Becoming a Developer=A work in process
The Great Phantom replied to Craigboy2's topic in Developers' Corner
Can I help w/ the story? I can 'cite my resources and knowledge at command, like a parrot! Or, if you prefer, I could learn sign-language in a week or two, and sign it like a chimp (which I suppose would be more appropriate...)! -
KOTOR 3: Sanctioned Good Ideas 1/3
The Great Phantom replied to Master Anoon Bondara's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I like that beginning... But, how about the person that kills you is that same guy asking the questions? That would make it cool, like a traditional Assassin small talk. They could tell you that they're there to help you, but you need to answer a few questions first, like: Are you expecting others to help you here? And you could answer "Yes. My true love, Bastila Shan will be here soon." or something like that... And then, it turns out that person was actually a spy or something sent to kill you and hunt down all of your old companions... Play around w/ it. -
Deus ex Machina: the Will of The Force ...
The Great Phantom replied to metadigital's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
What the Jedi mean by 'serve the Force' is to balance themselves in it. They seek the same thing that it does (the death of inner turmoil), and in doing so, to destroy Chaos. The Force is technically selfdestructive (like that song "I'm a hazard to myself!"). It strives to find balance, but those that it supports (and in turn, support it) have morals, and lack-thereof, so it has to 'split' itself to continue to support its livelyhood (all life). The Force was created by life, and it is life. It would NOT intentionally destroy itself (or, LIFE), but LIFE destroys other LIFE (look at hunters), so it has to follow suite. Just my thoughts, though. -
KOTOR 3 - Truth or speculation
The Great Phantom replied to RobMcB's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Personally, I wouldn't mind playing a NORMAL PERSON in Kotor III. This gives us NORMAL abilities, and our mission is to find out what happened to EXTRAORDINARY PEOPLE, and, in doing so, maybe find out that even Mr. Joe Schmoe can save the galaxy... -
KotOR2: What a disappointment...
The Great Phantom replied to KilrB's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
In case you didn't know Iyactu is dead and Bane is back. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I know. But, I looked at some of the other modules, and they take place anywhere in Faerun history, as well as some odd LOTR set ones... I'm setting mine in the 10-15 year span where Iyachtu tried to gain power before his father killed him and took over his body. -

I'm surprised this topic isn't getting more visitors... The Nature of the Force usually draws flame wars all over... -
KOTOR 3 - Truth or speculation
The Great Phantom replied to RobMcB's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
It was actually one of the first RPG's I've played (other than a few minor ones, but Kotor I was my first MAJOR RPG). It got me hooked, entirely, on RPG's (I still delve into RTS's because I'm a sucker for problem solving and strategy, and FPS's like StarSiege). Since then, I've played several major RPG series, and I just started on the 'fabled' D&D/Forgotten Realms RPG's... -
KotOR2: What a disappointment...

I finished NWN (the first game, no expansions yet) in two weeks, and then went over it a bit more... Now I'm making a small module that involves Shar against a getting-too-brave-for-his-own-good Iyachtu Xvim (Bane's half-demon son and successor)... -
How do you become a Jedi?

As much as my Inner Revan loves Bastila, I REALLY didn't need those images... -
Wow, even the females are starting to sound sexist... I think that Revan shouldnt' have any gender (unless the player gets to choose one). And, even though I'm a male, I do wish that the game developers would give female PC's something special like Brianna's precognition thing. In cRPG's, I play a male as my 'true' characters. But, in my stories, the main protagonist is usually a free-spirited female (that breaks traditions). This is the case in many of my short little stories (except for the one where there was her and an ancient Elven Vampire, but that's a special thing to show the tragedy). In my stories, a lot of the time I put female protagonists that I think are someone I might like to be around (but not in that way, 'lesser' males/females!).

What would you say when killing someone?

I'm going to try NWN's expansions, then I'll get BG I, and any expansions, BG II, and expansions, (MAYBE) Icewind Dale I & II, and then I'll try out PS:T (hopefully with another couple of months to try out Dungeon Siege before Kotor III SHOULD come out.) -
Deus ex Machina: the Will of The Force ...
The Great Phantom replied to metadigital's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
:'( Beautiful! I almost cried when I read this. You perfected my statements without using examples of theology, and instead replaced it with the MUCH PREFERED movie quote. No, I'm not being sarcastic. That was a PERFECT way to explain it... I was trying to say it differently, but I made little sense, I suppose... That was BEAUTIFUL! :'( -
I want closure on Kotor II, or else I fear I may forever drift away from LA to D&D (not that I'm not doing that now, anyway). Kotor III should come out at the end of 2006, and then I'll be able to die happy after fixing a few things (like feeding my long dead pets for the first time since laying eyes on Kotor I  ).
-
I had NO problems w/ Kotor II, and the only thing that bugged me were the missing story parts, but I'm smart enough to fill in blanks on my own... I found NWN to be a lot like Diablo in a few aspects... I described some of the blood and other not-good-for-eight-year-olds things to be found in the actual city, and she was really curious as to how it mantained a T rating...

Deus ex Machina: the Will of The Force ...

That is COOL! I added the post to the other thread to see what would happen, and when I come here, it's already updated! Okay, I feel better now. -
KOTOR 3 - Truth or speculation

That's what probably 'went down' in the OE 'hood'... Off topic: Have you ever tried to rewrite the translated Odyssey into modern slang? It was quite hilarious, and ended up something like "Yo, dog, what's going down in the hood, homie?" Then again, I'm not a fluent in slang... LA seems like OPEC and Congress... (Okay, I was TRULY serious about the first one). -
Deus ex Machina: the Will of The Force ...
The Great Phantom replied to metadigital's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Try not to compare SW to modern theologies, etc... I tried, and had a MASSIVE headache the next day or so... There's no SINGLE spelled out theology that it's based on, like the Matrix. It all depends on what the current story-writers thought would make a cool story, or, in Kotor II's case, spin the 'lesser' of the species' heads and get them all discombobulated (sp?). The Force is Nature. It shapes things naturally, and would live in harmony if we humans didn't come and screw everything over. The Force is not equatable to any pantheon, both ancient and modern. People don't have to pray to it to use it. And don't say isn't meditation praying? Caus it's not. The Jedi and Sith meditate to focus on various emotions to give them strength in the current situation (Jedi: Peace, Tranquility aka Neutrality ; Sith: Anger, Hate, Sadness, Fear, etc.).
