  1. Probably NPC in Spanish. (Personaje No Jugador). Or "Personnage Non Joueur" in French. The OP meant NPC but forgot to translate from his native language.
  2. They said they were going to add a blocky UI option so I'm happy they kept their word. Curious to see what the final result will look like. Can't see very well from the screenshot. It almost looks like metal instead of the traditional IE stone and parchment styles. If we look at the color right now, maybe they're going for a BG EE "blue marble-ish" style (not my preferred one).
  3. I think a lot of people agree that the city parts shown in the stream felt empty. Even adding random peasants could improve things.
  4. Cool! Hope this one will get a high priority #WishfulThinking
  5. If there's no cows I'll be in a very bad moo-d.
  6. Nothing but now it does! People talk a lot about modding engagement out and since I heard a fair amount of people willing to mod friendly fire out I just mentioned it too.
  7. No worries man, I was just trolling you. I kinda agree with you a bit in that the combat experience is not great right now, but I'll see on release date before making any final judgement. They might very well make everything smooth in 3 months.
  8. Guise, don't get your hopes too high when you think "yo dawg on release day ONE I'll mod engagement and friendly fire out of the game fo sho". Lots of spells and game mechanics will rely on engagement, and lots of spells will have some friendly fire. Just saying. Modding these out (thus modifying spells and game mechanics) could take from a lot to a LOT of time (or maybe be impossible), so be prepared to possibly wait for a couple months. Which made me think, maybe the dev team could make it so that most of the engagement and friendly fire code could be modularized and isolated in one single place of the codebase, so it would be easier to mod it out. Might please everybody.
  9. Also, BG > PoE only because BG had cows. Hello? Put them cows in the game already thxbai
  10. Wait, what? I neeeeeeeeed this. Amaze. Maybe I have ****ty taste but I absolutely loved Fallout 3. Actually this was my first Fallout; I then played Fallout 1 and 2 because of it. If there's gonna be a Fallout 4 AND it's made by Obsidian I'm just gonna have to quit my job and play non-stop for a year.
  11. On Steam I haven't played anything but Counter-Strike. I wonder if generally, Steam game saves are synced in your Steam account in their servers? Would be nice when changing computers. But maybe that is not possible at the moment, or save files are too big, or PoE is platform-agnostic (since it will be on Steam and GOG, doesn't make sense to focus on Steam capabilities).
  12. Yeah, we were better off before the invention of wheel. Hunting mammoths, these were the good old days I'm telling you.
  13. Yeah, some tooltips would be nice to explain what we are looking at. I remember when playing Beta v392 and looking at this without any sort of tooltip I was thinking about developers telling me "Hey fellow gamer, here's some numbers! 42, 118, 87, over 9000s. Enjoy your numbers."

  15. Yup, I've ticked the checkbox temporarily to make sure there was some recent activity this month, and there is. You can also see that they resumed working if you check Adam's or Josh's twitter feeds. For example 3 days ago they fixed some Linux asset problems thanks to the Unity update.
  16. Obsidian probably knows all of this but if you felt it was worth reminding, OK. Armchair programming and/or game design can get a bit annoying. Makes me think of this non-programmer coworker who often came at us for a feature request and said: "It's easy to implement: if this do that. See, it's just a condition!". If things were so simple, everyone and his dog would be a professional programmer . These sorts of comments are bound to happen in a beta forum though, so I don't pay much attention to them. I don't think it's completely fair to attack the posters you are talking about. If beta feedback did more harm than good then why would Obsidian have announced a beta on Kickstarter? They probably knew what they were getting into. Beta posters just do what they were allowed to do in the first place. If it weren't for the posters, I would not know as much about the game as I do now. I feel more prepared to enjoy every detail of the release. Also, some posters may be students, unemployed or just very dedicated. I don't see why they should be blamed for this.
  17. I can think of 1 or 2 candidates tops. :-P
  18. As we have seen, the Backer Beta is a derived product from the main development branch, where most of the actual effort goes. This BB was promised on Kickstarter and it was delivered. It's a nice to have, but it's not the main thing. IMO, given the project budget and resources, the developement overhead needed to release this beta should be close to zero, so that devs can ship and fix more things. It looks like it is the case at the moment, with QA and communication doing the main beta work. So I guess it's good. If no dev overhead is needed for better communication or patch notes, I am all for it. If on the other hand significant effort is needed whenever a Beta patch is released, I would prefer things to stay the same. If there is already significant effort right now, then I think Beta releases should just stop until further notice.
  19. Dunno if this has been added in a previous patch, but I killed some random backer NPCs and got attacked by the rest of the village. Nice touch.
  20. 'Nuff said!
  21. Still better than no patch in December! *knocks on wood*
  22. Oh, alright. If I may be pedantic though, he said that they don't have unique icons, not that they won't have unique icons. Just saying! IMO it wouldn't hurt to spice up talents a bit more.
  23. The game should work natively on Linux and Mac.
  24. If class neutral and specific talents were organized in separate sections/trees, there would be no need for these generic images. Depends what the devs are planning to do.
