  1. Bennett advises Zelensky to surrender to Russia, Zelensky refuses Israel seems to think they are some kind of mediator. My reply would be "Did you surrender when you were invaded and surrounded by enemies? F--k you."
  2. Keeping a pitch clock in the minors isn't a terrible idea. It did serve the purpose of getting young and upcoming pitchers into the habit of working quickly. Habits that would likely continue into their MLB careers.
  3. We're staying at a Marriott Fairfield on the south end of Manhattan. Don't know the area well but it's one block off FDR. I just looked up Russ & Daughters and it looks really good. The one in Brooklyn is right across the bridge from where we're staying. So definitely going to try. We're flying over on Sunday morning.
  4. Will Transformers Take Over Artificial Intelligence? This was a pretty interesting read. But, God help me, when I read the title this was where my brain went:
  5. I hate the pitch clock. Hate it. I am happy the stupid "man on second" and bush league 7 inning doubleheaders is going into the trash bin. Very happy to see draft pick compensation go away. The MLBPA never should have agreed with that in the 90's. Also happy to see teams incentivized not to tank but I don't think the draft lottery went far enough. I liked my idea better. I hate the DH too but at this point it's like the stage coach driver cursing the train. It was always going to happen eventually.
  6. That is a bit of a patchwork set of weapons. But credit to them for getting so much good out of what they have. One disadvantage though is a number of their infantry rifles use different ammunition. I saw at least one guy carrying a M-249 SAW which is an absolute man-killer of a weapon. But it uses 5.56mm while the rest uses 7.63mm. One guy had what looked like a Kreiss Vector 9mm full auto. The video guy didn't point it out but that is what it looked like. As for the anti-armor weapons you are outside of my wheelhouse on that one. The only one I am even vaguely familiar with is the AT-4 and it's long obsolete. And even then it was more used against buildings and fortification rather than vehicles. In my experience you didn't attack armor using infantry. A rifle company when confronted by tanks would set a hasty defense and call for air or artillery support. Or get the hell out of there. The folks fighting in Ukraine don't have that luxury.
  7. This clip has NEVER been more relevant! Ukraine is game to you!? - YouTube
  8. Going to New York all next week with G. Neither of us have been. She has a whole bucket list of thing she wants us to do. Monday & Thursday I'm all tied up with work. But I bought us tickets to see the Rangers play the Ducks in MSG on Tuesday, Lower bowl section 115. That wasn't cheap. $150 per seat! But what the heck it was on both of our bucket lists.. On Wednesday we are going to see "The Music Man" in the afternoon and then to dinner at Donburiya (unless she changes her mind again). Plus lots of other stuff I'm sure I'll be briefed on before we go
  9. Hell I WISH it was just an isolationist attitude. THAT is something I could at least understand. It's the segment that is actually CHEERING for Putin and the Russians that boggles my mind. Starting with Trump. I expected very little from him and God knows he has done almost naught but harm. But to praise the modern day Hitler for invading a sovereign state without (legitimate) provocation and even suggesting we do the same to Mexico is more than I can stomach. And then, then at least 1/3 of the rank and file Republicans AGREE with him. What the f--k happened to the GOP? When did they become the "bad guys". They were never the good guys but I used to hate them slightly less than the goddamned freedom hating Democrats. I don't know how we got here, but here we are. McCain, Reagan, Eisenhower, and Goldwater are rolling in their graves. I'm glad they are not here to see it.
  10. Let's see who is old enough to get this
  11. Nice to see you back @Calax! I'm sorry you had such a sh--ty experience with her. That sucks.
  12. Heck I don't need a bar of soap to smell like that! I usually need one to make me STOP smelling that way!
  13. Started watching "From" on Epix. Four episodes in and I am intrigued.
  14. I've been so busy with work lately. The biggest problem is the tedium of data entry. The data that I use for my work comes from multiple platforms because we are using multiple vendors. I am pretty handy with VB so I use Excel & Power BI for my actual work. The tedium is all this data has to be entered into excel. Manually on some formats. Some come in .csv so that's easy. Bri was over doing her laundry and we got to talking about it. She offered to do the data entry for me. I told her there was $20 an hour and a license for MS Office in it for her if she would. She agreed and my workload just got cut in half. Sub-contracting. Why didn't I think of that???
  15. James "Cool Papa" Bell was on of those great Negro League players that never got to play in the MLB. Which is a shame because he was likely BETTER than Jackie Robinson. Satchel Paige once said Bell was so fast he could turn off the lights and be under the covers before the room got dark. In an exhibition game against MLB all-stars he once scored from first on a bunt. Or so his legend goes. Bell's career ended before Robinson made his first start. I would have loved to have seen what he could have done for a team like the Cubs or Pirates in the late 30's. After his playing career ended he went on to be a scout for the St. Louis Browns and was inducted into Cooperstown in 1974. After he passed away in '91 the street he lived on in St. Louis was renamed for him.
  16. Dunno why but I found this very funny. I guess I'm easily amused
