  1. Dad pretending he doesn't wanna, until the lights go off. Kids get fun toys these days.
  2. ^ Wait, does this mean you'd need a bnet account to play it? Or is it just the store purchasing option? .... Steam doesn't mention it, so I hope that means no on it being attached to bnet itself. ...it's $70US on Steam. ...it's $90US for the pre-order which gets you 2 skin packs, artbook/soundtrack, and "up to" 5 days earlier access. >.> Yeah...that makes me expect more from it, quality wise, than I originally was. Like length, replayability, that sort of stuff.
  3. The key to kitty comedy is apparently hard floors.
  4. I was confused for a minute. Game? Show? What? Oh, anthology 15 episode series ... based on games? The games tie-in does nothing for me, depends on the stories. Hm. Has some big names doing some of the VA.
  5. Factorio is one of those games I've looked at, but it seemed to be more architect-skill based (not literally, but you get what I mean) then simpler base or city-building based, which for me means no. There's been a few games where even if the concept was appealing, I wasn't willing to do that much learning of the "system." I'm sure once you know how-to, it's second nature, like most games, but these days I like games I can "learn to play" without feeling like I'm learning AutoCad. EDIT: felt a need to clarify that I do like complexity at times/in certain forms, but such can also trigger obsessive patterns that at this point are more exhausting then entertaining, so I tend to avoid. My aging brain slowly wants simpler and simpler gameplay, not convoluted busy work. But yet ... not too simple. Tic Tac Toe is still boring. The most irritating to me is when there are needlessly complex/silly levels of something, which makes you think it's going somewhere, and it turns out it's all pointless/there is zero need to even utilize it. As much as I liked No Man's Sky's exploration, that cooking/food system they had was like that. It was just ... utterly pointless. You could remove it entirely and almost no one would notice.
  6. Dunno if someone posted this in the past but this looks right up my alley. We shall see.
  7. According to internet, I quite likely have many "traits" of: ADHD PTSD being somewhere "on the autism spectrum" (ASD), or whatever title is currently in fashion to use Major Depressive Order (long or maybe forever "remission" stage) or whatever they might call it now A laundry list of physical disorders A laundry list of hormonal disorders "Of course, this is not a diagnosis, but only a list of possibilities." ...is it just me, or has it reached a point in mass modern culture where everything anyone ever does is a symptom of something, that might need "fixing" or "managing?" ...maybe I am just ... me?
  8. ^ If a game's main point (to me) is exploration+sandboxy and maybe repeated restarts, static maps are boring over time because you know where everything is. There is nothing to explore/discover since you know the "best POI/weapon" is 10 clicks over that hill. Static maps are fine/great for rpg's, since there's a path and quests you're supposed to follow that require a certain structure (although this means I personally won't replay them more than a few times perhaps), or mission-structured RTS/citybuilding maps where part of the challenge was finding different ways to conquer/build the same limited-size/terrain map, etc. ARPG's like old Diablo's that did that mixture where a dungeon was randomly picked from several possible maze-rearrangements, worked pretty well for that type of game. Which you could eventually memorize all the possible maze configurations, so you knew which one you had as soon as you entered the dungeon, but at least you couldn't predict which one you'd get at any given time. Usually I'd have gotten bored of any 7Days update by now, even with all my mod tweaking.. There just isn't anything else yet I care to purchase to play - or it's all Early Access etc. Sometimes I feel like Steam has become 85% Early Access. >.> I think I've given up on Manor Lords because they put in that food spoilage mechanic and it doesn't appear like they'll remove it or give an option to turn it off. Whenever they add an actual new map I might check it again but eh.
  9. Putting a zombie down in one sneaky blow - satisfying. Making them hold their severed head in hand (happy accident) - sublime. I keep trying to shoot both arms off of one, because it would be funny seeing them chase after me with no arms, but so far I haven't made it happen.
  10. Was getting bored of 7 Days but then I found a user-made map, on 7daystodiemods website, which enlarges/alters the game's default "hand-placed/created" Navezgane map. Most of us long timers are bored of/never use the vanilla Navesgane map, because, y'know, it's static, and the towns are all tiny/spread out. But it has much more artistic charm, unique POI's and terrain features etc. I've tried other oddball user-made maps and didn't like them too much, but this one is great. Combines Navez's unique personality which helps inspire exploration more, with some RWG styled features. Suits my nomadic/roaming style to a T. Sadly as with any map, I'm sure I won't care to play/use it more than once or twice, but at least it made the game less boring for a bit, again. I'm still waiting for that beavers city-building game to be not-early-access. And a couple others, all in EA for at 3+ years now. Maybe in another few years. Every time I see a new early access "release" claiming they hope for " a year in early access" I just laugh. Just fess up and say 3-5+ years.
  11. Make it white chocolate macadamia nut cookies and hot chocolate, and maybe. Except I can't, because glucose levels. Ah well. Maybe I could try being a "whale" in some idiotic mobile game that I could play on the tablet, on the couch. *looks at some mobile games, fine print* "app purchases to $299" Uh, holy... not quite that bored (or rich), yet. Back to zombies.
  12. To be honest/fair,I don't really care what my avatar is - I don't put tons of thought into it, outside of "why can't I make this dress BLUE, darnit". At this point I barely play any games where avatar/chr even matter. In my head all player-avatars are "me" - not in terms of any real-world "representation", but I mean that I am not a purposeful role-player - thus I suppose I pick avatars that represent what I idealistically might pick out of a real closet or be attracted to in real life. Including hair styles/deco, colors, or whatever. I remember in Hogwart's, one of the youthful male avatar face options strongly reminded me of a childhood "boyfriend", which made me laugh, and I picked that one. That's about as deep as I go.
  13. Suzume - well lots of great reviews. I can understand the reviews, but for me it was simply nothing special. Animation is beautiful, and ofc I thought the "cat" chr was a little amusing/interesting in its small (but important) role, but story didn't do much for me and admiring the animation sequences was about it. Maybe I couldn't quite get past the talking chair. Not that there's anything wrong with human-transformed talking chair, any more than a talking cowboy toy. But I never felt like I grew interested in the chr. behind it. Actually, same with most of the chrs.
  14. Yeah, I'm pretty much the same. Which is why (in fantasy) I probably tend to pick wizards or assassins or necro's or whatever else (that and I'm more ranged/stealth type vs. melee). The WWF wrestler type dressed up as Conan/He-Man or bulky/weird glory-armor with a giant helmet does nothing for me aesthetically.
  15. I gave up expecting much re: the "general population" intelligence ratio a long time ago. Especially in terms of actual lasting effects. Individuals can/do some remarkable things, but en masse we tend to be irrational idiots. LC, spreading her positivity everywhere!
  16. Heehee. This is why all modern day games that emphasize costumes etc. should have the transmog ability. That was one of the best things about the Hogwart's game, for me. I don't play many games that offer such, sadly.
  17. Some people could wear a dirty potato sack and they are still gorgeous. But not many people want to play/roleplay a chr. wearing a potato sack, outside of temporary humor value. I think many think of attractive-wear as something that accentuates the form in an aesthetic way, vs. hiding it. The "problem", if it is one, is that this sometimes seems to translate into "how naked can we make it feel without being technically naked." Which for me is an aesthetically and artistically boring goal. I'm more into the elegance and material flow, re: female game/fantasy clothing. Don't care if it's real-life practical re: combat, it's just aesthetics. Well, unless one is actually making a historically accurate game perhaps. So I will pick outfits/chrs. that appeal to me more in that regard, vs. what I think of as an "ugly" outfit. For male figures - I dunno. I still like elegant or a bit more formal, like robes or more aristocratic styles or certain East Asian influences. For the record, in real life, I would never want to wear any of the fantasy outfits, male or female. They look uncomfortable. T-shirts and sweatpants, that's me. I don't even like real-world dresses. I've had to wear more formal dresses for a few occasions here and there and I hated every second of it. Just me tho. But I still like pretty on game characters. *shrug*
  18. More games should have (human) characters with slumped shoulders or slouched backs or maybe bow-legged. I get tired of all the ram-rod perfect-posture like they have poles stuck up their
  19. Sorry to hear/condolences, majestic. As always, our pets lives are never long enough. Well, unless your pet is an elephant or something, I suppose. But I digress.
  20. Oh, I have no doubt it'll happen at some point. But right now, it doesn't matter the candidate's merit - there are still plenty of people who aren't ready for a female US President (vs Mayor/Senator etc), whether consciously or not. They may not be (talking) on this forum, but we're a pretty small demographic. As someone who disliked Mrs. Clinton a whole lot, I'd agree Kamala is much different, but eh. Her short campaign time did not help at all either, I'm sure. Well, I would consider that extremely "sucky", but then again, he didn't bring about the total downfall of the US/world his first term, so I guess I can at least hope that'll be true again. The knowledge he couldn't try to run again is also a sour-grapes plus I suppose. Or he'll die from old age before his term is up anyway.
  21. We can all feel super smart for being able to get around/being nerdy enough to know how to alter things as we want (unlike the average consumer, which is what a lot of companies bank on, imo) but we're sorta still part of the statistical problem as users. Not that everyone has a choice in the matter, I know. I'm just in a very negative headspace re: current US state of AI/computer/digital dependence and monopolistic/privacy/profit sharing-investor desperation cycles. At least Google's being taking to task on something, recently. Something's gotta give (for a while - a new cycle) at some point.
  22. ^ Yeah I disable and got rid of tons of stuff in Win10Pro manually with the group policies and PowerShell. I've only updated Win10 "important files" twice I think, when a game demanded it. I'm sure I'd do the same with Win11. Edit: I always purchase the O/S, vs. free upgrading of previous. If I could buy an "enterprise" version for home I would (well, in the past, dunno about 11). But hubby says Win11 is also pushing for the MS account login to run it. That you can disable it but hard to find without knowing how. I'm sure they'll start pushing for subscriptions on top before long. It's just all going to the dogs.
  23. I have now "Ignored" 2381 games on Steam. Maybe if I ignore 97,463 more, I might finally find/get shown something I like. If you can't tell from my blathering semi-bloggity increased presence, my sleeping has gone all to heck again. I've cleaned out (physical) file cabinets, cleaned files (virtual ones), a ton of laundry, dusted walls, baked a (low carb) cake, watched countless videos, watched some true crime episodes, tried to watch half a dozen movies, caulked a shower, watched hubby watching Prison Break, watched the rain and on and on. Can I go to sleep yet.
  24. I watched this in syndication in the late 70's every day after school and I loved it. Maybe that explains a few things.
