  1. heh heh.
  2. "... as PROOF that the game sucked..." "...but don't try to come off as holier-than-thou to us other Star Wars fans..." ... I think he's just defending his position... You say it's the 'status quo' for games to have you playing the developer's character. I don't think they're talking about story, though, and I think you've gotten so obsessed with proving your point of view that you fail to see that you're full of crap. Honestly, saying he doesn't know what he's talking about when he says he doesn't want to play the developer's character is like sticking your thumbs in your ears and shouting, "I can't hear you." Ask yourself: Why doesn't it matter that you're playing the developer's character? Why might it be a good thing for the developer's to define the character, and how does that defining happen? Is that a good thing? I'm sure your answer would be, yes. I can't answer the rest for you, but suffice to say, if you argued that than arguing his own argument, you might actually come to some sort of conclusion. Whether or not that means you both agree is untold, and it's highly unlikely anything of the sort would happen. Don't expect it to. They obviously don't think there's enough freedom in the game. What benefits are there to having more character creation freedom, ala fallout, and what benefits are there to having a pre-defined PS: T type character creation? I'm sure you've explained these things before, but apparently you either need to go into more detail or stop and think about what you're actually trying to say before you mutilate it beyond recognition. If it's obviously a matter of taste, well... I don't need to tell you what that means. Or I shouldn't, anyway. I could say lemon tastes like chicken, you could say chicken tastes like lemon. IF I really experienced lemon in the same way as chicken, and you experienced it respectively in your opposite way, there'd be no reason to argue. However, if you said the two (lemon and chicken) are nothing alike, you would be partially right - you could argue their texture, their color, everything about them is different, but would it be valid to argue that BECAUSE of those differences, lemon doesn't taste like chicken, and the other person is wrong and/or stupid? It's absurd. Go find something else to do, if it gets down to a matter of that - and be careful that you aren't doing that right now.
  3. In one of the screenshots, you can tell the sith/mandalorian armor is a woman. Unless, well, those boobs are fake. Might not be true for the other pictures - it could very well be just armor, or a null NPC (per EGM), but in one picture (12/33), it definitely has boobs. Canderous' wife, maybe?
  4. I'm going to be gone for a while starting on the fifth - though where I'm going, I might be able to connect to the 'net from my laptop, but I won't have cable anymore It lasts to the end of June, then school (college) starts in a couple weeks from there. Weekends would be preferrable after that, but I could manage to do homework around the sessions.
  5. I think the, "..." was him stopping himself from saying how many, likely. But cycling people on the front? Interesting. Will they all be Sith lords?
  6. You do realize that the way these websites are getting these rumors are the same way WE got them in the first place. Maybe even from these very forums; and the only clear confirmation I've seen on any website anywhere is in the LA website that says winter. (Which, incidentally, includes february)
  7. Where did Bob do VO for Luke?
  8. Sometimes. People tend to think I'm more serious than I am. I guess people think it's too unimportant to discuss, but what does importance matter? What's everyone doing here, anyway? Point proven.
  9. 'Mysteries of the Sith'? Is it any good?
  10. I don't think you understand; They don't want to fight, they want you to stop. It's not a matter of them standing up for themselves, it's a matter of them getting sick of you.
  11. Oh, buggar off. We're having fun, what are you doing?
  12. Because it's mechanics. Droids work on mechanics, not some mysterious, "Other Force". I'm sure that's not what you were suggesting, but do you see what I mean? If you can levitate a rock, you can affect a droids workings. You can warp data types, short circuit various systems by telekinesis. The droid needs something to WRITE the memory, so that physical mechanism (you'd have to understand droids) could be controlled. It could be kinda like the "instinctive astrogation control" power - you're doing mental calculation, and your success depends on your understanding of droids. It might take a while, but a scouting droid could be stunned (short circuited communications, look pretty much just like an accident) and then worked with until it's memory was erased, if it say anything, and the'd simulate some natural disaster. Fabrication couldn't be done, I guess, unless the person were amazing with the skill and used data from a similar droid to implant it in the other one. You might need multiple Jedi working on it too. After a while, you might get really good at it. Maybe have an implant that could translate your thoughts into robot protocol more efficiently, which you'd use to implant in the droid. Might be a lot of trouble, though. I like that idea (hyperspace routes). I say something unrelated to other events, though, if you think you could do it without any frame of reference. Wasn't one of us a pilot? I could be the co-pilot, using force-intuition to help guide us on the safer paths. Everyone else should think of their own story (I'm sure they're horrified by that...)
  13. She is NOT ARREN KAE!! I'll rip your friggin' head off if you say that again... WITH THE FORCE!! Or maybe I'll make it slow and agonizing, a Force Crush, miming the motions over your head with my forefinger and thumb... .... BUT SHE'S NOT ARREN KAE! LOOK AT THE FRIGGIN WALKTHROUGH VIDEO MORE CLOSELY. See him load the game? Good. Wait. NO, WAIT, GO BACK! You missed it. The save game has the main PC's name at the top, who is Arren Kae. Does it make an ounce of sense that one of the character's you could play on the E3 demo was one of the NPC's in the game? No. If she sees the way she's left herself open, the way he's going to swoosh down as ender suggested (yes, I saw that as well), she could take advantage of it. If she's not too impulsive, or has the werewithal, if she's unbalanced (she looks like her feet aren't touching the ground, so I was thinking she could be flying forward, but hey), he's primed to attack, and if he starts too soon (which looks a likely move), she'd have a prime spot to roll under his reach and BAM! She'd have to be fast. Edit: Wait. I think she's running full-force into him, and her back foot is just leaving the ground probably. It's impossible to know where that'd leave her balance. Although, if she did it right, she COULD throw her back foot foreward just enough to stop her momentum and stabilize her so she didn't end up on the ground. Whether he'd see attack from that perspective, I don't know. Like I said, timing or confidence.
  14. It said that in Juhani's description somewhere, actually. Probably on the main site. I'm all for grunts... They should still add more, though. "Ok, just three more hours of grunting to go, then we're done." Hehehehe... (I'm not being serious) Yeah, for some reason the dejected, "For the Republic" and the slightly less half-assed, "For the Jedi!" was annoying. It could be because it was dramatic but not in the right way. Battle exclamations should be simple, and not sound out of place... I think tension should definitely be there; in confidence, fear or just uncertainty. Maybe if it changed tone according to how the battle was going, or how many hp a character had left. It would also alert you to how your party was doing. Maybe THAT would solve people's annoyance. But you should still be able to turn them off.
  15. That's right - it's too Star Trekkish. It doesn't fit very well. When I heard the idea it was pretty absurd to me. There are a billion directions to go in; making a new race of aliens to fight isn't the only way to go. Think up more Force powers like battle meditation, give battle meditation to the Sith for once. Have new, interesting character's pop up and FORGET THE OLD ONES! The Star Wars franchise has become stale and derivative over the years in many ways, but putting the vong in was just non-sensical and (I can imagine it would for me) sort of destroyed the whole idea of star wars. We have thousands of years to cover, folks, so why not make use of them? I really wouldn't mind a novelized, less comic-booked approach to the Exar Kun wars. (That's just a Dark Horse comic, right?) That said, I've only read part of a Kevin J. Anderson book. I found it to be exceptionally boring. I think it was the one about possession in the Massassi temple? I'm not sure, there was too much not happening, and I was like five at the time or something. (well, ten maybe.. but still) People confronted the Darkside over and over, I think, but there wasn't any lightsaber battles or heavy action like the series. It was a bit like a Star Wars tv show or soap opera.
  16. Edit: err... scratch ALL of that discussion... How 'bout something original? Also, I was thinking (not wanting to leave anyone out though) since both me and the archaeologist character are big about knowledge, maybe we could start out as being on some sort of expedition? My guy is a big explorer type anyway, self-sufficient (he trains his force use through holocrons, uses it in ways to benefit his travels), everyone else could either find us by coincidence or be on some sort of expedition to start with with us. I hear about this archaeologist who's exploring some tombs, and I decide to come along. Something pushes the rest of us with him (council, interest, friendship, etc). I think I'll be a Padawan who's spent his freedom travelling quite a bit. My father was someone who fell to the darkside - that's fairly well known among the Jedi and all the Master's know, and that's one of my character's greatest fears and at the same time, interests. One of the reason's he seeks knowledge so eagerly could be to understand why his father fell and destroyed his family, and possibly atone. I used to be a part of the order, but whether I am or not still is iffy. That explains the holocron bit. They were reclusive about knowledge, and I was sick of it. I didn't want to be in the dark anymore, so I struck out and sought knowledge elsewhere. It would be fitting if shin were trying to get promoted by tailing me, trying to figure me out or confront me if I had turned. Being that we're all of heroic stats, maybe the Jedi see no other threats and send him to me. Another question: Can I invent some force powers? Droid-affecting powers come to mind, like destroy/stun droid and maybe a way to mislead them.
  17. Who was Ganner? Ok, Ender: Are force skills rolled individually? Can you improve individual Force skills, in other words, or do Force attributes do that for them?
  18. Doh... I guess I'll figure something else out, then. I'll start with alter, I think, though it seems slightly less fitting to my character
  19. Edit: oops, already answered. Guess I'm still not sure what to pick. How changeable are force powers? In how many sessions could I add a point to a Force power? And what does it mean one force skill requires another? You know all of them already. Does it depend on roll checks for those other skills? OR do you just not even use that system? (this is what I see at the rancor pit)
  20. He's pretty harmless. Laugh it off; he won't be banned, and he's just a jerk. Mind you, I was mostly talking to others about being too harsh, and I don't even think it's that big a deal... but it is adding to the number of posts that are off-topic and non-constructive argument oriented.
  21. Actually, I think she could strike again from that angle (if she doesn't fall over and is close enough), and if his saber continued the path it's at she'd win - her saber is already close. It's neat that we can see this like a real duel happening.
  22. I think you guys are being a LITTLE hard on him, but he really should go do something more productive. As fun as it might be to show us things aren't as perfect as we think, it really doesn't do anything. Sw: G does have Jedi, yes, but I was being sarcastic. As someone said another forum, if you want to play third republic soldier on the left, that's your game. And it seems that's what Hades wants to do, with his obsession over character creation. I find it mildly insulting that he thinks RPG's should be about character creation and fooling around rather than playing something with actual character development. From what I can tell, he'd be ultimately pleased if you just let him write his character on paper with an endless list of skills and some totally non-sequitar picture and roll a dice, pretending he was fighting something.
  23. The neutral ending would be the lightside ending. If they had put more into the ending than just finishing malak, though, you might actually see that.
