  1. I swear there's a new thread everyday "Can't the developers just do this???". If they did everything for all people the game would be boring and bland. Not every game, movie, TV show, song, etc. is going to be for everyone. Good thing there are plenty out there to choose from. P.S. me and my friends were using cuss words in elementary school, and this was pre-internet/streaming. And we knew enough to not use it around adults. If you think you are shielding your children from the world, think again.
  2. In regards to there not being any über items in PoE like in BG2... BG2 was a much higher-level adventure than BG1 or PoE. BG1 you started out level 1 and max'd out around 7 or 8 and I think the best magic items were +1 or +2 range. BG2 you started out (I think) level 7? and max'd out at level 30-40? And you are battling out dragons, demons and demigods and visiting other planes of existence, etc. I don't think it would be "correct" to walk around with a Vorpal Sword or Robe of Vecna at level 8 in PoE.
  3. I haven't received mine yet, but I already downloaded and have been playing it since it came out. (I'm in the U.S. West Coast) To be honest, I think I'm done with the physical box tier on these Kickstarter games, I only wanted the physical map really thinking it would be ULTIMA IV quality. I did it for Wasteland 2 and the only thing useful was the manual as I could take it with me and read while I wasn't playing the game. The physical map sucked and I never even bothered with the installation DVDs since I downloaded it from STEAM a few weeks earlier (box was mailed out later). So my W2 box has been sitting in a drawer since late 2014. Seems like it's going to be the same deal with PoE and I've been reading that the manual is already outdated after the beta testing and patching. So I'm not in a hurry to receive it in the mail. No mas.
  4. From the description of a death godlike, you'd think townsfolk would be either more aggressive or run away, etc.
  5. So, less calling it quits and more a dramatic attempt to convince Obsidian to redesign the entire game to your preferences in the next patch. No kidding. A lot of drama queens on this board.
  6. There was a push for 3-D because that was the next level of gaming technology. Unfortunately the quality of the painterly/handmade look and feel of 2-D took a huge hit for it. Then there was he DnD licensing being bought out from TSR by Hasbro who wanted to turn it into Pokemon or Magic the Gathering which were huge, mainstream hits and moneymakers. And then Everquest/WoW style MMORPG rolled in and became super big as everyone and their grandmother were playing it. And how can we forget the First Person Shoot stylings of Morrowind and those Elder Scrolls. I gave up on CRPG gaming until Wasteland 2 was Kickstarted and now PoE. Never thought I'd see these days again. The important thing was that I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time. Now where was I?
  7. I remember Ruins of Myth Drannor came out and didn't light the world on fire. Temple of Elemental Evil and Arcanum came out and fell flat on it's face (even though I thought they were fantastic, Troika made superb games), and I want to say there was one more that came out and bombed. Lionheart I think? RoMD and ToEE were both buggy as hell when they were released and had little to no support on them afterwards. I remember RoMD being unearthly slow in combat (and I love turn based). And it was kind of boring. ToEE was better, but also buggy and incomplete when released. Plus it was capped at level 10 and I remember reaching that before even entering the main dungeon.
  8. Unhappy people will post more, that's just the nature of the internet. Once people realize PoE is not going to be "Baldur's Gate 3", and after a patch or two come out, the forum should quiet down. I've only played for about 12 hours, I like it so far, and it runs better on my Macbook Pro than "Wasteland 2" ever did. So I've got that going for me, which is nice. Patiently waiting for the patch before diving really deep into it.
  9. they don't make cloth maps like they used to (yeah I was bummed about my Wasteland 2 map, too. I mean that was the sole reason I bumped up my pledge so that I could get it).
  10. It also doesn't help their case that, after Page 3 of their thread, they announce that they don't want anyone to comment on their opinion (that was posted in a public forum) and it was only for the developers to read and take heed.
  11. Well then, you could have bypassed the forum and just emailed them.
  12. If you are constantly needing to rest, maybe rather than complain about not being able to infinitely rest or having to run back to town every two seconds, you should change your gaming strategy. I found myself getting into situations where I was getting my a$$ handed to me and had to rethink what I was doing, try a different tactic. For instance, I was getting nowhere fighting one of those bandits who kidnapped the dwarf cook with a sword, and when switching to a mace, it was a much easier battle. I checked out some of the map areas "too early" and find myself getting killed pretty quickly, so I would come back when I had more experience, better equipment, more companions, etc. Not trying to tell anyone how to play the game, but I know it's easy to get into a stubborn "grind grind grind" mentality and try to plow through something without playing it out smarter. Sometimes something silly like a fruit and/or vegetable buff item turned the tide in a battle for me.
