  1. I'm not really sure how constructive it is to make life even more inconvenient for suffering people in order to save some percentage of said suffering people at the expense of the others.
  2. Yeah, pretty much. That and some of the auto features. Getting back to Cyberpunk 2077, of course the hype will be there from the company's history and the potential is there, but personally, I can see some things creeping in that I don't really care for - augments galore for starters. Seems like another excuse to go heavy with a jack of all trades system with loads of enhancements of various types. This seems pretty much a guarantee. Never liked their way of doing it in either Witcher games I've played. Also, even worse, much worse, the dialogue. TW2 was so bad in that regard that I couldn't be bothered trying the third game. Unless things are dramatically different on that front, I can't say I could bother with this one either. Plenty enough RPGs with bad writing out there, but I hope I'm wrong as the potential is there - setting/FPS/apparently open world with a nod to Bloodlines acquiring apartments with computer access and agreeable "friends".
  3. I'd say it rings true for a large chunk of gaming, but obviously there are always exceptions. I never feel the need to point that out, but I forget that net discussions practically require it. That said, even the exceptions aren't really my thing. Just not that interested to have to try every single mechanic/story out there. Just a point where I'd rather be doing something else.
  4. Is it really asinine to rather replay New Vegas for the 10th time than to play these games which I know I won't or don't like nearly as much? I didn't clearly write out that the Tomb Raiders should be grouped with your Ass Creeds and the like, then the Indies in their own group of quirk, but figured that'd be self explanatory. That said, I don't enjoy the whole realm of gaming like I do when I just sit down and play New Vegas or a few other titles. I don't think I share much in common with the industry these days or perhaps ever - basically here for the Cainarsky, and once that's done, so am I. Not into Pillars - couldn't be any less interested in the setting/style. Same goes with every game listed here. Bastion was one of the best written games in recent times, but the gameplay? Heh, not so much. Many of today's games are remarkably unreplayable in my eyes.
  5. What you mean is that you're too lazy to find ones that you'll enjoy, therefore it's easy to say "They don't exist". Nah, I meant exactly what was said, but am thankful for another words-in-mouth post.
  6. I take it you don't play too many games, just the few overhyped AAA titles? To say "Games these days are garbage" as if 80's/90's games are so much better says you're either inexperienced or blinded by nostalgia, no offense but the "golden era" of gaming had more bombs than the last few recent years and indies blow away those titles. I would name some but I don't want to start an argument. I mean, If what I'm saying wasn't true, Stardew Valley wouldn't be considered better than the original Harvest Moon games by the hardcore fans, Hollow Knight and Dead Cells wouldn't be considered the best metronidvania by the most hardcore Super Metroid/Castlevania fans, the list goes on. Even storywriting has evolved and only gotten better.... So don't close off games off today just because a few were bad. And then there is the lath that says "I miss the days where games were good" but are the very same people who complain about a game even if it's great, because it's 2018, I guess. It's just "cool" to hate Ubi, EA, Bioware, etc these days. This coming from the biggest fan of Sega Genesis which was a decent system with decent games. The best one being Sonic Spinball and Dr. Robotnik's Meanbean Machine. Edit: Then again, I'm going to assume that everyone here is either around my age or a bit older. Every generation seems to think "The good ole days were the best huthut, they don't do things like they use to" which I can understand. I had this mentality til I got into indies and they opened my eyes, proving to me that they don't do things like they used to, they do them better! "but I don't want to start an argument." Why stop now? So many assumptions, I'm not sure where to begin, so I'll just keep it short. I hardly play new games because they aren't memorable in any way, whether we are talking AAA or Indie. I find Indie titles just as if not more overhyped than AAA. They're mostly quirky little titles with terrible mechanics, stories with just a shade better writing, depending on how quirky you like it. An awful lot of style, little substance. I mostly just replay games I like. Gave up on giving overhyped games a shot since I don't have an OCD to play every game that gets released.
  7. That 2013 Tomb Raider was some special kind of garbage. Never really been into Tomb Raiders but that game summed up gaming these days pretty well. It was one of the last games I bought, on discount even, and it still made me feel stupid for buying it. Every game is some crappy rehashed hybrid of some sort, obsessed with the next gimmicky mechanic. I didn't expect anything from this E3, and am still almost grossed out by the slew of crap.
  8. Eh, the characters were so drenched in video gamey humor that either totally appeals or repels. For me, it was the latter. Couldn't stand it.
  9. Can't say that I do. There's no doubt more people are bordering on mental illness than really known, and that's kind of creepy.
  10. Emotion - the great tard equalizer of all. Personally, I find it a bit creepy when people celebrate the death of anyone, deservedly so or not.
  11. I just don't get the attraction of the wastelander/punk aesthetic. Never will. A generic form of ugly.
  12. More effort than this deserves but hilarious nonetheless.
  13. The truth seeking is nonsense. Most people should know of Obsidian's shaky past, and on the flipside, that Avellone has had disdain of management for years, all that's missing is the details and these are one-sided, no matter how "true", and really isn't anyone's business.
  14. Comes across as a bad therapy session. Clearly the method isn't working. What about Ulysses from Lonesome Road? Stuck in the same style of expression, which isn't necessarily bad if it weren't a completely uninteresting and obvious circle, same thing with the cartoonish Old World Blues. But eh, everybody likes their own thing and some people seemed to love it, but that style is not for me.
  15. He'd have a point complaining about an asymmetric NDA if Obsidian had said anything bad against him, but so far it's been entirely one way in that respect. And again, he's made it patently clear recently why they would want an NDA and why it would not be an unreasonable stipulation. So far there's no reason why an NDA applying to Obs would be necessary or practically advantageous to him in any way. The reverse, not so much. Frankly, his belief that he'd have no legal recourse if Obs started slagging him off is utterly ridiculous. If they're defamatory then it doesn't matter whether there's an NDA, it's defamatory. At the most basic level: it's a tad, a mite, a smidgeon hypocritical to complain about someone else being free to hypothetically do what you yourself are actually doing, when they aren't doing it. Exactly what I was going to quote and respond. Thanks for saving me the time. What a horrible agreement - one that has enabled you to do exactly what you're afraid of the other party doing. *facepalm* Which leads me to believe he wasn't exactly that afraid, just desperate to claw for anything to now complain about.
  16. Agreed. I haven't cared for anything he's been a part of since Alpha Protocol. His work with FNV is the worst the game has to offer. Seems to me his greatest success of the last several years is fanning the flames of his long held grudge. Must be a great time.
  17. Thought this was going to be info about a new game instead of the rehashed drama. Yawn. Might as well write a book about it.
  18. Funny though how it was Hillary going after Rockstar in the past with that Hot Coffee, showing the ridiculous reach the party spectrum has proving there's little difference between the two.
  19. Eh, Bethesda has been on a good run of games published, although I haven't played them all, but even so I can see myself playing a Bethesda developed game at some point in the future before I'd want to play another Rockstar game again for example. Won't even bother going into the ridiculousness of censorship.
  20. Sounds like an Indie title to me! Art heavily outweighing every other aspect, basically Indie is an art generator.
  21. Nuts. I just run with a music extender. The game is unstable enough bare bones.
  22. Good. Stick to what makes you happy. I still play FONV and Bloodlines more than anything while fitting in bits of other games when I feel like it. Have no use for the majority of new releases, AAA nor Indie, the art of Cuphead being the lone exception.
  23. Started Cuphead. As expected, great visuals and fun music with typical cheap indie control scheme that hinders already thin gameplay. AAA indie title, all graphics, no substance but maybe the style will have me see it through.
  24. Why would you think that? Nothing has even been hinted at, and likewise has been denied multiple times by multiple people. This game is a new IP, and the Obsidian crew isn't enough into vampires to make their own while a Paradox deal with Bloodlines exists in the future. Some Fallout/Arcanum/barren waste fantasy journey is more up their alley.
  25. The duke is probably the most comfortable controller there is to me. I preferred it over the "controller S'mall" for all genres except FPS, as the analogue sticks felt slightly out of position for precision movement/aiming. Those controllers were well made and the long cords were nice.
