This is my second time through and I'm playing darkside. They still didn't get it right for my play style. You still seem a little thuggish rather than the darkside manipulator. The big problem though is I've been running into a lot of conversation dialog that seems should earn you a darkside point and nothing happens. That is annoying, but what really gets is two part is the game so far are really wrong or just broke. I take Mira to Nar Shaddaa to make her a Jedi and every conversation choice I pick sounds darkside, but at the end I have a net gain of light side? The only thing I can think is the dialog I have to say that echoes Kreia talked about kindness so it is forcing me to get lightside points. That is really wrong. The next is I had to go lightside enough to make sure I got Mira so now I'm trying as hard as I can to make up the darkside points so I can get a DS prestige class. I'm on Duxon and I find that missing Mandalorian. Again I'm trying to get max ds so I'm trying to save him in an evil way to at least not get an ls point, hopefully get a ds point, and then get a second when I tell the others what really happened. I'm as rude and mean as possible. No ds ok fine. I'm rude again and even use the force to force him to agree to give me a reward before I'll even save him and I still get a LS point. WTF? I'm sorry but LS falling to the darkside is much too hard. The darkside is the quick and easy path. It is supposed to be easy to fall to the darkside and half the time my evil act net me nothing on my path to the darkside. They just make sure I don't get a ls point.....some times.

AI problems with the character I'm controling
Sorwen posted a topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I don't know why, but playing darkside I seem to be running into twice as many glitches as I did before. The AI for the character is kicking my butt more than the NPCs are. I had to finally try putting the AI on stationary as my character would often run off before I could even stop it. Even that way I still have had my character kill one creature to just run through mines, that my character is aware of, to go attack another creature. Ignore the fact I'M controlling it so it shouldn't be attacking until I select it, especially run over to attack when I haven't chosen to do so. He is set to stationary! He shouldn't move after a creatures! It says right in the description he doesn't move, but attacks creatures that come near. It doesn't say he moves over to a creature way out of melee range and then stay stationary there. This adds to the one I've seen since the first moment I started playing. Were range combat characters run into melee before shooting then run back away to ranged. Add to that running through mines the are aware of to do it. The one from the first game where they will run off chasing creatures well away from the character or go agro on a creature that is well away and even when you control them then another party member agros on them. It has gotten all my party NPCs killed because I couldn't stop them attacking a group before I was ready. I'm glad the game is having fun playing, but in those situations I'm not. -
1) Kreia conversation about best/worst skill. It said it raised the skill, but for me it didn't. Top was Awareness and bottom was treat injury. 2) I think most people have had this one. In the cache that Mandalore send you to when you try to use someone else's computer skill to move the robots it uses yours instead. 3) No Lightside/darkside points for how you handle the riot in Onderon square. 4) During any of the Mandalore conversations there is no lightside/darkside points in his conversation like other characters. 5) Some lightsaber components do not add correctly. Telgon Jolt Cell Mark I doesn't work. I forgot the other. 6) Persuade for the purchasing the Ranmana doesn't work. I had cheats on my second time, so I could start with a lightsaber, so just for a test I set persuade to 90 and still failed to bring the price down from 2000 to 1500. 7) I was messing with some saves and before Red Eclipse quest I got a conversation between Marr and Handmaiden about my character. I went to another save where I hadn't gone to the ship first and then did the Red Eclipse quest and never got the conversation. I couldn't complete the fuel for Telos station quest. I went back to talk to the station chief and It would bring up any dialog to complete the quest. 9) If you use Daraala to complete the two dead salvager quest she reset as if you didn't do anything else. On the same note if you don't complete the quest before you protect the base you can't complete this quest with the guy in charge of base security. There were more, but I didn't write them all down.

My favorite AI mess up is a character with a blaster running through a mine they are aware of to get into melee combat with someone. Then half the time they run back so they are in range combat. Yea, natural selection failed in the Star Wars universe.

I was lightside and Revan was lightside. Bastalia was talking to Carth after I left Telos for Malachor V.

I was going to change one of my crystals from my lightsaber and one of the crystals is missing. Has anyone else run into this? Know what causes it? I can't remember the crystals name, but it was one that gave +1 to hit and damage. Edit: lol actually it is like the lightsaber absorbed it. I removed everything from the saber and it still has a bonus + to hit and 1 damage more than other lightsabers.

Class Level up and Prestige Class Level up
Sorwen replied to Sorwen's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Thanks. That was want I wanted to know. -
Well if you got the lightsaber right from the start it would be just a weapon then, you need to build the anticipation, that's why we've got these beginnings. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm very much a Jedi Guardian. I don't feel like a Jedi without a lightsaber in my characters hand.

I'm getting close to when I can get a prestige class. What I can't find out any where is if like in the first game you take a new class you can't level up the original or can you choose which you can level when you level?

They both suck, I want my lightsaber. I guess eye candy/play wise Taris.

pretige classes and saber construction NEED HELP

I can only answer the level question, kind of, I've heard no level cao(with the easy xp top out at 30) or level cap of level 50. -
What are the advantages of a single lightsaber?

Finesse Lightsaber or Finesse Melee
Sorwen replied to B_old's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Basically they half did the d20 finesse. Finesse is per weapon. They just decided to only break off for lightsabers. -
I forgot to mention that. Yes and the first movie there is well was the same way. Looks like it was just direct port or something rather then redone for the pc. Also I forgot to mention that in some of the log you watch they dialog seems to be cut short for no reason or skip whole parts of what they are saying.

I admit first that I haven't played much yet and though I'm running into a few annoying things they are not major as yet, but annoying. Some are/maybe actual bugs, others things I don't like, others I have to double check yet make the comment any way. I love kotor 1 so keep that in mind for some of the comments I make. Interface: Plus, the inv/char/etc screens do as they said and size to your resolution. That is great. It is nice that it fills the screen so I can see it and no squint at the little text because I play at 1280x1040(sarcasm. I didn't really have to squint last time, but you get the point). Minus, I wish just wish that the onscreen options didn't quite size as well. I have these huge option bars top right and bottom left that cover most of the screen an option to size these down a bit would be good. what is the use of playing at high res if half the screen is crowed up with huge option bars? Oh and it is very annoying that they and seems to have no point to have moved the action bar on the opposite side from the option bar. There seems no real reason for it other than to try to be different. Personally I liked it were it was and was use to it there because of 40+(80+ played twice) of playing the first. Seems a change for changes sake. Characters: Plus, the characters are a vast improvement(yes and no). The faces are great a lot more curved/less blocky looking than from the first. The hair is awesome. Looks real and bounces/moves as the character does. Minus, I've not seen the women yet(well much shouldn't say yet), but the main characters over all body type still seems block/over large. Arms/leg seem misshapen a bit. Looks like a gorilla. Environment: Plus, I haven't seen much, but some of the environment looks really good. textures are well done areas are well made. I was even able to look through a window through an area and through that window and see a creature moving. Awesome attention to detail! Minus, some of the textures are really bad. Some of the consul and other background things look very two dimensional and lame. I've run into a few pathing issues/clipping. Some places it seems you could be able to move over, but the area the path allowed was really small. I've also had a problem where I had to walk really wide of a corner because the character ran into an invisible corner well away from the wall. I had to walk straight back and then walk well wide of the corner to get around. Game play: If I'm not mistaken they gave you more points this time. I don't remember my stats being as high when starting in k1. I could be wrong though. If not I like it and if wrong I like it. I haven't gotten far in, but so far things add up correctly with the feats and such I have. That's it for my first impression. I may write more as I play further.

KOTOR 2 has officially shipped (PC)
Sorwen replied to Black Raven's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I have to call the game store at lunch and see if they have my pre-order yet and if not then when. -
If they are still going to meet the release date of the 12th that the stores keep saying they would have it in by then I would hope so.

213374U is right in that you have a str(to hit/damage) and dex (to hit/def). To put it in a real world-esque perspective(as that is the basic idea behind the concepts) it that a strength fighter is using shear power or bullying through a persons defense. A dex fighter is relying more on speed/quickness/agility to get around a persons guard. Since the style of fighting it totally different a strength and dex fighter should be better at hitting. He is just going to do a little more damage than the dex fighter and be a little more defensive compared to the str fighter. All that said in some of the advanced rules for d20 star wars they have a lightsaber form that lets a character get damage from dex. There is good and bad about that rule, but since you don't mention it I assume it wasn't put in the game.

Cool "Happy Holiday" KOTOR Wallpaper

Malak the snowman...Everyone sing... It's a mod out there. -
I wouldn't have said hat, but I agree. Though I have low hopes for it.

TPM is a good movie. How people complain about that movie, and not AotC is beyond me. AotC really makes me just hide my face sometimes because I'm so embarassed for the actors. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The only thing I remember of AotC is Natalie Portman in tight white outfit. Anything else about it was worth forgetting. That and if the hero cries about it he can still do wholesale slaughter and get some. Anakin and Luke where strong in the whine side of the force. lol, they both grow out of it in different ways. On topic I think it would be cool as well for the Jedi and the Jedi order to have a more grandiose presence. The republic wasn't the only time the Jedi had such a large scale presence. kotor tried to make it seem that way, but the map was so small it felt like a little outpost rather than a school for training jedi. It would also be nice for them to have more of a connection to the events going on rather than just a there. Run into some other Jedi on tasks for the counsel and maybe just help them for one mission the move on.

Having not played the game I can't say whether I'll like the ending or not. Likely not with who is involved, but I will say this. I play a game to watch and interact with the story, I read a book to read a story, I don't play a game to read a story. That's why I hated Torment so much.

Revan, the Exile & KOTOR 3 (if it is ever made)
Sorwen replied to Dark Wanderer's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I think it could be done with revan, but I wouldn't be. Something like reading the last kotor save and start your character from there. There is all the new force powers and (I can't think of the name now, but what the classes like Jedi Master and Weapon Master are) then throw in a few more as the D20 game has tones of content available to adapt. -
Do You Prefer Male Or Female Revan
Sorwen replied to Bastilla_Skywalker's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Very much has that whole SW vibe going. I did LS then DS both male. I am so that's normal. We generally want that save if you want to identify more with one of the NPCs. That and who wants to identify with Carth? -
this game went wrong terribly wrong...
Sorwen replied to isdngirl's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
A new person wants to complain. It's their right to. Others want her to know they agree. It's their right to. You want to complain about it it's your right to. I want to complain about all these people complaining about all these people and tell them they need to get over it. It's my right to.
