however, doesn't seem like it would not go with the rest, if you do like them. The sweet of the banana's wouldn't work for me, tho. Ham could still work, as long as it's not a super-candied ham. Garlic, bacon and mushroom is an awesome pizza all by itself (also, a great omelet...). I prefer pizza to have more than just mozzarella on it, but I don't like pizzas that have a super-thick layer of cheese. Especially if it's only mozzarella, because then it has the texture of eating melted rubber tires. I like mozzarella/cheddar/provolone combos (thin layer) or something like that.
  4. "The Killing Room" (2009) So that's where Timothy Hutton went. (*Google* - I haven't seen Leverage series, maybe I should someday). ... and outside of America's Got Talent, I had no idea who Nick Cannon was. He doesn't do too badly in this film, for the type of film, I mean. Not a great movie or anything but at least it tries for something a bit more interesting. Plus for some reason I like "strangers in a closed room" type horror/suspense tales so it was watchable to me.
  5. I think I'll wait for the man-eating-but-still-cutely-chases-butterflies-tiger simulator.
  6. Saw that button. Didn't help. WoW/Starcraft never on this O/S install. It was even giving me trouble just uninstalling the game. That borked "optimization" step seemed to mess stuff up. At any rate, I'm sure I could figure it out eventually, but having only a vague curiosity interest in the expansion (I hadn't bought the expansion yet, btw - good thing), it's just not worth spending hours and hours on for me. It's all deleted now. Heheh. Ended up not playing Banished either - I haven't for a couple days actually, besides glancing at a few map seeds. I keep staring at a map and thinking about what I'd do with it, but can't quite motivate to start. Yet ... I've had two dreams related to the game this week. Like my mind has to purge itself of all these city-design/metanumber crunching info/ideas before I can dive in again. Scary.
  7. Everything is best over charcoal. Gas is ok/works, but it's not BBQ.
  8. Uninstalled. Fresh Battle.net launcher installed. Click Options/Install D3. Pause it while doing something else for a minute. Says it'll even save my place if I exit the launcher. Cool. Finish what I'm doing. Unpause. Greyed out message in the download progress bar: "Waiting on another installation or update" .... forever. B.net can [ bleepbleepbleepitybleep ]. Good idea.
  9. Oh for crying out loud. Closed the window. This time when I clicked the D3 shortcut instead of telling me it has to "optimize" it tells me it's installing battle.net beta launcher, then promptly gets stuck at 64% install. Screw this noise...maybe I'll uninstall everything first and try it that way.
  10. Everything but the Parental Control option is currently greyed out, I assume because it's "optimizing". So I can't change anything. (the new app launcher is not actually installed yet). Also, it's now stuck at 47.5% for ages....with the "Please don't close this window" warning text staring me in the face. If I close launcher/restart, will it...start all over? ... sigh.
  11. Rick could use a new chr. arc, because everything out of his mouth is becoming too much of a broken record at this point, kinda like how I felt about Dale. As to the show finale rumination: based on the teaser trailers and comic knowledge
  12. I've always wanted to build a small "duck pond" in my backyard/s, so I can have some ducks swimming around in them. I could take up half the yard with it, build a serious oasis ... then maybe someday the migrating geese might notice it and take a migration break in my yard, too. Course, then I'd have to clean up all the goose-poop. And chase the racoons away from bathing in it all the time.
  13. Thinking about getting D3's expansion and looking at it, but at the rate it's downloading and doing stuff, I may end up doing that (the actual playing) tomorrow. Or on Monday. My patience for downloading mega GB's worth of files every time I want to play a game gets smaller and smaller. No my internet is not super slow. But the GB's keep getting bigger and bigger...
  14. So I realized today that the expansion is officially out now. Figured I'd download any patches first (it's been a long long time) then buy the expansion and download it. "Optimizing Game" ... does that equal a new company-speak to say "downloading/installing patches?" I hope so...since I don't really need b.net to defrag my software for me. Also, it says it's going to update the launcher to Desktop App when I next run D3. I assume that's just a new personalized Steam-like thingie or something (universal launcher not just a D3 launcher)?
  15. So that's why the guys in white suits showed up at my door those times. I like day night cycles as long as they're not too rapid ... if it's a rpg where I'm supposed to be running around a town/forest and everyone is acting as if time is passing/there's a time clock ("A dragon roasted our town yesterday!" "This potion effect lasts 10 hours"), if there's no period of darkness, I'm going to expect to look up into the sky and see four suns or 10 moons or something. Otherwise it starts to feel weird and unnatural, even if it is just a game. I'm too trained to expect dark or light as time passes, I suppose.
  16. I have the sneaking suspicion that Joey/whatever his name is actually did the rabbit trick himself. Took it from the guy's bag and put it in Daryl's bag then waited for the spark to fly. I don't have any proof of this, it's only a suspicion based on how much effort "Joey" seems to be putting into manipulating and trying to convince Daryl they're two of a kind. I think something pretty darn bad is going to happen to Rick/Carl. The religious angle - I have suspicions on that too, but don't want to speculate. The show likes its red herrings far too much.
  17. I think I've been pretty clear in past posts that I don't find Early Access generally appealing at this point, either. I don't have anything against the concept itself - but I don't typically want to spend on it personally. It'd have to be something I've done a lot of research on and know it already has more than a 20 minute playable pre-pre-pre-pre-alpha build. Also, the search-results thing.
  18. Still Banished, just less and less hours. Mostly been looking at what feels like a zillion map seeds, making notes of the ones that look interesting to try at some point. Most of them suck...random map generators can be irritating at times. Also created a chr. in South Park and then started the tutorial elf fight. Then got glitched and couldn't finish the elf fight, so I quit and will reload it tomorrow. No idea if I'll get very far in the game and the movement/control feels really wonky, but figured I may as well try it at least....a couple lines have made me giggle so far.
  19. So, can I actually get a kitty-kat?
  20. I missed noticing that video when posted. Hilarious, especially the difference of asking the ladies vs. asking the men. I'm not sure how I'd react to a random stranger question like that ... I mean, rationally I'm fine with the concept, but actual surprised first-reaction would probably go "lulwut? no" even if it was one of my favorite male actors standing there.
  21. That's the one I was going to mention. For some reason I really liked it, although I liked the first half more than the 2nd half. And like Malcador, I'd also say skip Zoe's Tale. Haven't read much of anything recently, so I doubt I'd know of something Tale hasn't at least heard of before, and for TV/movies ... well, I haven't been very keen on such lately. I still watch a fair bit at times, but with a growing sense of generational alienation. Or just grumpiness.
  22. The only TMNT I remember watching was the late 80's cartoon. Which was kinda cute, but I didn't see much of it. But just enough to remember that silly theme song and to dislike the newer ways of drawing them.
  23. I saw that recent Jason Statham movie, Homefront. It was .... a Jason Statham movie. I was a little disappointed that James Franco wasn't actually the true "bad guy" - more like the idiotic local yoohoo who thinks he'll profit from bringing in some (non-local) badguys to pester Jason. Also ... Winona Ryder? Really? Interesting. St. Elmo's Fire yw not a direct sequel, but a 'spiritual' one It's not written or directed by John Hughes. Despite having some of the same actors, I don't even consider it a spiritual sequel ... I barely remember it, actually. I don't think I thought it was awful, but it didn't have much impact on me either.
