  1. Move to the Bay Area and you too could find a great single-family home deal like this one! http://www.ktvu.com/news/burned-out-property-in-willow-glen-sells-for-over-900k (yes that's land value but it's still funny in a painful sort of way...) When I was a kid it was still over-expensive here sure, but nothing like it is now. I think only NYC is worse, cost-of-living, housing vs income, and the like, than here. So out of control....
  2. I haven't caught up with the previous thread in a while, was there a flame war? I did use YouTube last night to look at a fair number of "upcoming 2019/2019 releases" and most of the ones I saw were, imo, same ol' same ol. Nothing that just leaps out at me, at least. I also noticed that Subnatica has a new EA for basically Subnatica:frozen version. I still haven't played the first one, but I do like the ice environment more than anything tropical-ish.
  3. From a few nights ago. Pork "riblets" and beef full ribs. Messy looking and a 10-napkin affair, but pretty tasty and certainly tons of meat on the ribs so you don't feel gyped. From a pizza place we used to go to years ago - heard they did a lot of BBQ now (as well as pizza) so we had to try that. Hubby liked it a bit more than I did I think - tasty as it was, I still prefer Asian styled meats (Japan, Korea, China etc) vs. typical American BBQ. Does depend on the sauce itself however, ofc.
  4. ^ Still just Steam for me ... I mean I buy games from GoG too, but I don't use their client. I don't have any serious issues with other clients existing (I have no loyalty mantra with Steam, they're just the one I used first - because, Obsidian/FO:NV, which for at least a year was the ONLY game I had on Steam), but I just can't personally be bothered. There are very few games on the other clients/digital store options I care about anyway and I can do without them well enough. I suppose if there are ever dozens of games on other clients that I really really wanted, I might bother then. In the meantime...I just don't think about it is all. I barely think about Steam either.
  5. Velvet Buzzaw/Netflix "original" ...great cast, disappointing movie. I watched it all because of the cast and because I kept waiting for the actual "horror" parts. There aren't many and they're nothing much. Didn't feel cohesive, jumping around between some characters that you never care about and not making any sense. One chr. in particular seems somewhat sympathetic early on but then does this total 180 into a ***** for no shown reason other than the script says so. The actors do what they can but ... yeah. The best part was one chr/actor being in the background during the credits. Edit: there *is* some minor appeal to the satire re: art snobbery, but that wasn't enough for me
  6. Sitting here trying to decide if I should buy Aven Colony (sci-fi/city builder type) from GoG because it's only eight bucks and a quarter. I could download it and save it for a rainy day. Mixed reviews tho. Hm. Anyone tried it?
  7. Stronghold and Stronghold Crusader, still some of my ultimate fave soundtracks, where I didn't dislike a single track. The uploader didn't remember the track apparently (theme, the chant, and combat tracks were probably most known), but I remember watching the workers march across the castle grounds or grass to deliver goods with this playing, all the time. It was sort of the "castle idly going about its business" track maybe. Sigh. 1st time playing a game memories. Edited: oops I meant Crusader, not SH2. SH2 sucked.
  8. I also prefer a pretty spartan life. I'm kind of like that at this point in my life as well. Not that I don't buy things, but I don't buy/collect a lot of physical things anymore, outside of household type necessities. That said, if they wanted to create/print a paper making of/guide/artbook combo of some sort, I'd pay $30-$60 for that (edit - maybe a bit more), depending how thick/fancy it was (don't care about hardcover or super fancy myself, oversized softcover is fine). Digital version is not at all the same and I don't care much about those, sorry.
  9. Muted isn't a bad word for how I've been feeling lately as well. I need to get out more, to be honest, but at the same time I dislike going out in any city-ent. sense and it takes too long through constant street traffic to get to true open space and back again now, so I usually just stay home/in the yard except for 20-30 min. walks around the neighborhood to stretch my legs. :/ At the moment I'm waiting on Amazon to deliver weekly order + weekend munchies. Supposed to rain a lot I think so this weekend might be mostly indoors. Unless it's really stormy, then I might go out with the raincoat and a camera. Y'know that poster pic from Unbreakable where Bruce is in the rain in his poncho? That's me. Minus the superpowers. Or the "looks kinda creepy" factor. Plus I'm not Bruce. Um...never mind.
  10. Reading this made me suddenly miss Richard Jordan and want to binge watch his scenes from several works.... Not familiar with Pedro Pascal but searching his images ... I can see it. Duncan Idaho was probably my fave chrs. from the original novel.
  11. I used to herd cats but these days I just garden and play video games.
  12. Btw, I'm not dissing Michael Dorn. He did what he could and my boredom with Worf wasn't actor-related. I just didn't find TNG Klingon's interesting or entertaining. As to the female outfits - it's kind of funny how the female tight "bunny suit" chr. evolved with the different series. I still remember when Troi was promoted and wore the standard blue/black Starfleet uniform later, imo she was actually more beautiful in that then that silly purple outfit which I thought was actually unflattering on her. Of course you can go all the way back and chuckle over Uhura and the other female's super-short 60's mini-skirt uniform where their uniform-underwear was constantly on show. But at least that costume probably didn't make anyone faint.
  13. There are exactly three Worf "moments" that I found memorably amusing (still easily recall them today) and one was more of a Data moment. "Good tea, nice house." "I'm beginning to see the appeal of this program!" (A Fistful of Datas) "This does not remind me of you." (Data to Worf as Worf is picking out a wedding gift) I found his character largely boring and I wanted his son to be shipped back to Earth post-haste. The son's mother was a cool chr. tho, I was ticked about her demise, I wanted to see her in more guest shots. Also, that blue Klingon head in that posted picture is just "what?" Even worse than the classic to TNG jump, imo.
  14. I feel like STD could maybe use a different acronym. Then again, I find it rather amusing every time. I still haven't seen any of it because I refuse to subscribe. Since I liked Flashpoint a lot, thought I'd try this series called Durham County, one of those single-crime-story (not episodic) series which stars one of the leads from Flashpoint. 2 episodes in it's slow, rather odd, and features zero likable characters. Not in the "bad acting" way - but the slightly annoying/whiny or stupid-decisions to the ***hat you want to punch in the face way. Probably won't continue.
  15. I've been playing on PS4 this round (last time I played PC version was at original release, didn't feel like reinstalling it/blizzard service) so the UI is different for the controller. Most things are (so I read) pretty much the same otherwise between versions (minor update differences here and there at times). Edit: I think Indira is playing PC version, from the screen Edit edit: PS4 main Seasonal chr. menu/comparison:
  16. I had some toast, a pear, and a yogurt. I know, I know, I live on the culinary wild side, what can I say. ...I've had a hankering for some homemade lasagna however. My really fattening, sausage-laden, no ricotta-cheese (mozz, cheddar, other shredded cheeses) lasagna, that is.
  17. I know, right? It's ridiculous/funny. With 13+ difficulties and greater rifts going past that, not surprising I suppose. ...at least you can turn the numbers off. I only run them when I get curious about numerical "progress."
  18. (video stills, extra fuzzy) Me: routinely/very frequently do 1-3billion crits Mages: routinely do 300-500million Skellies: routinely do 100-200million So far: That plus gaining another 50 or so Paragon levels = still not quite enough to beat GR70 in time-limit (req. to have chance of Primals to drop). Some of it's rng on the dungeon and enemy types that spawns but I keep missing by 30, 60 seconds...bah. Edit: at least I'm close. Maybe another 50 P-lvls...
  19. I believe that was kind of my point.
  20. For the longest time my favorite remained the reddish fugly half-formed golem thingie pet which came with the ultimate/necro edition. I just liked the way it was animated when it ran around picking up gold, it was too funny. The two cows and the floating skulls are the only others I've liked much. Haven't gotten the Bumble yet - probably missing 4 or 5 pets (on non-seasonal chr). lol - that's a pretty apt description of the current version of D3.
  21. Documentary: "Fyre" - Never heard of this guy or his island party fiasco. Might've seen the cheese sandwich picture but with no idea of what it was about/its origin. Anyway the doc. is train-wreck-fascinating and makes you scramble all over the 'net wanting to know more/look up all these people, so I guess it works. Kingdom: S. Korea's zombie series airing on Netflix now. I'm not big on zombie-genre in general but it's only 6 episodes so I took a gander. Mixes a lot of palace Royal politics and scheming (typical of period SK dramas) with zombie outbreak. Although the zombies in this case seem like a mixture of zombie and vampire, but whatever. The political stuff doesn't work (or meld) with the zombie stuff too well and it's fairly slow paced for 2-3 episodes (for zombie/horror fans who like action, I mean) but it's not too bad. The action/zombie sequences are well done visually and it doesn't shy away from violence at those times. The end was a bit ... well. Disappointing? Unexpected? Not great, not bad, but doesn't even come close Train to Busan.
  22. Got any recommends? After really liking Hakuoki, Cinderella Phenomenon and Lake of Voices almost everything else I've tried (I've only bought from Steam) has been ... not very good. Or too much like Hakuoki and thus been there/done that. I don't mind, for example, a VN being classed as an "otome" but it has to have more story/depth of chr. than just "pick choices just so you can get in bed with the hot trope guy (or gal) of choice." I did try looking at some other non-steam sites but it's hard to tell quality tales vs Harlequin romance from descriptions/covers so I gave up. Edit: I did buy Ken Follett's The Pillars of the Earth but haven't tried it yet.
  23. Inheritance is going to be a lot more than I was expecting. When it finally arrives/gets out of legal, most will go into savings etc. but contemplating splurging on something I wouldn't ordinarily splurge on. Just can't think of anything. I live a quiet life with quiet (mostly) inexpensive hobbies and ... Hm. Hubby is likely to talk about doing something like building a greenhouse all day long and never do it - maybe I'll just do it for him (eg, hire people). ...or maybe I'll build an attached fenced in cat-run/house for indoor kitties to play in the sunshine. I'd have to get more kitties tho. ...couple-hood peace is better off with the greenhouse vs. poking holes in house walls. I can grow my own jalapeno's, bok choy and romaine lettuces at least.
