  1. So my customer rogue party member got instantaneously deleted by a trap down at level 13 of the Endless Paths. He had full Health and Endurance. I looked at the combat log and everyone took a lot of damage and everyone took 1000 points of RAW damage. Why was the only one that died? Shouldn't everyone of died? Nobody else even got knocked out...I spotted the trap but I Guess rounded the corner to quickly.
  2. I'm out of town for 2 weeks when I get back I'm on it.
  3. Sounds like a murder ball I Like it. I like playing Paladins and and am looking for a damage OT build for my next play through. Gives me good ideas
  4. This is the only hostile effect I have encountered that Liberating Exhortation will not clear (other then charm/Dominates but I get it cause they aren't friendly anymore). It works on the other effects that really suck like stuck and Paralyze. I have also noticed that when you buff someone with Liberating Exhortation and they are Paralyzed there will be a delay of a few seconds and the petrify symbol will be placed over their head. They then are free of the Paralyze and fight normally.
  5. oh ya definitely cced them after haha. They died. Just didn't know heart of fury hit that hard lol
  6. I was doing the pirate bounty and finished off the bounty but not before my rogue was one shotted twice by heart of fury....is that suppose to happen? The combat log had the barbarian attacking for like over 20 times. 11 hits, a few grazes some what crits...lol what gives?
  7. Lol I was about to say what you said on the Edit. Its a good ability definitely. I have it.
  8. Ya don't get wrong chanters are definitely good but I think what makes them good is there summons mostly and the fact they have very good deflection. So mid and late game they start to become good tanks. Some of the incantations are good but some of them counting as buffs like equipment really sucks.
  9. Ya its not really necessary. For instance GM and Aloth only have a 12 Might but if you play them as CC casters they work well because of their high INT. Are the in game NPCs optimal? no but its not necessary even on PoTD. I think the game was set up that way feels that way to me. stats matter for sure. but if you aren't sure and go middle of the road with all your stats gear, knowing an enemies weakness and talents can more then tip the scales. I play a Coastal Aumaua Paladin Goldpact Knight. I wanted to play a Merc Paladin whose crusade is finishing a job to the end especially if hes going to be paid or has been paid up front. Hes an adventurer and a soldier and wants to get paid for it. I play him as the main tank of the group. I prefer Coastal for Towering Physique which is really good for a tank. Personally really like Aumaua. The backgrounds of your characters and the party set up are great!. Paladin, Chanter and Priest are clutch (all the leader classes lol) and I know you can definitely finish the game without them but I just think they are awesome support characters.
  10. I am asking because I am playing Trial of Iron and cannot reload if I take it. I know the chanter buff that buffs deflection does not stack with deflection rings and suppresses it. Granted Reinforcing exhortation is +25 so it would still give you +15 extra deflection but that's definitely not that same as the full + 25.
  11. This is why its hard for me get rid of my Priest. I am not saying that the game is unplayable with one. In fact the game was made so you could win with almost any set up but the priest buff that reduces duration and increases defense against mind control effects is down right awesome for this fight. Also a Paladin with extremely high will saves (even higher with Righteous Soul) will never get mind controlled and if he/she does its for an extremely short duration. Those 2 classes are great against mind control bad guys. As for your set up Try getting the jump on them maybe (if you have it) use the quick AOE knock down of the Cipher (lvl1 spell). You can then quickly Mental Binding Paralyze. At this point you are at 12 Focus but are only 3 focus away from another mental binding. hit someone and you should have a mental binding available again. Use it again. Obviously use chanter summons as soon as you can hopefully at level 10 you have either the Ogres or the Drake. You can then get your fighter in there and hopefully if hes not mind controlled knockdown another mob or clear out. At this point start focus firing with your Hard hitters. I you have a high enough attack most of those should not get resisted at your level. If they do well you will have to adapt. No planning can ever go perfectly as sometimes you are at the mercy of the dice (a character planned properly will not be but it happens from time to time) or you miss something a bad guy is doing and don't interrupt.
  12. I agree. Although With a Wizard, haste spell, blight spell and the proper talents....the wizard in my party is an auto attack machine that does very good damage with implements. Its good dps and actually part of my burst set up: Haste Spell, Essential Phantom, Blights focus fire and mobs just fall over (Playing on PoTD). That being said its the only class and build that has use for it and Essential Phantom as nothing to do with implements. It should have more applications then to one class and one specific build. Like the rest of the weapons in the game. Agreed.
  13. "As to paladin buffs you can/'t cast on yourself: they have to be castable on friendly targets, not just allies" I don't get it what is the difference between friendly targets and allies? I'm guessing he means you can tell the difference by a difference in the wording of the tooltips, but I'm not sure. Edit: Whaddya know, the tooltips do differ between "Friendly Target" and "Allied Target." Reviving is listed as friendly, so technically you'd be able to revive yourself, except you can't because you're unconscious lol! I guess you could be friendly with yourself. I've heard of being your own ally too (reminds me of stuff said by motivational speakers), but not in this game lol Nah I don't think so bud. Lay on Hands says Friendly and you can heal yourself with it. Liberating Exhortation says allied and you can buff yourself with it as well.
  14. "As to paladin buffs you can/'t cast on yourself: they have to be castable on friendly targets, not just allies" I don't get it what is the difference between friendly targets and allies?
  15. I've actually never had reinforcing exhortation so I was assuming you can't cast it on yourself because you cannot cast Hastening Exhortation on yourself. I did make the post about melee dps but even with reinforcing exhortation a rogue with little deflection won't be helped much I do not think. He's a glass cannon no dumped stats but per and res are at 10 so after reckless assault he's got 37 deflection. With the buff he'd be at 62 Def. Still getting mashed. I'd take it more for my other tank making him unhittable I do know you can cast Liberating on yourself. I'd actually try FoD on my Paladin tank if I could just get past not having 5 Deflection lol. PS thanks for the help guys!
  16. No laughs here bud that's actually a good pic. Many times have I wished I could carry just one more type of scroll or extra potions.
  17. -Ya so looks like level 10 is definitely solved we are on the same page there. I almost always take Bears Fort on tank Paladins cause your lowest defense is usually Fort. I will probably end up taking Reinforcing Exhortation. I cant cast it on myself BUT what I can do is have my Chanter tank the big bad guys. Reinforcing Exhortation will push him past 170 Deflection which makes him unhittable (only grazes) against the toughest enemy in the game. I have a buffed Int of 20 so it will last a long time. Long enough for me to set up my burst damage and win. As for 12 I find Lay on Hands very useful as a self heal or a frontline heal. The range is low so its hard to heal a backliner with it but I have done it just takes a bit of micro management. -Also no love for Hastening Exhortation? I do have a rogue who melees hes my main damage dealer...my wizard is to and he usues the haste spell so I am assuming they do not stack. -FoD is a tough sell. My guys dex isn't totally dumped (its an 8 ) hes just to slow to do good damage. Also he doesn't have Vulnerable attack. If you want to do good damage in this game you either have to by pass DT or have a big base damage weapon. I also cant see why I would us anything but a Hatchet (The named one you get after fighting certain animals..) as the point of my tank is to have the highest deflection possible and a hatchet has a very low base damage. A mace might give him better damage but it wont be noticeable enough imo. Maybe I am wrong. I have never taken FoD on a tank Paladin. Whats FoD hit like on a defensive Paladin with a one hander and very little DR bypass (3 DR from maces I guess but its not enough). Maybe the Goldpact knight DoT will add some value to the damage.... PS. I have used Liberating Exhortation for poisons and Raw damage dots from rogues which really wear down the health of your backline if they get hit by a ranged rogue. It has been GREAT. So for 12 its between, Greater Lay on Hands, Bond of Duty (it can be ok for some situations and some RP as a Goldpact Knight I guess) or The Dot to FoD if I take FoD...which I don't think I will unless I am wrong completely about it being a crap tank ability!
  18. Hey guys my Paladin (Goldpact Knights for the RP) tank is almost at a complete build at level 9. I could use some help on finishing the build. The party I am running is: PC Paladin Tank, Chanter Tank, Wizard, Cipher, Melee Stiletto/Pistol opener/Saber Rogue and Priest. My tanks build so far is: 1.Lay on Hands 2.Weapon and Shield style. 3. Zealous Endurance (debatable as ZF could be better with the group but it definitely hardens my front line with the extra DR and miss to graze). 4. Cautious Attack 5. Liberating Exhortation (I have learned to use this ability properly and it rocks literally saved my dpsers multiple times especially when they had insect swarms and the raw damage druid DoT. Also has gotten them out of Paralyzes). 6. Superior Deflection 7.Reviving Exhortation 8. Deep Faith 9. Righteous Soul. 10. Bears Fort? with a 10 might and con my fort is Okish thanks for Faith and Conviction even with a Coastal Aumau its my lowest defense although Towering Physique helps a lot against prone and stun. Some spells attack fort.)..Snakes Reflexes? more dodge against Dragon breathes and AOE friendly spells? Greater Lay on hands? Bond of Duty? Help against Domination but I am running a priest in the party...could be redundant or help cover the entire party if his AOE cant get everyone? 11. Hastening Exhortation?, Reinforcing Exhortation? I feel like are the only real competitors..maybe another Aura like ZF or ZC for flexibility? I think sworn enemy is a waste on a tank as you don't have the necessary talents to really dps. The difference is minimal. Flames of Devotion maybe grabbing a high dps ranged weapon like an Arbalest to start the encounter? Deprive the Unworthy is only really worth it against one guy. I don't down enough bad guys as a tank to take Inspiring Triumph. 12. Same questions as level 10.
  19. Ok so for reference at early levels I was using improved plate armor with a base of 12 DR enchanted to fine and crush enchanted as well.
  20. right cause it only has 6 DR. That's what I figured too but wanted to confirm. Thanks! That really makes me think Pale Elfs with their 10 Fire and Freeze DR can be awesome tanks wow. With improved Plate Armor they can have 10 Fire and Freeze DR....on top of the heavy Slash/Pierce DR. With an Enchant of Crush DR you could have 20 Crush DR as well...that's nuts. Only things that can hit you hard is Shock and Corrode which not many enemies have..well corrode you know who hits with it but that's just one enemy lol
  21. So my plate armor has a flat 14 DR but 26 Pierce, 26 slash and 20 crush DR...When I get hit by say a crush weapon that goes against the 20 DR correct? What exactly is the 14 DR mean then? I have read the combat logs and notice that if I get hit with say a slash weapon it uses the 26 DR. Is the 14 DR for a hit I take against a weapon I don't have any resistance to?
  22. That's a quest that you have to be careful not to grab too early or know what you are doing. I did it at level 5 in PoTD iron man run but barely. I know wait until 8 or 9 to do it. It does seem out of place as everything else in the area is easy. But I like that they threw a curveball on difficulty.
  23. So I am about 30 hours into my PoTD Ironman run and I seem to be getting a good amount of micro stutter. Especially in the Temple of Skaen. Its not playable or anything just kind of annoying as I have a very good PC. I am at work right now so I forget the specifics but Its an i7 with 12 gigs of Ram and a GTX 770. Runs games like Skyrim and Dragon Age Inquisition Flawlessly. I know this is likely not a system specs things but has a work around at least been figured out? This is my second full playthrough the other was not Trial of Iron and I saved in many different slots. What I would notice is the more saves I had the slower some of the features in the game would get..like hitting the load button etc. If I would delete a lot of the saves the game would get a lot smoother. It would still microstutter some though. How can I check my FPS in game? thanks. PS The game is very playable and its great I cant get enough of it. Just wanted to see if I could do something about this issue.
