Forget anyone from Europe watching. UEFA 2016 is on all channels tonight. I fully expect your cliff notes posted here by tomorrow morning Ok, you guys get a pass. I was up late watching the US get whopped by Messi & Argentina last night in Copa America. It was as depressing as the Rays losing to Cleveland.

I woke up to the sound a Sunny barking like crazy and a hell of a racket going on outside. A fox tried getting in the rabbit enclosure and got stuck in the gate. The rabbits were in their house but if the fox got in it would have been bad news. I walked over with the SR-22 pistol I keep hidden on the back porch and I was going to "take care" of the fox. But it made eye contact with me and looked so desperate I ended up pinning it's neck to the ground so it couldn't bite me and cutting the fence wire to free it and let it go. Tomorrow I'll reinforce the fence. I'm getting soft in my old age.

The Rays lost in Cleveland 6-0 and never had a runner past 1st base. I hate baseball! They are f-----g WEAK this year!

George RR Martin interviewed Stephen King. I hope like hell he paid attention to what King said. That guy could teach Martin a lot about productivity! http://grrm.livejournal.com/490515.html

Gary Johnson & Bill Weld will be on a CNN Townhall tonight: http://www.cnn.com/2016/06/22/politics/libertarian-town-hall-what-to-watch/index.html This is CRUCIAL. I hope he's got his A game tonight because this can segue into a podium on the debate stage. I'd encourage everyone with an interest in US Politics to watch. Especially voters who find the Clinton/Trump choice to be like choosing which which finger you'd rather have cut off.

What conspiracy theory did I advocate? Advocate? We don't advocate... we start them!
-
eyyyy That seem bit failed study. Because data pointed towards Clinton winning over Sanders. Even I was able to predict Clinton most likely taking nomination based on poll and vote data in early March. http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/85040-us-elections-2016/page-10?do=findComment&comment=1786341 But of course there is always possible that poll data from all polling sources was fraudulent. And that there was country wide conspiracy in Democratic primaries, with thousands of participants. Don't you see? That's what they WANT you to think! The conspiracy theory IS the conspiracy! I love conspiracy theories. That's the most fun you can have on the internet (besides porn). Especially if I can get WoD going!

Ah, so you found two articles referring to the same incident. That kind of makes the whole assertion you made that he has "he encouraged it in the early days of his campaigning" a little difficult to defend IMO. Especially since it's his SUPPORTERS who have been the targets for the majority of what little violence there has been.
-
Fair enough, I just wanted to raise that consideration ...but it does seem unlikely If we didn't like the show we wouldn't talk about it at all. It would just be ignored. You know like we did with Enterprise.
-
Whoa! Back up there Bruce. The majority of violence ((such as there has been of it) has been perpetrated by people OPPOSING Trump. Do you honestly suggest he is responsible for the conduct of people who are against him? And as for the level of violence there has been, one fight is one too many but there is a bar in Memphis called The Stagecoach that has seen more fights in one Saturday night than this entire election cycle.

Ah, that MUST be it. We are confused by the labynthine complexity of a TV show plot. My what poor dim witted wretches we must be! No, seriously they left the books behind in many ways long ago. No the criticism is because of story choices that honestly don't always make sense. But we tune in every week so it is safe to say we all like the show.

Actually Winterfell looked a LOT like Castle Black.

The flip has flopped: http://www.foxnews.com/us/2016/06/20/fbi-doj-release-new-full-transcript-orlando-shooters-911-call.html

Bruce I wouldn't dismiss the notion of willful ignorance out of hand. Personally I think it is more about "newspeak" to use Orwell's term rather than Obama seriously believing by not acknowledging a threat it won't be a threat. But he has given little explanation of why he makes the decisions he does so as I said before people draw their own conclusions.

It's in their best interest to throw the whole thing in the memory hole because 1) Their cozy diplomatic relationship with the house of Saud. 2) It goes against their narrative of minorities (their pets) behaving badly and they are embaressed by it. Meshugger shoots... and scores. Everything is politics with these people.

True, not something I'd normally do. But he is making a big deal about it and it will be interesting to see where this conversation leads, if anywhere. But fear not. I don't hold the conspiracy theorists like Alex Jones in high regard.

You guys are almost impossible to please.....seriously This episode should be considered one of the best single episodes of any series. It had so many exciting threads and ended so many story lines....how can anyone not love it Well if the show were the only thing we had it would be easier to not be as critical. There characters on the show tend not to hold up well when compared to their book counterparts. Unfortunately there seems to be a underlying theme to Jon is not allowed to be a "hero" in the traditional sense. He can't seem to accomplish anything without help. I suspect book Jon would have kept his cool and not sacrificed his position or his army's movement discipline in an attempt to save Rickon. And if Rickon had any sense he would listen for the sound of Ramsy's bow release then change direction when he hears it. Once an arrow is fired it can't change direction, he can.

Yes that is true Allah and God is referring to the same thing. But they are going out of their way to change the narrative of this attack and it begs the question why. I'd be very interested in hearing everyone's opinions as to why it is so important to the Obama administration that the words of the killer be changed or omitted.
-
Minor rewording wont change what we already know and history will always use the account he was a Muslim extremist Why do you think the Obama administration is going to such lengths to censor all references to Islam from murderers own words? http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2016/06/19/lynch_partial_transcript_of_orlando_911_calls_will_have_references_to_isis_cut_out.html

This just in: Mateen was actually CHRISTIAN. Yes upon latest revision the DOJ has determined he was not praising Allah in the way commonly associated with islam, he was actually praising God which as we all know is how the western christian faiths refer to Him. http://www.infowars.com/doj-replaces-allah-with-god-in-edited-orlando-terrorist-transcript/ And always remember comrade citizens, War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery and Ignorance is Strength.

Oner is right about one thing. There is a definite trend in TV shows and movies to not allow the protagonist of any particular plot to be the "hero". Even in the battle of castle black last year Jon had to get help to prevail, the same at Craster's where Karl actually won the fight until he was distracted. I'm not sure what the reasoning behind this is but I've seen a lot of instances in this show and others. It does no service to the story though.
-
Arrrgh... I was JUST about to post a version of this! You beaten me again Raithe!
-
Like I said a while back, the show is like a cliff note version of the ASoIaF story, Small, more compact. The story the books are telling is huge. It complex and IMO more interesting. But the show is a nice distraction on a night nothing else is on. I'm not even comparing the two anymore.

Jon has never played MTW I or II apparently. You don't meet a cavalry charge with a cavalry charge especially if you are outnumbered. If your force is primarily infantry you keep your cavalry on the flanks. Davos had a good plan. Collapse the center and draw the cavalry in and hit them on the wings. That is exactly how Hannibal won at Cannae and he was outnumbered too. Charging was stupid. They got all bunched up where they could be enveloped by a shield wall. The only way to break it would have been a flanking attack by their cavalry IF they had held them in reserve. That was how the knights of the Vale broke the shield wall. It is unwise to meet strengths with strengths unless you have a superior defensive position or superior numbers. Too bad I wasn't in that tent. I'd have told them all a few things. Then invited Sansa back to my tent for a private strategy session!
