Which is pretty much why the only time I use summons is in the big fights that last a while. Which means, not all that often. With a full party anyway. Edit: there's some items in the game that can allow others to summon a specific thingie in fights (quick slot item) but they tend to be expensive that I've seen far. Although I think I found one of them vs. bought - I can't remember. Maybe it was a reward. My memory is horrible.

I don't dislike the film or anything like that, but for me the best thing about 2001 was ... the music. And HAL, who was awesome. Other than that, it's sort of hypnotic at times, but mostly that leads to me falling asleep.

I'm definitely satisfied with PoE. I may complain about some stuff/think it has some faults, but it doesn't mean I'm not having fun/don't like it. I'd probably give it an 7.5/10 for its genre. And that coming from someone who really no longer really plays these types of games anymore. ...the Fast mode is really spoiling me, however. I'm not sure I'll ever be able to play another top-down party-rpg without it. Like walking in Diablo1 vs. running in Diablo2.

I like the purple skirt/dress uniform. I like flowing/elegant outfits. Games need more of those, imo.

Are skins used for anything?
LadyCrimson replied to Aerothorn's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Made me laugh, thanks. -
I did that ogre level at party level 5, but I had two fighters and a Monk. Managed to get through that level because of that, but it was rough and haven't been back to the Endless Paths in a while when I realized it got that difficult so quickly. Hehee. I'm lvl 7 now, might be time to check out another level or two.

I've been wondering the same thing. I've been in/done stuff in Durance Bay/Dyrwood etc. and no use for them yet. But still only lvl 7 (full party) so I've been figuring there was something later game. But...they are put in with the lore books and things. Maybe they are just "treasure for coin." -
From a new game, you can pick up the first 4 companions at lvl2 if you want, if you know where they are and just rush to get them w/out really doing any fighting or anything. The others not sure, a little tougher, unless you set it to Easy initially maybe. Maybe lvl 3 for those. But yeah...it's kind of annoying and definitely need to cheat/use a mod etc if you want them all to be from lvl1.

I feel offended do you?
LadyCrimson replied to a question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
I've actually tried to duplicate the increasing-stats bug on purpose...before 1.03. It didn't work for me/nothing happened. Stats stayed the same. eg, it's not a universal bug "everyone" is going to have and that I "just haven't noticed." I don't have it. Why, I couldn't tell you. At any rate, it's pretty difficult to really say how prevalent any specific bug is simply from posts on a forum. 1000's of posts doesn't mean 1000's of individual people for every reported glitch, for example. But it doesn't really matter if it's a minority or a majority. Some do have these gamebreaking bugs, bad luck or no, and they should be fixed where possible. Hopefully they will be. -
Build 530 - What's New?
LadyCrimson replied to Plazmid's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
There was a hotfix re: doors becoming non-openable due to a fog of war issue, earlier today. -
I might do that later, still trying to complete it once as designed, first. Although I must admit I'm becoming more and more tempted to do crazy things like pump companion stats for the lulz, because right now I'm tired of all the misery-tales in the game and it would make me laugh. I did like the baby pig, he was cute. But I already have my perfect black zombie cat and I'm not changing him out for a piglet. ...Eder thanked me for the bacon.

So I wont be playing act 3 yet
LadyCrimson replied to Mungri's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
The only cure is when one's "don't want to do it all yet again" meter finally outstrips one's desire for perfection. Like what happens when I gaze around my messy living room (with my messy spouse sitting in the middle of it). I'm normally a constant re-starter with a lot of games but PoE isn't quite putting me there. 4 or 5 times to check out some chr. classes but I think that's enough for me at the moment. -
My party was full when she dashed up to me and ... I told her to not bother me now. So she disappeared. Never saw her again. Maybe she's around somewhere, sulking, but I have no idea where. When I came upon Grieving Mother, I gave her a wide berth because I'm not ready for her yet either. ...I wish companions didn't auto-level upon joining like they do. Or rather, that they didn't auto-assign skills.

I've been noticing stuff like this as well, and it's definitely a bit jarring. I don't mind a little bit of this type of thing happening but after a while it does start to push it in your face that apparently you were "supposed" to do things in a certain order or something. >.> Feels like an oversight more than anything else.
-
Yeah, sorry, that is true about the chr. attribute checks. I meant that the behavior rep, once it reaches a point, seems to be considered in some dialogues. That is, the NPC reply seemingly considers whether I have *enough* "Clever" to pop up with a clever-based reply in response. So you'll see the [Clever 2] in front of the reply text. Where if I had less than 2 Clever, I'd assume that flavor reply wouldn't appear/you get the more generic reply. I've started noticing a [ Mercenary ] NPC response as well, of which I have no idea what it's for, what it represents (if anything) or why NPC's have it show up as a marker in front of their monologues. There are +to attribute items to increase your pc's stats for checks (Eder has +2 to constitution in one game), plus I thought that the Inn resting bonuses counted, but not sure on that one. I can't recall what the max is you'd need for stat checks, 18 maybe.

Based on threads post-Kickstarter period, I'd say no, you aren't the only one who isn't into Monks, whether just in PoE or in general. ...I normally like them in games, because I like the idea of speed/dex builds that AREN'T rogues or stealth-based, but with the combat mechanics of PoE and the Wounds system, I wasn't enjoying it all that much. They're fine/ok, just not very interesting to play, imo.

If it's something almost no one is going to pick next time around, however, then one starts to wonder what the point is of having it at all. It would have been better as something that wasn't tied to your precious talent/skill-point-spending, perhaps. Like if it was something you got after putting 4 points into Survival, for example. I consider those points less "precious."
-
Yes, re: dialogues. There's all these options for dialogue and yet it all goes to the same place...even ones with the stat checks. eg, NPC: "[ Clever2 ] Ohho, I heard you're a funny one, thinking you're all smart." but then the NPC goes back to/ends in the same panel as it would if you weren't Clever. There are times with rep or favor changes but it just feels so minor and I never feel like I'm struggling over a hard choice, if you know what I mean. Just close your eyes and click one, half the time. But perhaps I'm not far enough to really judge that aspect yet. Although from some of the posts in the PoE forums, I don't think I/we're alone in feeling that way. Combat...I like the melee aspects fine but what is irking me (and why I'm not finding replays exciting) is whether my player-chr. is a Cipher, Fighter, Monk or Barbarian, it doesn't alter the feeling of the overall party combat, I'd agree. I may as well roll the same pc class every time. The "no wrong choices" is a nice idea but for me it sort of feels like it means there's also no distinguishing choices. It all kind of plays out similarly regardless (I realize solo would be different, but that's a rather specialized goal and not what I'm considering atm).

Me: *points to cart* "I have 3 of those." Cashier: "3? Not 4? You don't get the deal with only 3." Me: "That's fine." Cashier: "You sure? 3, get the 4th free." Me: "Yes, I'm fine." Cashier: "It's $5.99 each if you only get 3." Me: "I understand. It's fine." (this goes on for like 5 minutes, I swear, the cashier just did NOT want to let it go, until finally) Me: "I ONLY WANT THREE, IF I WANTED FOUR I'D HAVE FOUR. THANKS." Cashier: *silence* "Ok then...if you're sure." :banghead: :banghead: ...For pete's sake, some people.

Must have slept "funny" because I feel horrible this morning. It's "errand" (and friend lunch-date) day and I'm trying to peer through the malaise to get ready to run out and about. That's pretty much how I view him.

Aloth/wizards - if you don't like constantly managing friendly fire, then no, not too useful to a party, especially early on. Ciphers are better, imo. Items become more interesting somewhere in Act2 perhaps. At least in terms of more bonuses and multiple enchantments. So far the only belts I've found were in stores, but I'm only in Act2/late Dyrwood areas or something in my main save (I get the feeling I ran out of "order" because I went there before finishing up Defiance Bay things...). I'm still really loving the game overall, but I'm starting to question its general replayability. Since I like to restart a lot...the 2nd time getting partway into Act2 was still pretty fun. The 3rd time I had fast mode on 95% of the time and was fast-clicking through all dialogue. The last two times I didn't get far before starting to think I'd just finish the game with my original Monk party. There's something missing. Little too scripted feeling, overland maps feel small with little in them, a sense that choices often don't mean much, I'm not sure really. Anyway, the first time through is awesome and great fun, and it's fine if I don't end up replaying it 15 times, but it is a little disappointing to me.
