  1. There is a setting in one of the control panels added with your GFX card that will turn this off. I had the same 'problem' when I first set up my SLI card. Go to control panels, then open display. Click the settings tab, then the advanced button. A new window should pop up. Click on the tab that is called your gfx cards name. Then click the left hand tab labelled SLI Multi GPU. In this page turn Show GPU Load Balancing off. IE uncheck it. Apply your changes then try it now. If you have any questions or problems with the steps feel free to ask. Either way, don't freak out... it isn't a glitch or problem, just a setting that is showing you that is working. When I turned it on, it was my own fault, as I thought that it was the 'activation button' for SLI mode. LOL, then I forgot which control panel it was in and had to hunt for about 10 minutes to find the tab to turn it off.
  2. I had the same problem when I had Anistropic filtering and, especially, anti-aliasing on. If you have either of those two effects turned up, turn them down to 1x. If you don't have either gfx feature on... hmm, sorry, couldn't say except for the standard advice of make sure your gfx drivers are up to date, or try older KoTOR era drivers.
  3. Sometimes I enjoy goofing around with cheats but any time I sit down to play the game beginning to end 'seriously' I don't use cheats. I did do it once though. I love RPGs that allow you to take a character from one game to another so after beating KoTOR 1, I wrote down all of the statistics I had, exp level, stats etc, and then used various cheats to give myself all the points and stats I had in KoTOR 1. It made no sense that the Exile was recieving all of Revan's power from the first game... but oh well it was fun. Quantum Leap kind of situation. " Since you have already beat the game multiple times, I say go ahead and use any cheat you want if you think it will add to the enjoyment. I sometimes use 'fair' cheats in games I've beaten. For instance, in Quake IV, an update came out that adds a new gun to the game in multiplayer mode. The weapon works perfectly fine in single player, so I use a cheat to aquire the weapon during breaks in the story where you stop at the command ship. Then I start the next group of levels with this cool new gun which I wouldn't have access to otherwise. Harmless cheat IMHO.
  4. Sony needs to hire someone other than Maralyn Manson to create their commercials. I don't think I've ever seen an ad that made me want something less.
  5. Things like this are why I stopped using ATI cards. If it wasn't one thing it was another. I've had similar problems in the past where a game just stopped working while using ATI. I'd try and remember if I had changed anything but couldn't remember updating anything. All I can think of is to try the latest graphics drivers for your card, if that doesn't work, try an older generation of drivers. ATI really needs to get it's $#!^ together as far as drivers go. They fix one thing and break 10 others every time a new version comes out.
  6. How many people have actually recieved viruses from EXE files they downloaded from reliable web sites? Over the years I've installed zillions of EXE patches and mods and I've never recieved a virus from an EXE file.
  7. Hmm, have you made any changes recently? Graphics drivers, updates... something like that? You may want to try reinstalling the game, or try updating/reverting to other drivers.
  8. For those clicking on the links and not getting a response, try right clicking on the link and then 'save target as' to save the PDF file to your computer. You need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view the file.
  9. Things that force me to be happy against my will make me angry! "
  10. Awesome... the fewer bugs the better. They could have used some thorough beta testers and but squashers the first time around. I'm amazed no one caught some of the bugs in KoTOR 2 the first time around. "Hey, uh guys, I've played Telos about a dozen times, but I've never run into the escaped convicts... is, uh, that right?" "
  11. Update to 0.7b1! "All content implemented. All Block, Crash and Major severity issues resolved." :D No more lightsaber bars... the end is starting to come in sight.
  12. Deus Ex was a great game, just wish the AI was better. It was always funny killing a person or two in the UNATCO HQ, having the whole base come after me, then hide in a vent shaft for 30 seconds or so and have everyone go back to their usual routine. Come out... stand over the corpse and have guards walk up and say 'hi', then walk off.
  13. I for one am getting sick and tired of the creepy girls in games and movies. It all started with that damned Ring movie. Now every other horror game has a girl dressed up in her propper little gown and tries to spook you. It was kind of creepy at first in the ring... but it really is wearing thin for me. It has become a bit of a joke. I recently watched a long preview vid of Bioshock... and saw something both hilarious and disturbing at the same time. One of the little girls walks up to a dead body then... it looks like she points straight at his crotch and said... "Look Mr. Bubbles! Adam!"... Then proceeded to take out a massive needle and drive it into the corpses crotch. I'm hopping it was just a mis-aligned animation... but I haven't gone back to scrutinize the event more closely. I've only been semi-interested in Bio-Shock. I love the underwater stuff... but the setting is kind of weird and to be honest it didn't look that scary. I may change my mind though, I've watched previews that looked horrible, then played the game and loved it. So, who knows.
  14. http://knightsoftheoldrepublic.filefront.c...es/Patches;8180 For all the latest patches. Yes, 1.0b is the latest. The movie and music patches are optional but are nice if you have the space to download them. I highly recommend each and every one of the restoration gameplay fixes. They fix many broken parts of the game and I've played a few times through with them installed. I never once encountered the escaped criminals until I installed the fix on their page. I believe they kept the files seperated because A: Someone might install a mod that could conflict with a fix. If you don't use mods then don't worry about a conflict. B: For quite a while these fixes came out at regular intervals so stopping every week or so to create a combined fix pack would have been a bit more work than just releasing it as a seperate downloadable. Just theories, but either way get all the gameplay fixes. They are nothing but bug fixes and make the game play more like it should have originally. The gameplay TWEAKS, misc and tools are a different story though. Read what those do and pick out only what you want. I personally only downloaded the gameplay fixes.
  15. Something similar happened when I was a kid. A cat of mine ran off. I saw it a month later looking at me on a fence near my house. Then it just hopped off and I never saw it again. I'm more of a dog person. " Another funny incident was this young cat I had that needed some expensive surgery on it' after getting a nasty plant burrow stuck in it's eye. Literally the next day after the surgery, my father backed over the cat. The one good experience I had with a cat is the cat I grew up with. I have no idea what breed he was, just a white and black cat but he was the most mellow and cool cat I have ever encountered. I think it was because we grew up together. I still have photos of me in diapers pushing him around in a stroller as a kitten. I had him for 18 years and lost him in a move to a new state... but it was a great 18 years. He unfortunatly got out of the house and I never saw him again, though I hope he was adopted and had a good life for the remainder of his years. I haven't really been interested in getting a new cat since. I've yet to find a cat that had his personality. He could be skitterish around other people but around me and my family... he was just so at ease and friendly.
  16. Can't think of anything but the usual routine. Make sure you are running the latest version of the game and have updated your video drivers. I'm running on a pair of 7800s as well in SLI mode. No problems with the game. It amazes me how many people have had graphical glitches and problems with this game.
  17. Just saw Lucky Number Slevin (No that is not a misspelling). I really enjoyed this movie, has a lot of similarities with the Usual Suspects. I'd talk about it, but mentioning almost anything in the story could give away spoilers. Some great twists and all the actors did a great job. Also, am I the only one who likes the movie Lost in Space? I ask because I watched the movie years ago, just now picked it up on DVD and read reviews of it online. Most reviews say the movie is absolute crap, yet I really enjoy the movie. I never did watch the original series, so maybe that is part of the reason. Anyone else here like the movie?
  18. One thing I wonder about, is the locked nav-computer. There is one cutscene involving HK47 & T3M4 where HK confronts T3 and then T3 zaps HK when he starts figuring out that T3 is the one that locked the nav computer to protect something or someone. I'm guessing that it is supposed to be something to get you wondering about where Revan went, but is this linked in someway to cut content? Heh, that is one of the bad things about the large amount of cut content in the game, you start wondering if other things that may simply be there for tension/mystery purposes are also linked to cut content.
  19. I recently got the first season of 24 after hearing decent reviews. I enjoyed it quite a bit, bought the second season and have enjoyed that as well. My only problem is some of the things are a bit cheesy. I can just see the writers running out of ideas... "Hey, lets have Kim have ANOTHER incident with some crazy guy!". I've enjoyed a lot of the plot twists though and the show does a great job of getting you interested in what will happen next episode. I tried watching the shows on Fox but I'd always end up missing an episode and then just saying to hell with it as I didn't want to miss any plot points. It's been a lot of fun watching it on DVD though. Also, I recently watched Rat Race for the second time. One of the funniest movies I've ever seen. I absolutly loved the part with John Lovitz in the Hitler car in front of WWII vets. The only weak point in the movie was the ending IMHO. The movie was just so wacky and funny and then they give it this lame give all the money away to kids in foreign countries cheeseball ending. Yeah, I've just gone through hell to win all this money. If anything I might make a few thousand dollars donation but the WHOLE FREAKING BAG? LAME! The movie should have ended with the laywer and the hooker driving off with the duffel bag.
  20. I believe they mentioned they were in a bug squashing period... often one of the longer more frustrating parts of game development. If that is the case it would certainly go a long way to explaining the long update time. I think I remember reading on their forum that the updates would slow down because they would just involve talking about little annoying bugs they had spent hours working on and would rather forget so they can start on the next maddening bug.
  21. He was trying to cause the collapse of society or some BS like that by murdering white families and trying to frame blacks to cause a race war. I agree with an above poster about offing people like Manson. They don't deserve life behind bars, no matter how bad that life might be. It's pretty lame how much it costs to use the death penalty. They used to hang people and I doubt it costed more than the rope to do it. Can you just imagine sitting at home, like many of you are now, then have a group of crazed, dirty and hairy hippies burst into your home and do those things to you and your family for no other reason than the hell of it? They deserve life behind bars at the VERY least.
  22. "Although he seems darkside, maximum influence requires lightside behavior (save Telos, save Dantooine)" That is actually not true, or atleast it wasnt on my playthrough. He only wants you to 'stabalize' the situations there, one way or the other and that includes the DS methods.
  23. Overall, I prefer lightside. DS is a ton of fun though, because it is often frustrating to deal with bozos who can't solve their own problems and take advantage of you, so sometimes its nice to replay and kick their butts.
