I figured it out... Why RPGs seem to be going down hill.
I haven't seen many zombie apoc. rpg's. More like action/sandboxes. Maybe not entirely on-topic, but I feel as if a small part of the issue is that these days it seems like "everything" is an rpg. That is, people are calling all kinds of games rpg's that I would never. The term is becoming so all-encompassing as to be almost meaningless....

STEAM!
I have no idea what gems/auctions are, but I'm not seeing any big Steam sale yet.

The last physical game you ever bought
Since I mostly get games from Steam or Gog now, it's all digital for me. I wouldn't say I prefer it, but I don't really mind anymore. And I must admit, I like not having to have a CD/DVD spinning madly away in the drive. I still miss the paper manuals (when they were more than a leaflet, I mean) for some types of games. Printing out a pdf just doesn't feel the same.

Movies you've seen recently
Guardians of the Galaxy. I liked it. Just the right amount of snark and irreverent humor + comic-y action fun with almost zero superhero angst. And the soundtrack of songs was da awesome. Racoon-guy was hilarious.

What you did today
I think I hate airports even more than flying. No investment made this time, but eventually. Which means more trips and icky airports in the future, probably for a while. Lucky me. Ordered some jerky before I left, am hoping it shows up this afternoon because I'm really jonesing for some jerky. Today I'm going to catch up on gaming, because it's what I do when I'm not pretending to be an productive adult.

SOPA 2
"Communications" is rather vague. Are there any limits, or is it just a blanket "everything that can be used to communicate that leaves a trace." ...not to say I like the loss of privacy-principle as tech grows and grows, but I'm pretty resigned to it. I do what I can (no smartphone, FF addons, minimize/be careful what I do/reveal blahblah) but, yeah. And the cameras, everywhere the cameras. Tempted to lift my shirt and raise a finger when I approach ATM's. Give them a show in case they ever view the footage, why not.

Giddy
LadyCrimson replied to ojthesimpson's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Yeah, I know there's no spoilers per se, but what I personally mean is I don't want to feel like I'm familiar with the game before I play the full game, if that makes sense. It's not just about plot/npc reveals - I like the sense of new-game discovery to be a more total experience the first time I play. But I do like to take a peek in and see how the graphics/UI etc. look, from time to time.

What are you playing now?
New alpha of 7DtD! ... I like candles. And cobblestone blocks. And they supposedly fixed the heatmap activating (causes periodic zombie horde activity) even when spawns are disabled. Yay. Sadly, I don't have time to play it much right now. Soon as I get back tho, I'll be marathoning it some more. Digdigdigdigdig.

You could always drink Ensure. Although as pricey as that sort of stuff tends to be, it's probably not much cheaper, haha. But I know what you mean. Eating is inconvenient at times.

What you did today
I have to travel this weekend. I hate flying but driving takes too long for this sort of trip (investment related stuff). Blargh. Is that that drinkable food stuff? I saw a guy in a YT vid a while back, experimenting with it. Not sure I could live on that sort of thing. Not the same nutrition wise, but I've done the nutrition shakes and the lemon-cleanse fast thing in the past. You can live on them a while, but I decided I like solid food.

It has gotten a bit annoying, that. And I say that as someone who's posted plenty of self-pics at times. I find it amusing that social media had to coin such a cutsie phrase for self-portrait, too.

California likes to panic over a little rain
Heh. To be a little fair, our infrastructure is generally poorly equipped in many areas for stormy weather. Drains, power, housing design, soil consistency etc. Which is why a little storm can knock our power out and cause minor flooding via backed up storm drains in no time, if rain is constant for a day. 3-5 inches over a day or two can be a fair percentage of annual city rainfall, and the one time I recall this area having significant flooding (parked cars high-flooded height) was from 7-10" of rain over 3 or 4 days, I think. Maybe it was less...it was over 3 decades ago, barely remember.

LadyCrimson replied to ojthesimpson's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Welcome, love your excitement. Most of the videos are probably from those playing the backer-beta - people who pledged enough during the Kickstarter period to be in a tier where backer-beta was one of the rewards. I've only played it a tiny bit myself, since I don't want to spoil too much until release. Release date at this point, last I knew/noticed, will be in "early 2015." http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/68878-pillars-of-eternity-early-2015-beta-feedback-and-game-polish/

What you did today
If you put some sculpting gel on top, would it look anything like Puck from Glee? I still think one day I'm going to just start shaving my head, and damn how it looks. And believe me, I probably would not be the most attractive bald woman.

California likes to panic over a little rain
lulz. SF Gate blurb: Are we storm wimps Also: Funniest thing on the news: a not-tall femalereporter standing on dry land by a deep puddle, who then proceeded to step into puddle, talking about how water came up higher than her ankles (as an example of how much rain).

California likes to panic over a little rain
Read they haven't closed that many schools in over a decade or something? I suppose California has so little severe weather in most areas/times that anything out of the ordinary seems extraordinary. Anyway...hope anyone in the areas that are hit with actual flooding stay safe. Myself, I think I'm going out to play in the puddles for a bit. Camera/video in tow. I'll stay away from major roads/won't be going far, however. It's madness out there.

I figured it out... Why RPGs seem to be going down hill.
It's a fairly common one over on rpgcodex I think? Still, it's not one we're terribly fond/like to use here. It's easily misunderstood, understandably so. Just saying.

California likes to panic over a little rain
@Woldan ... yeah. Every time there's a storm like this, certain areas get river flooding (sometimes pretty bad), and sometimes landslides in the hills but the general "panic/news" is always a huge over-reaction. They are closing a big/main SF road tho...something about a levy flooding maybe. Not sure.
